Chistehorn

The Wannihorn is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, located north of Hohtenn in the canton of Valais. It lies south of the Wilerhorn, on the range between the lower Lötschental and the Jolital.

The Hogleifa is a mountain in the Bernese Alps, overlooking the Lötschental in the canton of Valais. It lies at the western end of the Bietschhorn-Aletschhorn chain.

Hohtenn is a railway station in the Swiss canton of Valais and municipality of Steg-Hohtenn. The station is located on the Lötschberg line of the BLS AG. It takes its name from the village of Hohtenn that lies just over 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) from, and 253 metres (830 ft) below, the station.The station is served by the following passenger train: Hohten station is the starting point of the Lötschberg South Ramp walking trail, which parallels the south ramp of the Lötschberg railway as it descends the northern flank of the Rhone valley into Brig. The walk covers the 23 kilometres (14 mi) to Brig, passing by the stations of Ausserberg, Eggerberg and Lalden on the way, and offering views south over the Rhone valley.

The ruins of the Gestelnburg castle are situated above the village of Niedergesteln in Valais, Switzerland, on a rocky ridge called Feschti. The castle was probably built during the 12th century by the powerful Barons de la Tour (English: Tower), which are also called in German Herrn vom Turn. The rule of this family ended during the wars against the bishop of Sion in the second half of the 14th century, and the castle was finally destroyed by the Upper Valaisans in 1384. Exactly 600 years later, a project was started to restore the ruins and make them more easily accessible. Behind the castle there is a cave called Feschtiloch, which originates from the last ice age. The Gestelnburg is a Swiss cultural property of national importance.

Goppenstein is a railway station in the Swiss canton of Valais and municipality of Ferden. The station is located on the Lötschberg line of the BLS AG, just outside the southern portal of the Lötschberg tunnel. It takes its name from the nearby hamlet of Goppenstein.The station is served by the following passenger train: The station is also the southern terminus of the BLS car carrying shuttle train to Kandersteg station via the Lötschberg tunnel, with trains running every 30 minutes. There is no road across the Lötschen Pass, under which the tunnel runs, and the nearest alternative road crossings lie many kilometres to the east and west.A connecting PostAuto bus service runs through the Lötschental valley between Steg and Fafleralp. Up the valley towards Fafleralp this route runs hourly and serves the valley communities of Ferden, Kippel, Wiler and Blatten. Alternate buses continue down the valley to Steg.

Goppenstein (1,216 m) is a Swiss hamlet in the canton of Valais, located in the lower Lötschental and traversed by the Lonza river. It belongs to the municipality of Ferden. Goppenstein is mainly known for its railway station on the Lötschberg railway line, at the southern entrance of the Lötschberg Tunnel leading to Kandersteg. Road vehicles can be carried through the tunnel to Kandersteg by open sided car shuttle trains.

Hohtenn is a village and former municipality in the district of Raron in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. Since 1 January 2009, it has been part of the municipality of Steg-Hohtenn.Hohtenn railway station, on the Lötschberg line, lies just over 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) from, and 253 metres (830 ft) above, the village of Hohtenn. It is served by trains to Bern, Thun and Brig. Additionally, a PostAuto bus service links Hohtenn village to Steg.

Ferden is a municipality in the district of Raron in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. Besides the village of Ferden itself, the municipality includes the hamlet of Goppenstein, and the alpine settlements of Faldum, Resti and Kummen.

Kippel is a municipality in the district of Raron in the canton of Valais in Switzerland.

Wiler (Lötschen) is a municipality in the district of Raron in the canton of Valais in Switzerland.

The Wilerhorn is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, overlooking Wiler and in the canton of Valais. It lies west of the Bietschhorn, on the range separating the Lötschental from the main Rhone valley. It should not be confused with the Wilerhorn that is in the canton of Bern but the Emmental Alps.
