Jandakot Airport (IATA: JAD, ICAO: YPJT) is a general aviation (GA) airport located in Jandakot, Western Australia, about 20 kilometres (12 mi) south-southwest of the "general aviation area of the Airport West precinct" at Perth Airport. Jandakot airport opened in 1963. From 1 July 1998, Jandakot Airport Holdings purchased a 50-year lease with a 49-year option to operate and maintain the airport including its conservation areas. Originally built on unproductive farm lands, it is now among residential suburbs in the south of the Perth metropolitan area, within the City of Cockburn, and just south of Leeming and west of Canning Vale. Jandakot Airport is "the busiest general aviation airport in Australia in terms of aircraft movements".: 2  The airport recorded 208,778 aircraft movements in the fiscal year ending 30 June 2018, also making it the sixth-busiest civilian airport in Australia in that period as measured by aircraft movements. The airport reported 275,506 aircraft movements in the fiscal year 2011, making it the busiest civilian airport in Australia in terms of aircraft movements in that financial year. Jandakot Airport has a theoretical operating capacity of 526,000 aircraft movements per annum, which could be reached "within the 20-year planning horizon of" the 2014 Jandakot Airport Master Plan.: 2

It is best known for Jandakot Airport that is situated entirely within the suburb, the airport being "the busiest general aviation airport in Australia in terms of aircraft movements",: 2  the sixth-busiest civilian airport in Australia in the fiscal year ending 30 June 2018, and in the 2011 fiscal year even the busiest civilian airport in Australia.

Treeby is a southern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Cockburn. It is located on the east side of the Kwinana Freeway, close to Cockburn Central.

Ranford Road railway station is an under construction station on the Thornlie–Cockburn Link in Perth, Western Australia as part of Metronet. The station will include a bus interchange with 14 stands, and approximately 400 car parking spaces. Situated in a cutting 8.5 metres (28 ft) lower than Ranford Road, the station will be accessed from a precinct entry road off the proposed Jandakot Airport Eastern Link Road. Approximately 1,985 daily boardings are predicted at Ranford Road railway station in 2031. Services to Perth and Cockburn Central will be provided by Transperth Trains, with the journey to Perth to take approximately 29 minutes. The station is situated approximately 200 metres (660 ft) east of the Regional Resource Recovery Centre (RRRC) operated by the Southern Metropolitan Regional Council (SMRC), is adjacent to the northern boundary of the City of Canning Recycling and Waste Disposal Facility on the site of its former rubbish tip, and is approximately 1.9 kilometres (1.2 mi) east of the former Leeming rubbish tip.

Banjup is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Cockburn. Its postcode is 6164. It is approximately 25 km (16 mi) south of the Perth central business district. Banjup mainly consists of rural residential properties, with an average lot size of 2 hectares (5 acres), together with a small number of agriculture-based businesses (horticulture such as plant nurseries and flower growing). The suburb has a mixture of small scale rural properties which have been used for hobby farms (for example to run horses) and "lifestyle" residents who prefer open space and more space when compared to normal Perth suburban blocks. Banjup is located on the Jandakot Water Mound. As part of the Western Australian State Government water resource protection policy development over the Jandakot Water Mound is limited to reduce the possibility of contamination from runoff from properties. As a consequence the number of animals per property is limited by the City of Cockburn zoning policies (for example 1 horse per 2 ha property - exemptions apply for established properties with livestock). Much of the Jandakot Regional Park is located within Banjup.

Bowmen of Melville is an archery club located in Leeming, Western Australia, founded in 1965. It is registered with both Archery Western Australia and Archery Australia, and is located behind the Melville Glades Golf Club, on Beasley Road in Leeming. The club maintains a membership of seventy to eighty members. Bowmen of Melville is one of four archery clubs located south of the Swan River in Perth. When the club was founded in 1965 it was known as Fremantle Y Bowmen. At the time it was located in Fremantle, Western Australia. The club's facilities include a 45-metre (148 ft) awning, providing protection from rain, wind and sun, with enough space for fourteen targets and over 60 archers to shoot undercover concurrently. In recent years Bowmen of Melville has been one of the biggest archery clubs in Western Australia. Its membership has at times exceeded 130 members. Although its membership fees are on par with other clubs in Western Australia, it is still higher than other clubs in the eastern states. Members have regular club shoots at the grounds. The club shoots are regularly target events, however the disciplines of field, clout and 3D are also shot. Beginners are also able to shoot at the club, and beginner lessons are held regularly. Three Australian Olympians, Scott Hunter-Russel, Joanne Galbraith and Taylor Worth, all shot at Bowmen of Melville.

Southern River is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the state of Western Australia. The district is a marginal seat based in the southern suburbs of Perth.

Hakea Prison is a maximum security prison for males, located in Canning Vale, Western Australia. The facility is managed by the Department of Justice on behalf of the Government of Western Australia. The prison officially opened in June 1982 as Canning Vale Prison, managing 248 prisoners. From September 1991, Canning Vale Prison operated as a maximum-security prison until, in 2000, it merged with the CW Campbell Remand Centre and became Hakea Prison. Hakea Prison manages prisoners in custody to appear in court (on remand) and those who have just been sentenced. Most newly sentenced prisoners are assessed at Hakea Prison before being placed at other Western Australian prisons.Hakea Prison has specialist management units known as "punishment units" which have been described by the state regulator as "outdated and not fit for purpose" because of the intense psychological damage they inflict on inmates as well as the inability of guards to monitor the cells. These punishment units do not have showers and deprive inmates of several officially required amenities such as human contact. In March 2022 an Indigenous man suicided in one of the punishment cells after his repeated calls for help from guards were ignored.In 2016, Units 11 and 12 of the Hakea facility were converted into the separate Melaleuca Remand and Reintegration Facility for women.

Banksia Hill Juvenile Detention Centre is an Australian juvenile prison facility for offenders aged 10–17 years, located at Canning Vale, Western Australia. It was opened in September 1997 to replace Longmore Detention Centre in Bentley.

Melaleuca Women's Prison is a maximum security prison for women, in Canning Vale, Western Australia. It opened in December 2016, and has a capacity of 254 inmates. Melaleuca is a standalone facility, built on what were previously Units 11 and 12 of Hakea Prison.The prison is operated by the private company Sodexo. The state government will pay Sodexo a bonus for reducing recidivism – A$15,000 for each inmate who stays out of jail for two years. This incentive scheme is the first of its type in Australia.The prison is named after the Melaleuca plant, and was formerly known as the Melaleuca Remand and Reintegration Facility.

Canning Vale is a southern suburb of Perth, 22 km (13.7 mi) from the central business district. Its local government areas are the City of Canning (west of Nicholson Road) and the City of Gosnells (east of Nicholson Road).

Leeming is a southern suburb of Perth, Western Australia. It is divided between the three local government areas of the City of Melville, the City of Cockburn (south) and the City of Canning (north-east). It is located approximately 17 kilometres (11 mi) south of the Perth central business district and 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) east of Fremantle.
