Woodhay railway station was a station on the Didcot, Newbury and Southampton Railway in England. It was located about five miles south of the junction with the Great Western Railway west of Newbury railway station. Woodhay station served the villages of Enborne and Enborne Row in Berkshire and Broad Laying (Woolton Hill) in the parish of East Woodhay, Hampshire. It was a considerable distance from the villages of East Woodhay and West Woodhay. The site now lies under the A34 Newbury by-pass.

Wash Water is a hamlet on the border of Berkshire, and Hampshire. It is divided between the civil parishes of Enborne (where according to Grid Refs the majority of the population at the 2011 Census was included), Newbury, Highclere and East Woodhay. The settlement lies adjacent to the A343 and A34 highways (Newbury Bypass), approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) south-south-west of Newbury. Some locals claim it is named after the spot on the River Enborne where women washed the troops' clothes during or after the First Battle of Newbury of the English Civil War, others say it is because wool was washed in the local rivers before fulling in the two nearby mills. Village facilities include a public house called the Woodpecker Inn, formerly the Derby Arms.

Enborne is a village and civil parish, in West Berkshire, England that bounds to the east, across a road from Newbury. The River Enborne shares its name, although it does not run through the village; rather, it runs through and rises near the nearby village of Enborne Row. Enborne is in the county of Berkshire. It lost some of its eastern land to Newbury's 20th century expansion. The village name has had many variant spellings in the past, including Anebourne in 1086, as well as Enbourne, Enborn and Enbourn in the last 200 years.

Crockham Heath is a hamlet in Berkshire, England. Crockham Heath is part of the civil parish of Enborne (where according to the grid ref the majority of the 2011 Census population was included). The settlement lies near to the A34 road, and is located approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) south-west of Newbury.

Avery's Pightle is a 1.3-hectare (3.2-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Enborne in Berkshire. It is managed by the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust.This unimproved meadow is species rich and it has surviving ridge and furrow, suggesting a long history of traditional management without modern herbicides or fertilisers. Twenty-four species of grass and a hundred and thirteen herbs have been recorded. There is a wet ditch which has water whorl grass.There is access to the site from Church Lane.

Penwood is a village in the civil parish of Highclere in the Basingstoke and Deane district of Hampshire, England. Its nearest town is Newbury, which lies approximately 4.1 miles (6.4 km) north-east from the village. Penwood has three main housing estates: Penwood Heights, Woodlands and Heathlands. There is a small shop in the village.

Wash Common is a small suburb to the south of Newbury. It is built on the former Newbury Wash, which was flat open heathland overlooking Newbury, and until the 19th century there was just a small group of houses separated from Newbury by open country. Both places have grown into each other, and the suburb of Wash Common is now contiguous with Newbury. Most housing development has taken place to the west of the Andover road, and some of the area to the east of the road still remains open farmland.

Gainsborough Stud is a stud farm based in Woolton Hill, Hampshire, 3 miles (4.8 km) outside Newbury. It is owned by United Arab Emirates-based international racing operation Godolphin. It was established in 1910 to stand the racehorse Gainsborough and sold in 1981 to Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who operated it as part of his international horse breeding and racing interests, including training horses to race under his own and Godolphin's colours. On his death, Gainsborough Stud passed to Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and became part of the Darley and then the Godolphin operations.

Woolton Hill is a village in Hampshire, England, in the civil parish of East Woodhay. The village lies approximately 4 miles (6 km) south-west of the centre of Newbury and encompasses the hamlet of Broad Layings on its northern edge.

Highclere (pronounced ) is a village and civil parish situated in the North Wessex Downs (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) in the Basingstoke and Deane district of Hampshire, England. It lies in the northern part of the county, near the Berkshire border. It is most famous for being the location of Highclere Castle, a noted Victorian house of the Earl of Carnarvon. It is the setting for numerous films and TV series, including Downton Abbey.

Enborne Copse is a 11.9-hectare (29-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest west of Newbury in Berkshire. It is a Nature Conservation Review site.The current woodland boundary is almost identical to that shown on Rocque's map of Berkshire in 1761, but most of it is now a conifer plantation and only the area designated as an SSSI retains its semi-natural broad leaved woodland.
