Matzuva

The Matzuva attack was a terrorist attack on March 12, 2002 in which two Islamic Jihad militants who infiltrated Israel from Lebanon opened fire on civilian vehicles traveling on the Shlomi-Matzuva road. Six Israeli civilianswere killed in the attack and one injured.

Shlomi (Hebrew: שְׁלוֹמִי) is a town in the Northern District of Israel. In 2022 it had a population of 7,446.

It was situated close to the Lebanese border, 19 kilometers (12 mi) north of the district capital, Acre, and 65 meters (213 ft) above sea level. During the 1948 Palestine War the village was stormed by Haganah troops in May 1948 and almost completely razed. Its residents were either internally displaced or expelled to neighboring countries as part of the 1948 Palestinian expulsion. Today, the ruins of the village are in the northern quarters of the moshav of Shlomi.

Betzet (Hebrew: בֶּצֶת) is a town in the Western Galilee in northern Israel. Located near Shlomi and Nahariya, it falls under the jurisdiction of Mateh Asher Regional Council. As of 2021 its population was 368.

Avdon (Hebrew: עַבְדּוֹן) is a moshav in northern Israel. Located near Shlomi, it falls under the jurisdiction of Ma'ale Yosef Regional Council. In 2021 it had a population of 685.

Arab al-Samniyya (Arabic: عرب السمنية), also known as Khirbat al-Suwwana, was a Palestinian village in the Western Galilee that was captured and depopulated by Israel during the 1948 Arab-Israeli war. It was located in the Acre District of the British Mandate of Palestine, 19.5 km northeast of the city of Acre. In 1945 the, village had a population of 200 Arab and a total land area of 1,872 dunums.

Kabri (Hebrew: כַּבְּרִי, also transliterated Cabri) is a kibbutz in northern Israel. Located in the Western Galilee about 4 kilometres (2 mi) east of the Mediterranean seaside town of Nahariya, it falls under the jurisdiction of Mateh Asher Regional Council. In 2021 it had a population of 1,098.The kibbutz is located on lands which used to belong to the depopulated Palestinian villages of Al-Kabri and al-Nahr.

Manot (Hebrew: מָנוֹת, lit. Portions) is a moshav in northern Israel. Located near Shlomi, it falls under the jurisdiction of Ma'ale Yosef Regional Council. In 2021 it had a population of 498.

Neve Ziv (Hebrew: נְוֵה זִיו, lit. Brightness Home), also known as Ziv HaGalil (Hebrew: זִיו הַגָּלִיל, lit. Brightness of the Galilee) is a community settlement in northern Israel. Located east of Nahariya, it falls under the jurisdiction of Ma'ale Yosef Regional Council. In 2021 it had a population of 1,012.

Manot Cave (Hebrew: מערת מנות Me'arat Manot) is a cave in Western Galilee, Israel, discovered in 2008. It is notable for the discovery of a skull that belongs to a modern human, called Manot 1, which is estimated to be 54,700 years old (U–Th dating of the calcitic crust on the Manot 1 calvaria and of speleothems in the cave). The partial skull was discovered at the beginning of the cave's exploration in 2008. Its significance was realised after detailed scientific analysis, and was first published in an online edition of Nature on 28 January 2015. This age implies that the specimen is the oldest known human outside Africa, and is evidence that modern humans lived side-by-side with Neanderthals. The cave is also noted for its "impressive archaeological record of flint and bone artefacts". Geologically, it is an "active stalactite cave".

Liman (Hebrew: לִימַן) is a moshav in northern Israel. Located in the Western Galilee about 5 km (3 mi) north of Nahariya, it falls under the jurisdiction of Mateh Asher Regional Council. In 2021 it had a population of 674. Its area is about 2400 dunams and most residents work in agriculture, including chicken raising.
