Jacksdale is a village in the Ashfield local-government district of Nottinghamshire, England, once a mining community. The population of Jacksdale ward in Ashfield district was recorded as 3,158 in the 2011 census, and was estimated at 3,097 in 2019. Lying close to the Derbyshire border, Jacksdale is the westernmost community in its county. Neighbouring villages include Selston, Brinsley, Pye Hill and Ironville. Jacksdale and Westwood are interlinked, although houses in Westwood are usually newer, whereas 86 per cent of the housing in Jacksdale was built before 1918.

Pye Hill is a hamlet in the Erewash Valley, Nottinghamshire, England. The B600 road runs east–west through it. It was once served by the Pye Hill and Somercotes railway station.

Pye Hill and Somercotes railway station was a railway station on the Great Northern Railway (Great Britain) on its Derbyshire Extension on the branch between Kimberley and Pinxton. It served the villages of Pye Hill and Somercotes. The station was opened by the Great Northern Railway on 24 March 1877, and was originally named Pye Hill; it was renamed Pye Hill and Somercotes on 8 January 1906, and closed on 7 January 1963. The station was immortalised in 1964 in the song "Slow Train" by Flanders and Swann.

Ironville in Derbyshire, England, was built about 1830 by the Butterley Company as a model village to house its workers. The population of the civil parish was 1,930 at the 2021 Census. It is situated between Riddings and Codnor Park. John Wright and William Jessop had purchased the land adjacent to the Cromford Canal from Lancelot Rolleston of Watnall in 1809. The village was notable for its large gardens, and its rural setting. The Mechanics Institute was built in 1846; schools were provided in 1850 and a parish church in 1852. The local authority modernised parts of the village in the late twentieth century. Nearby is Pye Hill and the bend in the Cromford Canal where it turns southward down the Erewash Valley and the junction with its extension to Pinxton. About a quarter of a mile north east is another transport landmark, Pye Bridge at the junction of the Erewash Valley railway line and the extension to Ambergate. Part of the line to Ambergate is now preserved as Midland Railway - Butterley, which terminates just south of the former Pye Bridge Station.

Aldercar and Langley Mill is a civil parish in the Amber Valley district of Derbyshire, England. It includes the villages of Aldercar and Langley Mill, along with the hamlets of Stoneyford and Woodlinkin. The population of the civil parish taken at the 2011 Census was 5,405.
