The Church of the Good Shepherd is a Roman Catholic church located on Thackerays Lane in Woodthorpe, a suburban area of Arnold, Nottinghamshire. It is a Grade II* listed building.

Daybrook is a suburb of Arnold, Nottinghamshire. The area is located just outside the city of Nottingham but inside the conurbation of Greater Nottingham. It lies next to the areas of Arnold town centre, Sherwood, Woodthorpe, Redhill and Bestwood.

The Sir John Robinson Almshouses (commonly the Daybrook Almshouses) are a collection of twelve two-bedroom cottages erected in 1899 on Mansfield Road, Daybrook, Arnold, Nottingham.The almshouses are charitable low-rent housing provided and maintained by the Sir John Robinson Homes charity (England and Wales Registered Charity No. 217941) to enable fully retired elderly people over the age of 60 years (who are able to care for themselves) to live in Daybrook. Sir John Robinson of the Home Brewery built the almshouses and Daybrook Laundry in memory of his son John Sandford Robinson, an amateur jockey, who died in a horse-racing accident on 21 April 1898, aged 30 years. King George V visited the almshouses on 24 June 1914.There is a further group of 12 two-bedroom houses that were built earlier in 1889, in Sherwood, as Sir John Robinson alms houses in honour of his son's 21st birthday.

The Church of St. Paul is a parish church in the Church of England, located on Mansfield Road in Daybrook, Nottingham. The parish includes St Timothy church centre. St Paul's church is a Grade II* listed building by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport as it is a particularly significant building of more than local interest.

Woodthorpe is part of the Borough of Gedling and lies next to the city boundary. It is next to the areas of Mapperley, Daybrook, Sherwood and the main Arnold area. Woodthorpe is characterized by a variety of different buildings from differentiate eras. It includes three schools, is home to two day nurseries and has two play/grassy parks. Shops are limited and most residents travel to nearby areas of Mapperley, Daybrook or Sherwood for local shopping.

Woodthorpe Grange Park is a Green Flag–awarded public park located in Sherwood, Nottingham, Nottingham, on the northern edge of the city. One of the largest parks in the city, it includes a tropical plant house, a nursery, formal landscaped gardens and a café. Sporting facilities include football pitches, a children’s play area and a pitch and putt course. Regular events are held in the park.

Sherwood railway station was a station on the former Great Northern Railway Nottingham Suburban railway in Nottingham. The station lies within Woodthorpe Grange Park in Woodthorpe. The NSR was built mainly for the brickworks of Mapperley and Thornywood, however, there were passenger services to Daybrook and Sherwood Station. In 1905, Parry sold the estate to Godfrey Small a Nottingham City Councillor. Meanwhile, the railway was struggling with the opening of the electric tram from Nottingham City Centre to Sherwood. In 1916 the regular passenger service was withdrawn and Sherwood Station closed. Woodthorpe Grange Park opened to the public in 1922. On 10 July 1928 King George V and Queen Mary visited the park and 17,000 school children travelled to the event on the NSR to Sherwood Station (which had been re-opened for the event). An enthusiasts special ran on 16 June 1951 but goods train finished on 1 August 1951 when the line was abandoned. The track was lifted in 1954.

Sherwood () is a large district and ward of the city of Nottingham, in the English ceremonial county of Nottinghamshire. It is situated approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north of Nottingham city centre. The population of the ward taken at the 2011 census was 15,414. It is bordered by Woodthorpe to the northeast, Mapperley to the east, Carrington to the south, New Basford and Basford to the west, and Daybrook and Bestwood to the north. It is well known for its forest, Sherwood Forest, the place Robin Hood was said to live.
