Swansea Village Historic District

Swansea is a town in Bristol County in southeastern Massachusetts. It is located at the mouth of the Taunton River, just west of Fall River, 47 miles (76 km) south of Boston, and 12 miles (19 km) southeast of Providence, Rhode Island. The population was 17,144 at the 2020 census. The villages of Hortonville, Barneyville and Ocean Grove are located in the town. Swansea is a part of the South Coast region of Massachusetts which encompasses the cities and towns that surround Buzzards Bay (excluding the Elizabeth Islands, Bourne and Falmouth), Mount Hope Bay and the Sakonnet River.

South Swansea Baptist Church (formerly South Swansea Union Church) is a historic church building in Swansea, Massachusetts. Built in 1916, it is Swansea's best example of a Shingle-style church. The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Ocean Grove is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Swansea in Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States, on the north shore of Mount Hope Bay near the Cole River. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census, and 2,904 as of the 2020 census.

The Samuel Gardner House is a historic colonial American house in Swansea, Massachusetts. This 1+1⁄2-story wood frame gambrel-roofed house was built c. 1768 by Samuel Gardner, whose father (also named Samuel) was the first English colonist to settle Gardner's Neck after its purchase from local Native Americans. It is a well-preserved 18th century farmhouse.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Wilbur Elementary School is a former elementary school located in Somerset, Massachusetts, United States. The school included kindergarten through fifth grade. It was involved with a state test scam which resulted in the invalidation of 74 test scores. In June 2014, the school closed permanently.

The Bark Street School is a historic school building on Stevens Road at Bark Street in Swansea, Massachusetts. Built in 1905, it is the town's only surviving wood-frame school building. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Lees River or Lee's River, shown on federal maps as the Lee River, is a 2.9-mile-long (4.7 km) tidal river that forms part of the boundary between Swansea and Somerset, Massachusetts. It flows south to drain into Mount Hope Bay. The first documented local shipyard was established on the river between 1707 and 1712 by Samuel Lee. Today the river is designated as a Class A, "outstanding resource" water.

The Deacon John Buffington House is a historic house in Swansea, Massachusetts. It is a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure, four bays wide, with a side-gable roof, and its chimney centered behind one of the inner bays, behind the main entrance. Exterior styling is simple, with plain boards around the door, and only minor embellishment on the window framing. A two-story ell extends to the rear. The house was probably built c. 1790. Its first documented owner was John Buffington, a member of the locally prominent Buffington family. The house exhibits well-preserved but simple vernacular Georgian styling.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
