A Hamas suicide attack was carried out on a city bus in the Ramat Eshkol neighborhood of Jerusalem on August 21, 1995.The Palestinian Islamist militant organization Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack.

Ma'alot Dafna (Hebrew: מעלות דפנה) is an Israeli settlement and a neighborhood in East Jerusalem. It borders the neighborhood of Shmuel HaNavi to the west, Ammunition Hill to the east, Ramat Eshkol to the north and Arzei HaBira to the south. The international community considers Israeli settlements in East Jerusalem illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this.

Givat HaMivtar (Hebrew: גִּבְעַת הַמִּבְתָּר) is an Israeli settlement and a neighborhood in East Jerusalem established in 1970 between Ramat Eshkol and French Hill. It is located on a hill where an important battle took place in the Six Day War. Archaeological excavations have revealed important ancient Jewish tombs in the region. St. Joseph's Hospital is a Catholic community hospital in East Jerusalem, established in 1956 at the initiative of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Apparition, as a replacement for their St. Louis Hospital that remained on the Israeli side of divided Jerusalem; following the 1949 Armistice Agreements. The hospital is part of the East Jerusalem Hospitals Network, which is part of the Palestinian health care system in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. The hospital also occasionally treats patients from the Gaza strip.

The National Headquarters of the Israel Police (Hebrew: בניין המטה הארצי של משטרת ישראל, Binian HaMateh HeArtzi shel Mishteret Yisrael; short: HaMateh HeArtzi, "National Headquarters") is the headquarters of the Israel Police, located in Kiryat Menachem Begin in East Jerusalem.

Ramat Eshkol (רמת אשכול‎ ) (also Ramot Eshkol Hebrew: רמות אשכול) is an Israeli settlement and neighborhood in East Jerusalem. It was built on land captured from Jordan in the Six-Day War and was the first neighborhood built in East Jerusalem after the Six-Day War in 1967. The international community considers Israeli settlements in East Jerusalem illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this.

Kiryat Menachem Begin, named after former Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and also known as Kiryat HaMemshala, is a complex of government buildings in East Jerusalem located between Sheikh Jarrah in the north, adjacent to Mount Scopus in the east and Ammunition Hill in the west.

Ohr Somayach (also Or Samayach or Ohr Somayach International) is a yeshiva based in Jerusalem founded in 1970 catering mostly to young Jewish men, usually of college age, who are already interested in learning about Judaism. It is known as a "baal teshuva" yeshiva since it caters to Jews with little or no background in Judaism, but with an interest in studying the classic texts such as the Talmud and responsa. Students are recruited either locally or from other countries where the yeshiva has established branches, such as in the United States, Canada, South Africa, United Kingdom, Australia, Ukraine and Russia.

Sheikh Jarrah (Arabic: الشيخ جراح, Hebrew: שייח' ג'ראח) is a predominantly Palestinian neighborhood in East Jerusalem, two kilometres (1+1⁄4 miles) north of the Old City, on the road to Mount Scopus. It received its name from the 13th-century tomb of Sheikh Jarrah, a physician of Saladin, located within its vicinity. The modern neighborhood was founded in 1865 and gradually became a residential center of Jerusalem's Muslim elite, particularly the al-Husayni family. After the 1948 Arab–Israeli War, it became under Jordanian-held East Jerusalem, bordering the no-man's land area with Israeli-held West Jerusalem until the neighborhood was occupied by Israel in the 1967 Six-Day War. Most of its present Palestinian population is said to come from refugees expelled from Jerusalem's Talbiya neighbourhood in 1948.Certain properties are subject of legal proceedings based on the application of two Israeli laws, the Absentee Property Law and the Legal and Administrative Matters Law of 1970. Israeli nationalists have been working to replace the Palestinian population in the area since 1967. Over a period of five decades, a number of Israeli settlements have been built in and adjacent to Sheikh Jarrah.

On 5 November 2014, in a terrorist ramming attack, a Hamas operative deliberately drove a van at high speed into a crowd of people waiting at the Shimon HaTzadik light rail station in the Arzei HaBira neighborhood of Jerusalem.

Sanhedria (Hebrew: סנהדריה) is a neighborhood in northern Jerusalem. It lies east of Golda Meir Street, adjacent to Ramat Eshkol, Shmuel HaNavi, Maalot Dafna and the Sanhedria Cemetery.

Shmuel HaNavi (Hebrew: שיכון שמואל הנביא, Shikun Shmuel HaNavi, lit. "Samuel the Prophet neighborhood") is a neighborhood in north-central Jerusalem. It is bordered by the Sanhedria Cemetery to the north, Maalot Dafna to the east, Arzei HaBira to the south, and the Bukharan Quarter to the west. It is named after Shmuel HaNavi (Samuel the Prophet) Street, which runs along its western border and is the main road leading to the tomb of Samuel the prophet (Hebrew: Shmuel HaNavi) just outside Jerusalem's city limits.
