Westmorland
Westmorland (, formerly also spelt Westmoreland) was a county in Northern England. People of the area were known as Westmerians. The area's varied landscapes included the Lake District and the southern Vale of Eden. The county had an administrative function from the 12th century until 1974, when it was subsumed into Cumbria with all of Cumberland, the Sedbergh area of Yorkshire and Furness of Lancashire; latter two and the Penrith area of historic Cumberland later unitary authority area in April 2023. It gives it name to the Westmorland and Furness unitary authority area of Cumbria, England.
