Stansted Airport Transit System

Stansted Airport railway station is on a branch line off the West Anglia Main Line in the East of England and was opened in 1991 to provide a rail link to London Stansted Airport. It is 36 miles 67 chains (59.3 km) down the line from London Liverpool Street station, to which a frequent dedicated service called the Stansted Express operates. The short branch line was constructed at a cost of £44 million and opened by British Rail to coincide with the completion of the airport's new terminal building.

Molehill Green is a hamlet in Takeley parish in Essex, England, close to the perimeter of London Stansted Airport, The hamlet consists of approximately forty houses and lies about 2.2 miles (3.5 km) north of Takeley village.It has one pub called The Three Horseshoes, a small village hall, a shop and a cricket club. Most of the houses are named rather than numbered, and it has only one named street, School Lane. The hamlet was originally called Morrells Green, which is now the name of a small housing estate in Takeley. The River Roding rises from a spring close to the cricket club. Molehill Green is geographically in Essex but its former postal county is Hertfordshire. Nearby are the hamlets of Chapel End, Broxted, Bamber's Green and the village of Takeley. There is another Molehill Green in Essex, in Felsted parish.

Elsenham Woods is a 44.4-hectare (110-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Elsenham in Essex. It was notified under Section 28 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, and the local planning authority is Uttlesford District Council.The site comprises two separate areas, the larger Eastend Wood and the smaller Plegdon Wood. They are both ancient mixed woods on chalky boulder clay. There are also damp grass rides and ponds which provide additional habitats for invertebrates and birds.The site is private land with no public access.

Stansted's runway is also used by private companies such as the Harrods Aviation, Titan Airways, and XJet terminals, which are private ground handlers that are able to handle private flights, charter flights, and state visits. Converted to civil use from RAF Stansted Mountfitchet in the late 1940s, Stansted was used by charter airlines. It came under British Airports Authority control in 1966. The privatised BAA sold Stansted in February 2013 to Manchester Airports Group as a result of a March 2009 ruling by the Competition Commission against BAA's monopoly position.

Takeley Priory, dedicated to Saint Valery, was a Benedictine monastery in Takeley, Essex, England, founded by William the Conqueror between 1066 and 1086, that is to say, after the Conquest and before Domesday Book. The priory, with substantial landholdings in Essex and Middlesex, was given to the Abbey of Saint-Valery in Normandy, as a thank-offering for their assistance in facilitating William's crossing of the Channel in 1066 to invade England.In 1391 Richard II licensed the abbot of Saint-Valery to sell the priory and its lands to William of Wykeham for his two collegiate foundations, New College, Oxford, and Winchester College: the Middlesex estates went to Winchester and the Essex estates to New College.There are no built remains but the site, which now contains Warish Hall, is well preserved and has yet to be excavated.

Takeley is a village and civil parish in the Uttlesford district of Essex, England.

Stane Street Halt railway station was a station serving the community of Takeley Street to the west of the village of Takeley near Bishop's Stortford, England. The station was 4 miles 18 chains (6.80 km) from Bishop's Stortford on the Bishop's Stortford to Braintree branch line (Engineer's Line Reference BSB). The halt opened on 18 December 1922 and closed on 3 March 1952. It was named after the nearby Roman road. The halt along with almost all the intermediate stations on the Bishop's Stortford–Braintree branch were little used. The halt was built in a rural area. The village centre of Takeley is still rural and Stane Street and Takeley stations were very close together. However to try to boost passenger numbers, the owner of the line introduced a bus service. However the hoped for passenger numbers never materialized. The Halt makes its sole appearance in printed literature in 1935 in S P B Mais's England's Pleasance p. 261. It closed to passengers along with the rest of the branch.

Pledgdon Green, also known as Pledgdon or Prison Green, is a hamlet in the parish of Henham, in the Uttlesford district of Essex, England. The hamlet is situated just over 1 mile (1.6 km) south-east from the parish village of Henham. Nearby settlements include the villages of Broxted and Elsenham.
