Kingthorpe railway station

Kingthorpe is a hamlet in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. The hamlet is in the civil parish of Apley, and is 10 miles (16 km) east from the city and county town of Lincoln and 9 miles (14 km) south from the market town of Market Rasen. It sits on the B1202 road from Wragby to Bardney, and 1 mile (1.6 km) to the east from the parish village of Apley. Kingthorp is one of five 'villages' represented in the Bardney Group Parish Council. The hamlet contains two Grade II listed late 18th-century brick farmhouses: Kingthorpe Farmhouse and Manor Farmhouse.

Wragby ( RAG-bee) is a town and civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated at the junction of the A157 and A158 roads, and approximately 10 miles (16 km) north-west from Horncastle and about 11 miles (18 km) north-east of Lincoln.

It is situated 1 mile (1.6 km) south-west from Wragby, and 0.5 miles (0.8 km) south from the A158 road. Wragby and Goltho Limewood Walk, through one of the Lincolnshire Limewoods national nature reserves, passes Goltho Hall, Goltho Chapel and Goltho deserted medieval village.

Langton by Wragby is a small village and civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It lies approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) south-east from Wragby, on the A158 Horncastle road. Langton Wood is a small, previously extra-parochial area, now included in the parish.The church is dedicated to St Giles, and is of 14th-century origin, although it was rebuilt in 1866. It is a Grade II listed building.Langton Court is the former vicarage, now a house, built in the middle of the 18th century with some 19th-century additions. It is a Grade II listed building.The early 13th-century Archbishop of Canterbury, Stephen Langton, was the son of Henry Langton of Langton by Wragby, and may have been born in a moated farmhouse west of the church.The "Stephen Langton Trail" devised to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the sealing of Magna Carta, starts in Langton by Wragby and leads to Lincoln, where there is an original copy of the charter.

Apley is a hamlet and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated 1 mile (1.6 km) west from the hamlet of Kingthorpe and the site of Kingthorpe railway station, and approximately 2 miles (3 km) south-west from Wragby. Apley church, dedicated to St Andrew, is a small brick building erected in 1871 at a cost of £284. It was built to conduct burial services within the graveyard of the former and by then non-existing medieval Church of St Andrew's, which before 1816 had decayed and been reduced to its foundations. In the 19th century the churchyard also served the parish of Stainfield. Apley is recorded in White's Directory as a village and parish with a population of 231, and a land area of 1,658 acres (6.7 km2), 300 acres (1.2 km2) of which was woodland, and included the hamlets of Kingthorpe and Hop Lane. Apley professions and trades listed in 1872 included a parish clerk, a boot & shoemaker, six farmers, two of whom were at Kingthorpe, and two carriers, one of whom was a shopkeeper.Apley Beck marks the course of a 12th-century monastic canal linking Bullington Priory to Barlings eau.

St George's Church is a redundant Anglican church in the deserted village of Goltho, Lincolnshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building, and under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. The church is in a field, and can be approached only by footpaths to the south of the A158 road, 2 miles (3 km) southwest of Wragby, and 11 miles (18 km) northeast of Lincoln. The church was the last evidence surviving above ground of the deserted medieval village and manorial holding dating from the ninth century on the site of a Romano-British settlement,. The church was severely fire damaged in 2013.

Stainfield Priory was a Benedictine nunnery at Stainfield in the North of Lincolnshire, England, between Wragby and Fiskerton. The priory of St Mary at Stainfield was the only nunnery of the Benedictine order in Lincolnshire. It was a small establishment intended to house up to 20 nuns, founded in around 1154 by Henry or William Percy, which survived until the dissolution in 1536.

Bullington Priory was a priory in Bullington, Lincolnshire, England. The priory was a house of the Gilbertine Order and dedicated to Saint Mary. It was founded as a double house between 1148 and 1154 by Simon, son of William de Kyme, who gave part of his park for the site, along with wood and land, the churches of Bullington and Langton, and Hackthorn Mill. His son, Philip de Kyme, provided for seven canons with land in Faldingworth, the churches of Spridlington and Winthorpe, and a moiety of Friskney. For the nuns he gave 20 acres in Huttoft for the clothing of the convent and the church of St. Albinus at Spridlington. Alexander de Crevequer granted 52 acres in Hackthorn, and common of pasture for 500 sheep and the small priory his father had founded on the island of Tunstall . The numbers were limited by the statute of Saint Gilbert to 100 nuns and lay sisters, and 50 canons and lay brothers. Throughout the thirteenth century the prior and convent continued to acquire both lands and churches. After the black death the house suffered and by 1428 there were fewer than ten people in Bullington and Spridlington, and this caused the church at Spridlington to fall into ruin. The house was surrendered in 1538 by the Prior, Prioress, nine canons and fourteen nuns.

It is situated approximately 9 miles (14 km) north-east from the city of Lincoln and approximately 2 miles (3 km) west from Wragby, and near the A158 road from Lincoln to Skegness. The nearest large town is Market Rasen, about 5 miles (8 km) north-east. The village is 87 feet (27 m) above sea level. The population is listed under Goltho. Rand was the home of the father of the 17th-century English writer James Harrington.

Fulnetby is a hamlet and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated approximately 8 miles (13 km) north-east from the city and county town of Lincoln. Fulnetby is listed in the 1086 Domesday Book as "Fulnedebi"", with 12 households, 100 acres (0.4 km2) of meadow and 120 acres (0.5 km2) of woodland.Once larger than the present day hamlet, Fulnetby is considered a deserted medieval village with earthworks in fields east of Fulnetby Hall known as Hall Garths, however since 1953 these have been destroyed and nothing can be seen today.The deserted medieval village of Helethorpe or Halethorpe was located nearby and was documented from 1212 to 1711, of which only earthworks remain.Formerly a chapel of ease to Rand, Fulnetby was created a civil parish in 1866 and enlarged by gaining part of Rand in 1887.Fulnetby Hall is a Grade II listed building dating from the 16th century with a moat on its north and western side.
