Habit is an unincorporated community located in Daviess County, Kentucky, United States. A post office was established in the community in 1884, and named for the local English-American blacksmith Frederick Habitt. Portions of the Ann Patchett novel The Patron Saint of Liars take place in the town.

Masonville is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Daviess County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 2,129 as of the 2020 census, doubling from 1,014 in the 2010 census. It is included in the Owensboro Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Owensboro Health is the health system in Owensboro, Kentucky. It was originally known as "Owensboro Daviess County Hospital" until it merged with the nearby and much smaller Mercy Hospital in 1995. The hospital was renamed "Owensboro Mercy Health System" until 2003 when it changed its name to "Owensboro Medical Health System". A new hospital, again renamed as simply "Owensboro Health Regional Hospital" opened at the northeast outskirts of Owensboro, in 2013. Western Kentucky University-Owensboro is a regional campus of Western Kentucky University offering public, post-secondary education. It offers 23 undergraduate degrees, partnering with the Kentucky Community and Technical College System in a +2 program wherein students can transfer to WKU in Owensboro to complete an undergraduate degree after earning their associate degree. WKU in Owensboro is located at 4821 New Hartford Road, across the street from the Owensboro Community and Technical College main campus and minutes south of the Ohio River. The Elmer Smith Power Plant was a coal-fired power plant owned and operated by the city of Owensboro, Kentucky. Unit 1 opened in 1964 with Unit 2 opening 10 years later in 1974The power plant was the main source of power for the city of Owensboro during the years it was active.

Kentucky Motor Speedway is a 3/8-mile short track located in Whitesville, Kentucky. The track was built in 1960, as a 1/4-mile track, with an infield figure 8 crossover added in 1981. But the track was later reconfigured to a 3/8-mile short track, while the figure 8 still have races. Several NASCAR greats, including Darrell Waltrip, Michael Waltrip, Jeremy Mayfield, and the Green brothers Jeff, David, and Mark, got their start in racing at the speedway.Kentucky Motor Speedway hosted 2 NASCAR Southeast Series races in 2003 in the 3/8-mile short track layout. The track hosts weekly races of all that divisions: Sportsman Division, super streets, pure stock, mini mods, mini stocks, stock cars and scrappers. The facility was idle from 2005 to 2008 due to bankruptcy issues before officially reopening on April 19, 2009. Brad Payne ran the race track from 2012 to 2019. Scott Slaton and John Hayden took over KMS operations before the 2020 season. The facility was idled again in 2022 and 2023, with plans to reopen after further improvements.

Knottsville is a small unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in eastern Daviess County, Kentucky. The population was 183 as of the 2020 census. The first house was built by Leonard Knott in the fall of 1827, for which the town was named. It was laid out in 1836 by William R. Griffith and James Millay.

Owensboro Community and Technical College (OCTC) is a public community college in Owensboro, Kentucky. It is part of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS). Owensboro Community College (est. 1986) and Owensboro Technical College (est. 1929) consolidated to become OCTC. OCTC is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to offer technical as well as associate's degree programs.

The Owensboro Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of three counties in Kentucky, anchored by the city of Owensboro. As of the 2000 census, the MSA had a population of 109,875. In the 2010 Census the population was 114,752. Owensboro is part of the Illinois–Indiana–Kentucky tri-state area and sometimes, albeit seldom, referred to as Kentuckiana.

Daviess County High School is located in Owensboro, Kentucky, United States. It is one of the largest schools in the area, with roughly 1750 students. It is part of the Daviess County Public Schools system. Its sister school is Apollo High School. Daviess County Middle School and College View Middle School feed into Daviess County High School.

Haphazard is a historic house located on Pleasant Valley Road in Owensboro, Kentucky. The house overlooks the Ohio River, and its name is probably derived from the river's eddies. The property which Haphazard was built on was originally owned by George Mason, a signatory to the U.S. Constitution, who was given the land in a grant surveyed in 1787. Mason's grandson Richard sold the property to Robert Triplett in 1822, by which point the log house forming the central portion of the home had been built. Triplett likely added the house's side wings, northern gable, and Federal style interior. Triplett accomplished many local firsts, as he was Owensboro's first large real estate dealer; Daviess County's first soil conservationist, barge operator, and author; the first distiller on the Ohio River in the county; and the builder of Kentucky's first railroad. In 1843, A. B. Barret purchased the house from Triplett; Barret then sold the house to William Bell the following year. Bell, the president of a local bank, likely added the house's Greek Revival portico.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 22, 1975.
