Mission Concepcion

The Battle of Concepción was fought on October 28, 1835, between Mexican troops under Colonel Domingo Ugartechea and Texian insurgents led by James Bowie and James Fannin. The 30-minute engagement, which historian J. R. Edmondson describes as "the first major engagement of the Texas Revolution", occurred on the grounds of Mission Concepción, 2 miles (3.2 km) south of what is now Downtown San Antonio in the U.S. state of Texas. On October 13, the newly created Texian Army under Stephen F. Austin had marched towards Bexar, where General Martín Perfecto de Cos commanded the remaining Mexican soldiers in Texas. On October 27, Austin sent Bowie and Fannin, with 90 soldiers, to find a defensible spot near Bexar for the Texian Army to rest. After choosing a site near Mission Concepción, the scouting party camped for the night and sent a courier to notify Austin. After learning that the Texian Army was divided, Cos sent Ugartechea with 275 soldiers to attack the Texians camped at Concepción. The Texians took cover in a horseshoe-shaped gully; their good defensive position, longer firing range, and better ammunition helped them to repel several Mexican attacks, and the Mexican soldiers retreated just 30 minutes before the remainder of the Texian Army arrived. Historians estimate that between 14 and 76 Mexican soldiers were killed, while only one Texian soldier died.

Assumption Seminary in San Antonio, Texas, was established in 1915 to train the Catholic priests of the region to carry out their service to the people.

Mission Stadium was a multi-use stadium in San Antonio, Texas, USA. It was opened in 1947 as the stadium of the San Antonio Missions of the Texas League. Its final season was in 1964; V. J. Keefe Memorial Stadium replaced it in 1968 when minor league baseball returned to San Antonio. The capacity of the stadium was 10,000 spectators. The ballpark was bounded by Mission Road (west and north, third base and left field); Mitchell Street (south, first base); and Steves Avenue (north and east, center field and right field). The site is currently a parking lot for an office complex, whose curvature near the streetcorner approximates the curvature of the old grandstand.

The Yturri–Edmunds Historic Site is an historic site in San Antonio, Texas. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places listings in Bexar County, Texas . The homestead and mill were designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1966.

Roosevelt Park in San Antonio, Texas is named for President Theodore Roosevelt. The origins of the park date to 1888, when it was known as the International Fair Grounds. The name was changed to Roosevelt Park in 1920. Its current layout and design was created by the architectural firm of Hare & Hare, and for a brief time was known as Lambert Park, before returning the name to Roosevelt Park In 1898, Army Lt. Colonel Roosevelt, and then-recent Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Col. Leonard Wood, established recruitment headquarters for the Spanish–American War at the Menger Hotel, with Wood signing up volunteers on the hotel patio and Roosevelt working out of its bar room. Enlistees were encamped and trained by Roosevelt in what is now the 12.9-acre Roosevelt Park.The recruits would come to be known as Roosevelt's Rough Riders. Roosevelt himself noted that Texans, in particular active Texas Rangers, made up a large percentage of the volunteers.The current park was once owned by Bexar County. When the City of San Antonio assumed ownership of the facility in 1920, the park was named Roosevelt Park.

The Lone Star Brewery, built in 1884, was the first large mechanized brewery in Texas. Adolphus Busch, of Anheuser-Busch, founded it along with a group of San Antonio businessmen. The castle-like building which was once its brewery now houses the San Antonio Museum of Art. Lone Star beer was the company's main brand. The beer is still marketed as "The National Beer of Texas." The Lone Star name is now owned by Pabst Brewing Company. Production of Lone Star is currently contracted out to Miller Brewing Company in Fort Worth. The Lone Star name is used in the Philippines under license to Asia Brewery for a brand of light beer.

G.W. Brackenridge High School is a public high school located in central San Antonio, Texas, United States, and classified as a 5A school by the University Interscholastic League (UIL). This school is one of 12 high school schools in the San Antonio Independent School District. In 2017, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency

The San Antonio Downtown and River Walk Historic District is an amalgamation of residential and commercial sites. 197 contributing properties and 50 non-contributing properties were taken into consideration when evaluating the area for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) and also for the Recorded Texas Historic Landmarks (RTHL). The more than a century of economic growth and business/tourist development beginning in the mid-19th century is reflected in the city's architecture.The commercial buildings showcase a wide variety of architectural styles and movements. Among the prominent architects who were involved in designing this area of San Antonio were Atlee Ayres, Alfred Giles, James Riely Gordon, Robert H.H. Hugman, Herbert M. Greene, Adams & Adams (Carleton W. Adams and his uncle Carl C. Adams) and Millard Sheets.Listed below are 37 properties denoted as significant to the designation of the National Register of Historic Places listings in Bexar County, Texas. Four of the properties are also included on La Villita historic district. The 214-acre geographical boundaries covered by this NRHP designation are the San Antonio River Walk and surrounding blocks, bounded by Cameron, Augusta, Sixth, Bonham, losoya and Tolle Place.

Alamo Methodist Church is a historic Methodist church building at 1150 S. Alamo Street in San Antonio, Texas. It was built in 1912 in a Mission/Spanish Revival style. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

The Guenther House is a restaurant, museum and store located at 205 E. Guenther Street in the King William neighborhood of the Bexar County city of San Antonio in the U.S. state of Texas. Currently operated by C. H. Guenther and Son. Inc., the home was originally built as a private residence in 1859 by Pioneer Flour Mills founder Carl Hilmar Guenther. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places listings in Bexar County, Texas on October 11, 1990.

The Edward Steves Homestead is located in the Bexar County city of San Antonio in the U.S. state of Texas. It was designed by architect Alfred Giles and designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. The main house was donated to the San Antonio Conservation Society in 1952. The organization completely restored the main house as a museum and now conducts daily tours. The complete homestead property consists of four individual structures: the main house museum, the carriage house, the river house, and the servants' quarters. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places listings in Bexar County, Texas, as a contributing structure of the King William Historic District.
