Salford Civic Centre, formerly Swinton and Pendlebury Town Hall, is a municipal building at Chorley Road, in Swinton, Greater Manchester, England. It is the administrative headquarters of Salford City Council.

Salford and Eccles is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2015 by Rebecca Long-Bailey, a member of the Labour Party.

Swinton Square, formerly known as Swinton Shopping Centre, is a shopping centre located between Chorley Road (A6) and Swinton Hall Road in Swinton, near Manchester, England. The centre was built in 1966. Swinton Square houses a diverse number of shops, with many specialising in a certain area of life. It also held a small open air market until fairly recently. The complex includes the 1970s Swinton Library and the Lancastrian Hall As part of the recent redevelopment of the shopping area, a new Asda superstore opened in 2014. There is also a Morrisons superstore nearby on Swinton Hall Road, which was originally built in 1992 as a Safeway UK store, until Morrisons acquired the Safeway chain in 2004. The store was eventually rebranded to Morrisons in November 2005.

The Co-op Academy Swinton is in Greater Manchester, England. Although named The Swinton High School in September 1988 when Wardley High School and Pendlebury High School merged, forming a single comprehensive school for pupils aged 11 to 16, on one site located half a mile from Swinton town centre. The Swinton High School joined the Co-op Academies Trust in March 2018 and is since known as 'Co-op Academy Swinton'.

Swinton railway station serves the towns of Swinton and Pendlebury in the City of Salford, Greater Manchester, England. It is actually located in Pendlebury and not Swinton itself; the boundary between the two districts is about 40 yards further down Station Road (B5231), beyond the junction with Boundary Road and nearer the town centre. It opened, along with the line to passenger trains, in June 1887. Swinton is on the Manchester to Southport Line. The station is located 5 miles 4 chains (8.1 km) north-west of Manchester Victoria, There are regular Northern Trains services to destinations such as Wigan North Western, Wigan Wallgate, Kirkby, Blackburn and Leeds; these services stop at local towns such as Salford, Atherton and Hindley. Onward trains take passengers on to Southport, although occasional services are direct. Although the station is in the City of Salford, rather than Manchester, the name Swinton (Manchester) is used by National Rail to refer to the station; this is to avoid confusion with Swinton railway station in South Yorkshire.

Moorside High School, is a coeducational secondary school located in Swinton, Salford, near Manchester, England.Established in 1934, the school was located on the south side of the East Lancashire Road, to the south of Swinton town centre within the Salford Local Authority before being completely rebuilt in recent years.

The City of Salford ( SOL-fərd) is a metropolitan borough in Greater Manchester, England. The borough is named after its main settlement, Salford and extends its coverage to the towns of Eccles, Swinton, Walkden and Pendlebury. The borough has a population of 270,000, and is administered from the Salford Civic Centre in Swinton. Salford is the historic centre of the Salford Hundred an ancient subdivision of Lancashire. The City of Salford is the 5th-most populous district in Greater Manchester. The city's boundaries, set by the Local Government Act 1972, include five former local government districts. It is bounded on the southeast by the River Irwell, which forms part of its boundary with Manchester to the east, and by the Manchester Ship Canal to the south, which forms its boundary with Trafford. The metropolitan boroughs of Wigan, Bolton, and Bury lie to the west, northwest, and north respectively. Some parts of the city, which lies directly west of Manchester, are highly industrialized and densely populated, but around one-third of the city consists of rural open space. Since the 1990s, parts of Salford have undergone regeneration, especially Salford Quays, home of BBC North and Granada Television, and the area around the University of Salford. Salford Red Devils are a professional rugby league club in Super League and Salford City F.C. is a professional football club in League Two. Old Trafford, the home of Manchester United, in Trafford, is opposite Salford Quays.

Station Road was a stadium in Pendlebury, near Manchester, England. It was the home of Swinton Rugby League Club between 1929 and 1992 and was widely recognised as one of the finest grounds in the Rugby League. Swinton moved to Station Road when they were at their peak, having won all four major trophies ("All Four Cups") the previous season, one of only three clubs (the others being Hunslet and Huddersfield) ever to do so. The decision to purchase the land, which stood alongside the railway line and Swinton railway station, was made after a breakdown in negotiations with their existing landlord at their Chorley Road ground, their home since 1887.

Co-op Academy Walkden is a secondary school in Walkden, Greater Manchester. Formerly on Birch Road, the school is now located on Old Clough Lane, and serves Walkden, Worsley, Linnyshaw, Roe Green, Ellenbrook and Boothstown. In September 2011, the school moved into a new building off Old Clough Lane as part of the government's BSF (Building Schools for the Future) agenda, a process whose early planning stages had begun in November 2006. The culmination of that work is a building that offers accommodation for 1,500 pupils. The new building is available for the community to use during out-of-school hours and this is managed by Salford Community Leisure. Formerly known as Walkden High School, the school converted to academy status in December 2018 joining the Co-op Academies Trust.

Moorside railway station is a railway station serving the town of Swinton, Greater Manchester, England. The station stands on Moorside Road, close to the junction with Chorley Road (A6). Moorside is a local station on the Atherton Line between Wigan and Manchester, 6+1⁄2 miles (10.5 km) north-west of Manchester Victoria, with regular Northern Trains services to them as well as Salford, Walkden, Atherton and Hindley. It was opened in 1888 (along with the line) and, like others on the route, has a single island platform serving the two lines that pass through. When the line was quadrupled at the beginning of the 20th century, the two extra lines were laid to the south of the existing ones and were not given platforms. They were subsequently decommissioned in November 1965 and removed. Until 6 May 1974, it was named Moorside & Wardley, becoming Moorside on that date.Moorside is the least used station on the Atherton Line. On 17 February 2020, the entrance and ticket office were destroyed by a fire. Police believed the fire was started deliberately.The blaze took place weeks after the station had been refurbished. Prior to the renovation, the station had been regarded as one of the worst on the rail network, with outdated facilities.
