Young Conservation Area

La Barque Creek is a stream in Jefferson County in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is a tributary of the Meramec River. La Barque is a name derived from the French denoting "the boat".

Myron and Sonya Glassberg Family Conservation Area is a 429-acre (1.74 km2) protected area in northwestern Jefferson County, Missouri. It is south of Eureka and southeast of Pacific. The Glassberg Family Conservation Area is located within the watershed of the Meramec River, primarily in the watershed of LaBarque Creek. The Young Conservation Area is about 0.2 miles (0.32 km) to the east and LaBarque Creek Conservation Area is about 1.2 miles (1.9 km) to the southwest.The acquisition of the conservation area's land was made possible by a donation from the Myron and Sonya Glassberg Family and the Forest Legacy Program run by the U.S. Forest Service. The land was acquired to protect the water quality of LaBarque Creek, which is one of the highest quality streams in the St. Louis area, with at least 42 species of fish. The area was opened to the public in December 2012.There is a 3 miles (4.8 km) loop hiking trail, a 0.5 miles (0.80 km) trail around 3-acre (1.2 ha) Buder Lake, which is open to fishing, and a scenic overlook above the Meramec River. There are five additional fishless ponds. A limestone monument designed by Gail Cassilly and dedicated to the Glassberg family is located near the parking area. No horses, camping, motorized vehicles, or bicycles are permitted in the area.

LaBarque Creek is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Jefferson County, Missouri, United States. Its population was 1,558 as of the 2010 census.

Fox Creek is a stream in Franklin and St. Louis counties in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is a tributary of the Meramec River. Fox Creek was named for the abundance of foxes near its course.

Allenton Access is a protected nature area consisting of 9 acres (0.036 km2) in western St. Louis County, Missouri. It is located southwest of the town of Eureka, east of the town of Pacific and bordered to the south by the Meramec River. It is part of the Meramec Greenway and Henry Shaw Ozark Corridor.Allenton Access consists of a boat launch, parking lot, and restroom surrounded by forest. Fishing is permitted with the appropriate permit. There have been 46 bird species recorded at Allenton Access.

The Black Madonna Shrine and Grottos is a Catholic Marian shrine complex located in the unincorporated area south of Pacific, Missouri in the United States. It was constructed beginning in 1938 by Brother Bronislaus Luszcz, a Polish immigrant of the Franciscan order.

Meramec Township is an inactive township in Jefferson County, in the U.S. state of Missouri.Meramec Township was established in 1821, taking its name from the Meramec River.

The Big River is a tributary of the Meramec River in east-central Missouri. The river rises in western Iron County near the summit of Johnson Mountain just north of Missouri Route 32 and approximately 3.5 miles southeast of the community of Enough. It flows through Washington, Saint Francois, and Jefferson counties. It forms part of the boundary between Jefferson and Saint Francois counties and also part of the boundary between Jefferson and Washington counties. It empties into the Meramec River opposite Eureka where the Meramec forms the border between Jefferson and Saint Louis counties. The river flows through Washington State Park, St. Francois State Park, and the Lead Belt mining district. The elevation of the river at its source is approximately 1,300 feet (400 m) above sea level and at its mouth about 400 feet (120 m). The length of the river is approximately 145 miles (233 km), while the airline distance between source and mouth is about 56 miles (90 km). Its watershed area is 955 square miles (2,470 km2). The river flows through or near the communities of Belgrade, Irondale, Park Hills, Bonne Terre, Morse Mill, Cedar Hill, and Byrnes Mill. Tributaries of the Big River include Flat River, Belews Creek, Turkey Creek, Mill Creek, Mineral Fork, Calico Creek, Heads Creek, Terre Bleue Creek, Ditch Creek, and Jones Creek.

LaBarque Creek Conservation Area (LCCA) consists of 1,274 acres (5.16 km2) in northwestern Jefferson County, Missouri. It is south of Pacific and southwest of Eureka. The LCCA is part of the Henry Shaw Ozark Corridor. The Young Conservation Area is about 2 miles (3.2 km) to the east, Myron and Sonya Glassberg Family Conservation Area is 1.2 mi (1.9 km) to the northeast, Pacific Palisades Conservation Area is 3.3 miles (5.3 km) to the north, Catawissa Conservation Area is 3.5 miles (5.6 km) northwest, and Robertsville State Park is 4.7 miles (7.6 km) west. In 2005 the Missouri Department of Conservation purchased 545 acres (221 ha) from The Nature Conservancy and a private landowner. Other acquisitions brought the total acreage to 639 acres (259 ha), and it opened to public use on November 15, 2007. In December 2010, these 639 acres (259 ha) became a part of the Missouri Natural Areas System as LaBarque Creek Natural Area. Three adjacent parcels of land totaling a combined 635 acres (257 ha) were added to LCCA, bringing its total area to 1,274 acres (516 ha) and connected it to land that will become Don Robinson State Park to the south, forming a 2,117-acre (857 ha) block of public protected land. None of the more recently acquired land is part of the designated natural area.The LCCA has a 3 mi (4.8 km) loop trail on its eastern side open to hiking only. The LCCA is open to archery deer hunting only.The LaBarque watershed has a great variety of terrestrial natural communities, including small sandstone glades, forested fens and many kinds of woodland. There are at least 42 fish species in LaBarque Creek.

Lake Tekakwitha is a village in Jefferson County, Missouri, United States. The population was 254 in 2010.

Eureka is a city in St. Louis County and Jefferson County, Missouri, adjacent to Wildwood and Pacific. It is in the extreme southwest of the Greater St. Louis metro area. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 11,646. Since 1971, Eureka has been known as the home of the amusement park Six Flags St. Louis.

Don Robinson State Park is a public recreation area covering more than 800 acres (320 ha) in Jefferson County, Missouri. Located in the upper LaBarque Creek watershed, the state park's rugged landscape includes sandstone box canyons, shelter caves, cliffs, glades and upland and bottomland forests. The land was bequeathed to the state by businessman Don Robinson following his death in 2012. Robinson started acquiring parcels in the 1960s and stopped when he realized his ambition of amassing a holding the same size as New York City's Central Park. The park opened to the public in 2017. It features the stone house where Robinson began living in 1978 as well as two hiking trails and a picnicking area.
