The school is operated by the NSW Department of Education.

Many institutions are located in Barrack Heights, including Shellharbour Public Hospital, Shellharbour Private Hospital, Warilla Bowling Club, Warilla Sports Club and Warilla High School. Barrack Heights is surrounded by the suburbs of Barrack Point, Blackbutt, Mount Warrigal, Oak Flats, Shellharbour, Shellharbour City Centre and Warilla.

Lake Illawarra (Aboriginal Tharawal language: various adaptions of Elouera, Eloura, or Allowrie; Illa, Wurra, or Warra meaning pleasant place near the sea, or, high place near the sea, or, white clay mountain) is an open and trained intermediate wave dominated barrier estuary or large coastal lagoon , is located in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, situated about 100 kilometres (62 mi) south of Sydney, Australia. Until 2014, the lake environment was administered by the Lake Illawarra Authority (LIA), a New South Wales statutory authority established pursuant to the Lake Illawarra Authority Act 1987 (NSW) with the aim of transforming the degraded waters and foreshores of Lake Illawarra into an attractive recreational and tourist resource. In 2014, the LIA was replaced by the Lake Illawarra Estuary Management Committee (LIEMC), including representatives from Wollongong and Shellharbour City Councils, as well as independent scientific advisors, community members, and local Aboriginal representatives.

Barrack Point is a seaside suburb of the City of Shellharbour, New South Wales, Australia which sits within the southern Wollongong urban area. Surrounding suburbs are Warilla to the north, Barrack Heights to the west, and Shellharbour to the south.The Surfrider Caravan Park is found here opposite Shellharbour Beach.

Shellharbour City Centre is the central business district of the City of Shellharbour, located in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia (not to be confused with the suburb, Shellharbour). Its name reflects its status as the commercial and administrative centre for the City of Shellharbour local government area, and is home to the Council Administration Centre (located in the Civic Centre), Stockland Shellharbour shopping centre, cinemas and other retail shops. In recent years, apartment buildings have become more common within the district. The suburb was planned and developed to be the commercial heart of the local government area. The concept was developed in the 1970s by council in conjunction with the New South Wales Department of Planning. Planning and development has since been undertaken by council in partnership with Landcom, in an area of land that was formerly part of Blackbutt.

Windang is a suburb of Wollongong in New South Wales on the southern tip of the peninsula guarding the ocean entrance to Lake Illawarra. Windang is popular for its fishing, prawning, boating, windsurfing and yachting. Windang is about 98 km south of Sydney, approximately 20 minutes drive south of the Wollongong CBD and about seven minutes from Shellharbour.
