Osdorf, Hamburg

Hochkamp (German pronunciation: [ˈhoːxkamp]) railway station is on the Altona-Blankenese line and served by the city trains, located in Hamburg, Germany. The rapid transit trains of the line S1 and the line S11 of the Hamburg S-Bahn calls the station in the quarter Nienstedten of the Altona borough in Hamburg. Right along the railway tracks is the border to the quarter Osdorf.

The Lise-Meitner-Gymnasium (LMG) is a high school in Osdorf, Hamburg. It bore the name Gymnasium Osdorf until 1 January 2007, when it officially adopted the name of the Austrian-Swedish nuclear physicist Lise Meitner.

The Bundeswehr Command and Staff College (German: Führungsakademie der Bundeswehr, FüAkBw) is the General Staff College (Senior Military Academy) of the German armed forces, the Bundeswehr, established in 1957 as the successor of the Prussian Military Academy, founded in 1810. Since 1958 it is located in Hamburg. Its motto is "Mens agitat molem", "Mind moves Matter". Being the leading educational institution of the German armed forces, the academy is internationally renowned for its excellence. The academy educates the future elite of not only the German armed forces but also of other member states of the European Union and the NATO.

Nienstedten (German pronunciation ) is a quarter in the city of Hamburg, Germany. It belongs to the Altona borough on the right bank of the Elbe river. Nienstedten is home to the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea. In 2020 the population was 7,114.

Osdorfer Born is a major estate of prefabricated houses in the Osdorf and Lurup quarters of Hamburg, Germany. It is named after a small stream flowing into the Düpenau stream.

The Lutheran Nienstedten Cemetery (German: Nienstedtener Friedhof) is a church-operated historic burial ground in Hamburg, Germany. The cemetery is owned by the Evangelical Lutheran parish church of Nienstedten, Hamburg. The cemetery is located on the Elbchaussee near the parish church in Nienstedten, now a Hamburg suburb. It is one of the oldest cemeteries still in operation in the Greater Hamburg area with around 250 burials taking place each year.

Iserbrook is a district in the borough of Altona within the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg in North Germany. In 2020 its population was 11,352. Iserbrook belongs to the Elbvororte (suburbs that are near the river Elbe).

The Loki-Schmidt-Garten, also known as Botanischer Garten Hamburg, or, more formally, as Botanischer Garten der Universität Hamburg or Biozentrum Klein Flottbek und Botanischer Garten, is a botanical garden maintained by the University of Hamburg. It has a size of around 25 hectares and is located at Ohnhorststrasse 18, Hamburg, Germany, beside the Klein Flottbek station in the Osdorf quarter, and open daily without charge. It was renamed in 2012 after Loki Schmidt, the wife of the former German chancellor Helmut Schmidt. Though it was renamed, the old name coexists with the new one. Nearby Klein Flottbek station still has the second name "Botanischer Garten".

Born Park (German: Bornpark) is public park in Osdorf, Hamburg, Germany. Located around Lake Helmuth Schack and the streams of Düpenau and Luruper Moorgraben, it is used as a recreational area mainly by the inhabitants of Osdorf, Osdorfer Born and nearby Schenefeld in Schleswig-Holstein. The park extends to an area of 13.4 hectares (33 acres).

The European X-Ray Free-Electron Laser Facility (European XFEL) is an X-ray research laser facility commissioned during 2017. The first laser pulses were produced in May 2017 and the facility started user operation in September 2017. The international project with twelve participating countries; nine shareholders at the time of commissioning (Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden and Switzerland), later joined by three other partners (Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom), is located in the German federal states of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein. A free-electron laser generates high-intensity electromagnetic radiation by accelerating electrons to relativistic speeds and directing them through special magnetic structures. The European XFEL is constructed such that the electrons produce X-ray light in synchronisation, resulting in high-intensity X-ray pulses with the properties of laser light and at intensities much brighter than those produced by conventional synchrotron light sources.

Luruper Moorgraben (Lurup Bog Ditch) is a small stream in Osdorf, Hamburg, Germany, partially marking the boundaries of Lurup, Hamburg, after which it is named. It comes to the surface near the street of Knüllkamp in Osdorf. Nearby, from the right, the small stream of Müllergraben flows into Luruper Moorgraben. It then crosses the street of Bornheide, the main road of Osdorfer Born. Finally it flows into Lake Helmuth Schack in the recreational area of Born Park.

The International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) is an intergovernmental organization created by the mandate of the Third United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea. It was established by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, signed at Montego Bay, Jamaica, on 10 December 1982. The Convention entered into force on 16 November 1994, and established an international framework for law over all ocean space, its uses and resources. The ITLOS is one of four dispute resolution mechanisms listed in Article 287 of the UNCLOS.The Tribunal is based in Hamburg, Germany. The Convention also established the International Seabed Authority, with responsibility for the regulation of seabed mining beyond the limits of national jurisdiction, that is beyond the limits of the territorial sea, the contiguous zone and the continental shelf. There are currently 168 signatories, 167 states plus the European Union. As of 2021, holdouts included the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
