Geelong East was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria from 1859 to 1985. It was located south of the city of Geelong, defined in the Victorian Electoral Act, 1858 as: Commencing at the north-western angle of the town reserve of Geelong; thence by a line south to the River Barwon; thence westward and northwestward by the River Barwon to the western boundary of the reserve at the junction of the Moorabool and Barwon; thence east by the northern boundary of section 25, parish of Barrabool; thence south by the eastern boundaries of sections 25 and 11, and by part of the eastern boundary of section 7, all in the same parish; thence south-easterly by a curved line crossing the Waurn Chain of Ponds to the southern boundary of section 3, parish of Conewarre; thence east by the southern boundaries of sections 3 and 4 in the same parish; thence north-easterly by a curved line crossing the River Barwon to the south-eastern angle of section 11 in the parish of Moolap; thence by the eastern boundary of that section and a line north to the shores of Corio Bay; and thence by the shores of Corio Bay to the north-western angle of the town reserve, the commencing point aforesaid, including the remaining portion of the reserve at Point Henry. Geelong East (along with Electoral district of Geelong West) was created when the four-member Electoral district of Geelong was abolished in 1859. Geelong West and Geelong East were abolished in 1877, replaced by a re-created 3-member district of Geelong.After the Electoral district of Bellarine was abolished in 1976, Geelong East was re-created. In 1985, population increases caused another redrawing of electoral boundaries; Geelong East was abolished and Bellarine re-created that year. Graham Ernst, last member for Geelong East, represented Bellarine 1985–1992.

Kardinia Park (also known as GMHBA Stadium due to naming rights) is a sporting and entertainment venue located within Kardinia Park, South Geelong, in the Australian state of Victoria. The stadium, which is owned and operated by the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust, is the home ground of AFL club Geelong Football Club. Kardinia Park can accommodate 40,000 spectators, making it the largest-capacity Australian stadium in a regional city.

The Christ Church is an Anglican church located in Geelong, Victoria, Australia. Designed by Edmund Blacket, the church is the oldest Anglican church in Victoria, in continuous use on its original site. On 9 October 1974 the church was listed on the Victorian Heritage Register with the following statement of significance: Christ Church, Geelong is of historical significance due to its association with the early history of the Anglican Church in Victoria. It is the oldest Anglican Church in the State still occupying its original site. It appears to be the only extant example of Bishop Broughton's involvement in church design in Victoria. Christ Church, Geelong is of architectural significance as the only church in Victoria designed by prolific NSW architect, Edmund Blacket. It is a very early work of Blacket's and possibly his first church design. Christ Church, Geelong is of aesthetic significance for its remarkable, high quality collection of stained glass windows, in particular the fine examples of the work of Ferguson and Urie. Together these demonstrate the development of stained glass design from the early 1872 examples to the late 20th century work. The mural is also of significance as a rare example of this aspect of the work of important artist, Christian Waller.

The Geelong city centre is the urban center and main commercial locality of the Geelong metropolitan area, also referred to as the Geelong CBD, Central Geelong, the Central Activities Area, or informally simply as "Town" by locals. Two large shopping malls, Westfield Geelong and Market Square Shopping Centre, have been opened in the last three decades, which has led to a decline in street shopping on the city's two main thoroughfares, Moorabool Street and Ryrie Street, resulting in a declining number of customers and some empty shops.The Geelong city centre has seen some significant redevelopment since 2016. In 2018, the WorkSafe office building was opened, followed by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) national headquarters in 2019, significantly altering the skyline. New multi-storey apartment buildings, such as The Mercer and The Miramar, have also been built recently.

St Mary of the Angels Basilica, formerly St Mary's Church, is a basilica located in Yarra Street, Geelong, Victoria, Australia. Since the completion of the Gothic revival bluestone building in 1937, St. Mary of the Angels has had the tallest bluestone spire in Australia, at 150 feet (46 m), and has the fourth-tallest non-cathedral spire in Australia. In 2004 it became Australia's fifth basilica, after gaining Vatican approval for the change of description.It is the tallest building in Geelong, with a total height of 210 feet (64 m) from the pavement, and is a major landmark in the city.

St John of God Geelong Hospital is a 284-bed hospital providing inpatient and outpatient care in the Barwon and south-west regions of Victoria.Founded in 1965, the Sisters of St John of God purchased the hospital in 1977 and it was renamed from Holy Cross Hospital to St John of God Geelong Hospital in 1980.St John of God Geelong Hospital is a division of St John of God Health Care, a Catholic not-for-profit health care group.

John Landy Athletics Field is situated at the corner of Swanston Street and Barwon Terrace, South Geelong, and was formerly known as Riverside Reserve. It sits adjacent to the Barwon River to the south and the Godfrey Hirst Pty Ltd carpet factory to the east. it is considered the premier athletics venue in the Geelong region, and its track is of national standard. Landy Field is located close to Kardinia Park. Landy Field was the venue for the 2016 Victoria Country Athletics Championships. The venue itself is open 24 hours. Landy Field is an associated venue of the Geelong Cross Country Club.

HM Prison Geelong was a maximum security Australia prison located on the corner of Myers Street and Swanston Street in Geelong, Victoria, Australia. The prison was built in stages from 1849 to 1864. Its panopticon design is based on Pentonville Prison in England. The prison was officially closed in 1991 and prisoners were moved to the newly built HM Prison Barwon in Lara. The building now functions as a museum for the history of the prison.

The University Hospital Geelong, formerly the Geelong Hospital, is an Australian public hospital located in Ryrie Street, Geelong, Victoria. The hospital is part of Barwon Health, Victoria's largest regional health care provider, which has 21 sites. It is the largest hospital in regional Victoria and the only tertiary hospital outside of the Melbourne Metropolitan area. The site is bounded by Ryrie, Bellarine, Myers, and Swanston Streets.

The T & G Building is a heritage listed landmark in Geelong, Victoria, Australia, on the corner of Moorabool and Ryrie Streets. The building's style is a blend of Art Deco and Classicism. Both of those styles can be noted in the buildings geometric grooves, vertical lines and stepped form. The exterior of the ground floor features chevron grill patterns, that is characteristic of Art Deco architecture. Construction was announced by the T & G Mutual Life Assurance Society in June 1933, partly with the idea of stimulating employment while Geelong was still suffering the effects of the Great Depression. The building cost AU£37,000 ($74,000, about $4,000,000 today) and was completed in 1934. In June 1934 the unique "Father and Son" clock was switched on. As well as having the usual four clock faces at the top of the tower, the mechanism includes two life-sized cast bronze figures of a farmer and his son, in typical period farm-workers' dress, who emerge from a window in the south side of the upper section the tower and strike the hour on large bell they are both holding. They symbolise a father handing over responsibility to his son, and urging him to continue the good work.By the mid-1990s the building had fallen into disrepair, the clock was unreliable, and the Father and Son no longer appeared to strike the hour. A public campaign led by the Geelong Advertiser resulted in the repainting of the building and the clock being repaired. Much of the ground floor was vacant during 2012, but the building was bought and restored by Dean Montgomery and his brother. In mid-2014, it was purchased by Deakin University to use as student accommodation. The conversion of the building into 33 studio apartments and common areas was commissioned to Studio 101 Architects in Geelong and built by Nicholson Construction.

St. Albans Park is a residential suburb of Geelong, Victoria, 6 km southeast from Geelong's city centre. It is bounded by Boundary Road (West), Coppards Road (East), Townsend Road (North) and the Barwon River (South). The suburbs that surround it are Whittington, Breakwater, Moolap and Marshall. The suburb extends around the St. Albans Homestead and stud, a historic house and accompanying stables. At the 2021 census, St. Albans Park had a population of 4,942.The suburb contains facilities such as an aged care village, church and many parks and reserves. Due to a significant increase in the number of young families moving to the suburb, a new kindergarten has been built in Homestead Drive. The suburb is close to the Bellarine Village and Newcomb Central shopping centres. St Albans Uniting Church in Wilsons Road was built in 1869 and dedicated in 1870. Its beginnings can be traced back to forerunner churches and church gatherings from the early 1840s. Forerunner churches and chapels were located in Lakes Road (now Woods Road) in Boronggoop (early name for St. Albans Park area bounded by Barwon River and extending north east in a 10,000-acre (40 km2) allotment - initially held by Caroline Elizabeth Newcomb - to Point Henry), in Hampstead, (early name for St. Albans Park area bounded by Woods / Coppards / Townsend / Wellington Roads), Regent Street and Chapel Street - the last two both in Whittington.
