Powells Creek (Sydney)

HMAS Karangi was a Bar-class boom defence vessel operated by the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) during World War II. It was constructed by the Cockatoo Docks and Engineering Company at Cockatoo Island Dockyard, Sydney and launched on 16 August 1941. The vessel was awarded the battle honour "Darwin 1942–43" for her wartime service. In 1952, Karangi participated during the atomic tests at Monte Bello Islands. She was sold on 8 September 1966 to L. Bookluck of Enmore and the superstructure was removed before the hulk was abandoned at Homebush Bay in 1970. Liberty Grove is a suburb in the Inner West of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Liberty Grove is located 17 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Canada Bay. Liberty Grove is bound by Homebush Bay Drive (part of the A3 arterial road) to the west and the Main Northern Line railway to the east. It is surrounded by the suburbs of Rhodes to the north and Concord West to the east and south, and it shares the same postcode of 2138. The Liberty Grove development won the 1999 Urban Development Institute of Australia award for excellence.

Brickworks railway station was a suburban railway station located on the Abattoirs line, serving the State Brickworks at Homebush Bay, in the modern Sydney suburb of Sydney Olympic Park. Initially built only for industrial purposes, the station subsequently received public passenger services until its closure in the early 1980s.

Rhodes Waterside (previously known as Rhodes Shopping Centre) is a shopping centre in the suburb of Rhodes in the Inner West of Sydney.

Haslams Creek, a southern tributary of the Parramatta River, is a creek west of Sydney Harbour, located in Sydney, Australia. It flows through Sydney Olympic Park and joins Parramatta River at Homebush Bay. In 1793, the first grants were made to free settlers, with Samuel Haslam receiving his first grant in 1806. A 50 acre grant north of Parramatta Road, the first grant, was followed by a second small grant south of Parramatta Road and east of Haslams Creek. Haslams Creek flowed through the holdings of the Sydney Meat Preserving Company Ltd 1876-1965, which at one point damned the creek. When opened, Lidcombe railway station actually bore the name Haslams Creek Station

The SS Ayrfield was a steel-hulled cargo ship that was built in Scotland, United Kingdom and was registered in Sydney, Australia in 1912. It was in service for 60 years before becoming a mangrove as it remained aground on Homebush Bay in Western Sydney. Known as a "floating forest", the ship has been reclaimed by dense stands of trees whose branches cascade over its sides, and gradually break down the hull. It is the most popular of the abandoned freighters found in the Parramatta River, with the other lesser known ones being the SS Heroic, HMAS Karangi, and SS Mortlake Bank.

The Sydney International Archery Park was specially designed for archery during the 2000 Summer Olympics. The stadium is located in Sydney Olympic Park. It was designed by Stutchbury and Pape.The Archery Centre is located opposite the Waterfront Apartments on Bennelong Parkway, and is about 3 km from Sydney Olympic Park town centre. The venue hosts a wide range of events, such as school holiday programs for kids, beginners' courses, school programs, casual archers and professional coaching. There are facilities available for corporate team building, as well as laser clay pigeon shooting. The venue sports a 100 x 10 metre Archery pavilion, and has parking spaces for bicycles and 80 motor vehicles. Simon Fairweather won the first ever gold medal for Australia during the Sydney 2000 Olympic games.

The Brickpit Ring Walk is an urban nature park and walkway that serves as a water storage and frog habitat, located in the Bicentennial Park, in the Sydney Olympic Park, in western Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Once a brick manufacturing site, the land was to be redeveloped as part of the site for the 2000 Sydney Olympic and Paralympic Games, however the 1992 discovery of the then endangered Green and Golden Bell Frog (Litoria aurea) placed a hold on developments. The urban nature park and walkway was established in 2006.

Bicentennial Park is a 40-hectare (99-acre) suburban parkland located 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) west of the Sydney central business district in the suburb of Sydney Olympic Park, in the local government area of City of Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia. Bicentennial Park is situated on the shores of Homebush Bay and is a part of the Sydney Olympic Park. The park is a natural heritage site featuring an important wetland ecosystem and parklands.

Concord West railway station is located on the Main Northern line, serving the Sydney suburb of Concord West. It is served by the Sydney Trains T9 Northern Line services.

Opal Tower is a residential tower located in the suburb of Sydney Olympic Park in the Australian state of New South Wales. It was completed in August 2018. The high-rise residential tower was built by Icon, developed by Ecove and designed by Bates Smart Architects. The building has 392 apartments, with 34 above ground levels and three levels underground. The building was approved in June 2015 by the Liberal Party of Australia's former Planning Minister Robert Stokes as a major building project. Inconsistencies with the buildings structure have largely been related to under-design and lower quality materials. Development weakness is of increased concern, particularly during Sydney's construction boom to compensate for Sydney's increasing population density. On 24 December 2018 residents reported loud banging noises, cracks and other issues that resulted in an evacuation of the building, and nearby buildings, several hours after midnight. The evacuation eventually totaled over 3,000 people living in or near the building, and led to a report by university deans, with recommendations to create a directory of engineers who work on buildings. In February 2019, New South Wales announced it would change building laws after the evacuation. The new regulations require the registration of designers, engineers, and architects, with building commissioners appointed to audit their work.

Concord West (also known as West Concord) is a suburb on the periphery of Sydney's inner-west, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Concord West is located 16 km west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Canada Bay. Concord is a separate suburb, to the east. Concord West is bordered on the west by Rhodes, Liberty Grove and Homebush Bay; to the south by North Strathfield and Homebush; and to the east by Concord, Breakfast Point, Cabarita and Mortlake. It shares the postcode of 2138 with Rhodes. The suburb takes its namesake from the town of Concord, Massachusetts in the United States of America.
