The West Valley is a region of Santa Clara Valley in the San Francisco Bay Area. Making up the western portion of Santa Clara County, the West Valley includes the West San Jose neighborhood of the city of San Jose, along with the cities of Campbell, Cupertino, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, and Saratoga. The West Valley is home to several notable high-tech Silicon Valley headquarters, such as Apple in Cupertino and Netflix in Los Gatos.

Westgate Center (or Westgate Shopping Center) is a 640,000 sq ft (59,000 m2) regional shopping center located in the West San Jose neighborhood of San Jose, California. The mall is located at the intersection of Saratoga Avenue and Campbell Avenue. Current major anchor tenants include Burlington Coat Factory, Nordstrom Rack, Ross Dress for Less, TJ Maxx, and Target, along with Michael's, Old Navy, Gap Factory Store, and Nike Factory Store.

Njeri's Morning Glory School and Art Center, located in San Jose, California, has been registered in the California Department of Education since 2008.It is an educational space for parents and children and is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Gubserville () was a historic stagecoach, mail, and teamster stop along the road between West San Jose and Saratoga in Santa Clara County, California, United States. The early settlement was named after Frank Gubser, a German immigrant who worked as a barber, saloon keeper, and served as the village's first and only postmaster since July 5, 1882. Gubserville ceased to exist when the post office discontinued operations in 1899. Today, the old ghost of Gubserville is marked by the California Historical Landmark #447.

The Santa Clara County Library District is a public library system headquartered in Campbell, California. The library serves the communities and cities of Campbell, Cupertino, Gilroy, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Milpitas, Monte Sereno, Morgan Hill, Saratoga, and all unincorporated areas of Santa Clara County. Other cities in Santa Clara County run their own library systems. In addition to these libraries, the library provides mobile library service with a bookmobile which visits preschools, retirement communities, migrant farmworker camps, and rural communities without easy access to library services. In 2020 SCCLD also launched a new website featuring a 24/7 online library. Member libraries include Campbell Library, Cupertino Library, Gilroy Library, Los Altos Library, Woodland (Los Altos) Branch Library, Milpitas Library, Morgan Hill Library, and Saratoga Library. The Santa Clara County Library District has been repeatedly recognized as a four-star library by Library Journal. As of 2019, the Santa Clara County Library had a combined collection totaling 2.1 million items and served a combined population of 444,567.

The Warner Hutton House is a historic house in Saratoga, California. It was built in 1896 for Warner Hutton. Hutton was born in New York, and he inherited landholdings from his father, a fruit farmer. The house was acquired by the city of Saratoga in 1987.The house was designed in the Queen Anne architectural style. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since March 17, 2006.

The Moreland School was established in 1851, as California's oldest rural school district in the state. On November 6, 1953, the California State Park Commission, erected a commemorative plaque that designates this site as California Historical Landmark #489. The historical marker is located on Payne Avenue, approximately 100 yards east of Saratoga Avenue, in San Jose, Santa Clara County, California. The first public school building was the former residence of Zechariah Moreland. It was acquired for use as a school on November 13, 1852, through the efforts of the school's third teacher, Samuel Curtis Rogers. The Moreland School building stood at the intersection of Payne and Saratoga Avenues. In 1951, the old Moreland School building was dismantled from its original location, making way for the Moreland Apartments. Today, the Moreland School District is a PreK-8 public school district headquartered in San Jose.

Saint Andrew's Episcopal School is an American independent co-educational day school, which teaches pre-kindergarten to grade eight in Saratoga, Santa Clara County, California. Although affiliated with the Episcopal Church, Saint Andrews's welcomes students of all beliefs and includes teaching about all major faiths. It was founded in 1961, as a ministry of Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church, in the Episcopal Diocese of El Camino Real. The school is organized into two divisions: the Lower School (pre-kindergarten–5th grade) and the Middle School (grades 6–8). The California Association of Independent Schools accredits the school. Saint Andrew's Episcopal School is also a member of the National Association of Episcopal Schools and the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). El Rancho Rinconada de los Gatos was a 6,631-acre (26.83 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Santa Clara County, California made in 1840 by Governor Juan Alvarado to Jose Maria Hernandez and Sebastian Fabian Peralta. Located in the southern San Francisco Bay Area, the grant included present-day Los Gatos and Monte Sereno, along with about a third of Campbell. It also included small sections of present-day San Jose, Saratoga and unincorporated Santa Clara County. Los Gatos Creek flowed through the center of the rancho. The name means "corner of the cats" and is derived from the cougars that are still present in the nearby hills, as well as the "corner" formed by the narrowing gap between El Sereno and El Sombroso mountains.
