River Street Firehouse

The Amigos School or La Escuela Amigos School, is a dual-language immersion bilingual Kindergarten to eighth (k-8) school in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. The Spanish-immersion program began in 1986 at the Maynard School and became an autonomous school within the Cambridge Public School District in 2001.

The Andrew Newman House is a historic house in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is a 1+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure, five bays wide, with a central chimney and an entrance sheltered by an enclosed vestibule. Built in 1823, this single story wood-frame house is one of the oldest houses in the Cambridgeport area of the city. The house is also unusual for its construction date, since it is a Georgian style Cape house, as opposed to the then-prevalent Federal style. Its first owner was a ropemaker.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Cheney Read House is an historic house at 135 Western Avenue in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. The 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built in 1846 by William Hyde, and is the only house in Cambridge's Cambridgeport neighborhood with a two-story Greek portico. It has four full-height Doric columns, with a gable end that is steeper than the usual Greek Revival style. It has a side-entry plan, with the entrance flanked by pilasters and topped by a pedimented lintel.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Upper Magazine Street Historic District is a historic district encompassing a well-preserved stretch of mid-19th century housing in the Cambridgeport neighborhood of Cambridge, Massachusetts. It includes two blocks of Magazine Street, between Upton and William Streets, and one block of William Street, between Magazine and Pearl Streets. The properties in the district include a diversity of architectural styles popular between the 1840s and 1880s.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Kerry Quarter in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States also called the Lower Marsh, was reclaimed from the Charles River during the construction of the Harvard River Dormitories. In a deal with the city of Cambridge, Harvard sold much of the reclaimed land along Putnam Ave to parishioners of St. Paul's Church in nearby Harvard Square. The new immigrants that moved to the area were almost entirely of Irish descent, and many hailed from County Kerry one of the hardest hit in the Irish Famine thus giving the area its name. For a long time this small quarter near Harvard housed some of the poorest people in the city, and still has several low income housing developments in around Putnam Ave. Although now mostly gentrified with condos taking over the former triple deckers of Irish immigrants, old residents still refer to it as the Kerry Quarter.

The Edmund Reardon House is a historic house in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The 2.5-story Queen Anne house was built in 1884 for Edmund Reardon, whose family operated a nearby soap factory. The house has elaborately decorated porches and half-timbering in various gable ends.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Cambridgeport is one of the neighborhoods of Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is bounded by Massachusetts Avenue, the Charles River, the Grand Junction Railroad, and River Street. The neighborhood contains predominantly residential homes, many of the triple decker style common in New England. Central Square, at the northernmost part of Cambridgeport, is an active commercial district and transportation hub, and University Park is a collection of renovated or recently constructed office and apartment buildings. The neighborhood also includes Fort Washington Park, several MIT buildings, and Magazine Beach. The neighborhood is Area 5 of Cambridge.

Cambridge Zen Center is an urban meditation center in Cambridge, Massachusetts, close to Harvard University, part of the Kwan Um School of Zen. Free meditation training and dharma talks are offered to the public and the Zen Center also provides a large (30-35 people) residential training program.

Franklin Street Park is an urban neighborhood park in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The park is a house-sized lot in the Riverside neighborhood on 495 Franklin Street between Bay Street and Hancock Street.

The Urban Rowhouse is an historic residential rowhouse located at 26–32 River Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. These rowhouses were built in 1860 by Frederick Clapp, and are among the earliest surviving examples of the type in the city. They feature a combination of brick and brownstone masonry, but also with some trim made out of wood that has been treated to appear like brownstone. They bear some resemblance to rowhouses built at the same time in Boston's South End.The rowhouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Ernst Flentje House is an historic house at 129 Magazine Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This three story wood frame apartment house exhibits the adaptive reuse of buildings. It was built in 1866 as a Second Empire single family residence with a mansard roof. In 1900 it was restyled by Ernst Flentje and converted into a three unit apartment house. It is one of the most exuberantly decorated triple deckers in the city.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Valentine Soap Workers Cottages are a pair of adjacent historic houses in Cambridge, Massachusetts, that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.The cottages are located at 5–7 Cottage Street and 101 Pearl Street. They were listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 30, 1983.The two cottages were built for worker housing in 1835, by local soap manufacturer Charles Valentine. Valentine's soap factory was located nearby at the corner of Valentine and Pearl Streets. Founded in 1828, it was at the time one of the largest manufacturing operations in the Cambridgeport section of the city. An historic marker for the cottages identifies them as the only examples of factory housing in Cambridge.
