Ballancourt-sur-Essonne (French pronunciation: [balɑ̃kuʁ syʁ ɛsɔn] , literally Ballancourt on Essonne) is a commune in the Essonne department in Île-de-France in northern France.

The Juine (French pronunciation: [ʒɥin]) is a French river, 53 kilometres (33 mi) long. It is a left tributary of the river Essonne.Its source is in Loiret, in the forest of Chambaudoin, less than 3 km south-west from Autruy-sur-Juine. Its name originates in the hamlet of Juines which she runs alongside before re-entering the Essonne department, in which it runs through several communes: Méréville, Saint-Cyr-la-Rivière, Ormoy-la-Rivière, Étampes, Étréchy, Chamarande, Janville-sur-Juine, Bouray-sur-Juine, Lardy. It also runs through the parks of several châteaux (Saint-Vrain, Chamarande, and Mesnil-Voisin) and once served several now-abandoned mills. From the 15th to the 18th century, it combined with the Essonne and Seine rivers to form a navigable waterway for flat-bottomed boats carrying wheat from Beauce towards Paris. It joins the river Essonne between Itteville and Vert-le-Petit, near Ballancourt-sur-Essonne.

The La Ferté-Alais Air Show is an annual meeting of aviation enthusiasts, flight organizations, companies, and pilots in the village of La Ferté-Alais, France. It takes place during Pentecost at the Cerny airfield (ICAO: LFFQ), which is owned and operated by the "Amicale Jean-Baptiste Salis" (AJBS). The airfield is also the site of the Musée Volant Salis, hosting 70 aircraft from the past century. In preparation for the airshow, dozens of vintage aircraft are come from Europe and the US for display and flight demonstrations. The show regularly starts with a flight demonstration of vintage aircraft such as the Blériot XI and Stearman. It is then usually followed with an aerobatic and pyrotechnic display of warbirds such as the T-6 texan and T-28 Trojan. The French Air Force (Armée de l'Air) then often presents some of the aircraft in their fleet, such as the Rafale, Atlantique and Mirage aircraft. The French Sécurite Civile sometimes comes to demonstrate their technology such as water bombers and surveillance helicopters. This is followed by personal presentations of special individual aircraft performing aerobatics and flight demonstrations. The airshow usually ends with demonstrations by the Patrouille de France and Rafale Solo Display. On rare occasions, Air France performs a flyby with their flagship aircraft, such as the Concorde in 1988 or the Boeing 777 in 2019.

La Ferté-Alais (French pronunciation: [la fɛʁte alɛ] ) is a commune in the Essonne department in Île-de-France in northern France. It is 52 km (32 mi) south of Paris. It used to be a fortress closing the access to the French royal estate from the Essonne valley, then became an industrial village with sand and stones. Its airfield (actually in Cerny), hosts a world-famous air show for vintage World War I and WWII aircraft and a museum of such aircraft. It even has the aircraft (still airworthy) that Louis Blériot used to cross the English Channel in 1909.
