Upton is a village and civil parish in the Peterborough district, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. For electoral purposes it forms part of Glinton and Wittering ward in North West Cambridgeshire constituency. The population of the parish is included in the civil parish of Sutton. The Parish Church of St John the Baptist is a 12th-century Norman church with a north aisle rebuilt in 17th century. It was a chapel-of-ease and was built as a daughter church to St Kyneburgha's at Castor. The church is a Grade I listed building. It is set in the fields to the east of the village, 100 yards from the Roman King Street.

Ailsworth or Ailesworth is a village and civil parish in the City of Peterborough unitary authority, about 4.5 miles (7.2 km) west of the city centre. The parish is part of the former Soke of Peterborough, which was considered geographically part of Northamptonshire until in 1974, following the Local Government Act 1972, it became part of Cambridgeshire. In the 2001 census the population stood at 413 (188 households) and this has increased to 559 (248 households) in the 2011 census

John Clare Cottage is a cottage and literary museum in Helpston, Peterborough, United Kingdom. The cottage was the birthplace of English poet John Clare (1793-1864). The thatched Grade II* cottage at 12 Woodgate, Helpston, originally consisted of five smaller tenement buildings, that were joined into a single structure at a later date.The cottage was bought by the John Clare Trust in 2005. In May 2007, the Trust gained £1.27 million of funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and commissioned Jefferson Sheard Architects to create a new landscape design and Visitor Centre, including a cafe, shop and exhibition space. The Cottage was restored using traditional building methods and is open to the public. In 2013 the John Clare Trust received a further grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to help preserve the building and provide educational activities for young people visiting the cottage.The garden behind the cottage is maintained by volunteers, and planted with varieties which would have been seen in Clare's time.The John Clare Cottage forms part of the Fens Museum Partnership, along with Peterborough Museum and Flag Fen.

Helpston (also, formerly, "Helpstone") is an English village in Cambridgeshire. Historically; it was formerly in the Soke of Peterborough in Northamptonshire, subsequently (1965–1974) in Huntingdon and Peterborough, then in Cambridgeshire. It is administered by the City of Peterborough unitary authority. The civil parish of Helpston covers an area of 1,860 acres (750 ha) and had an estimated population in 2011 of 981.The parish church is dedicated to St Botolph; the chancel window was created by Francis Skeat and depicts "Christ in Majesty".The poet John Clare was born in Helpston in 1793 and is buried in the churchyard of St Botolph's. The thatched cottage where he was born was bought by the John Clare Trust in 2005. The John Clare Cottage, at 12 Woodgate, has been restored using traditional building methods and is open to the public. In 2013 the John Clare Trust received a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to help preserve the building and provide educational activities for youngsters visiting the cottage. John Clare Primary School is named after the poet. The name Helpston is Anglo-Saxon in origin and means the farmstead (tun) first settled by Help (an Old English personal name). Helpston is well known for its athletics club, Helpston Harriers AC, who aspire to improve local running standards.

Castor Railway Station was a station serving the villages Castor and Ailsworth in Cambridgeshire. It was on the old London and North Western Railway Northampton to Peterborough line. On 3 January 1945 the station was badly damaged by a V1 attack. The station closed in 1957 but trains between Rugby and Peterborough East continued to run until the line itself closed in 1966. The line between Wansford and Peterborough has since been reopened as the Nene Valley Railway, although Castor station itself remains closed.

The Nene Valley Railway (NVR) is a preserved railway in Cambridgeshire, England, running between Peterborough Nene Valley and Yarwell Junction. The line is 7+1⁄2 miles (12.1 km) in length. There are stations at each terminus, and three stops en route: Orton Mere, Ferry Meadows and Wansford.

Castor Flood Meadows is a 41.8-hectare (103-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest on the western outskirts of Peterborough in Cambridgeshire.This site on the banks of the River Nene is a remnant of formerly extensive flood meadows. Flora include slender tufted-sedges, early marsh-orchids and the nationally restricted narrow-leaved water-dropwort.The Hereward Way long distance footpath goes through the site.

Sutton is a small village and civil parish in the Peterborough district, in the north-west of Cambridgeshire, England. Situated about 5.7 miles from Peterborough and approximately half a mile south of the A47 road. For electoral purposes it forms part of Glinton and Wittering ward in North West Cambridgeshire constituency. According to Office for National Statistics Sutton has a population (including Upton) of 196 with a population density of 0.2.

Ufford is a village and civil parish, now in the Peterborough unitary authority of the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. It was historically part of the Soke of Peterborough, which was associated with Northamptonshire but had its own County Council from 1888 until 1974. For electoral purposes it forms part of Barnack ward and is in the North West Cambridgeshire constituency. St Andrew's Church is a Grade I listed medieval building that is closed and has passed into the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. Most of the church dates from the 14th century. It consists of a nave without a clerestory, aisles, and a chancel. There is also a west tower, and a rood turret near the junction of the nave and chancel, both of which are embattled. The church contains a series of 20th-century Arts and Crafts stained glass by Mary Lowndes.Ufford Hall is also a Grade I listed building. The Hall was built in 1734 for Lord Charles Manners, a younger son of the Duke of Rutland. Until his death in 1996 it was lived in by Oliver Kitson, 4th Baron Airedale.

Helpston railway station was a station in Helpston, Cambridgeshire, on the Midland Railway's Syston and Peterborough Railway. It was closed in 1966. The Great Northern Railway main line runs adjacent to the Midland Railway at this point, but the Great Northern never had a station in Helpston. This was due to an agreement whereby the Midland carried materials to the site during construction of the Great Northern, and in return the Great Northern offered no competition for services on this section.The goods shed survives, as does the Great Northern Railway signal box, which is now used only to monitor a number of level crossings in the vicinity. Helpston level crossing itself carries the Helpston to Glinton road over the four tracks of the ex-GNR line and the two tracks of the ex-MR line. This was previously two separate level crossings, controlled by two separate signal boxes. There was space for two cars between the level crossings. The crossings were merged and converted from gates to full barriers in the 1970s.
