Aberarth

Pont Aberarth, also known as the Llanddewi-Aberarth Bridge, is a single-arched grade II listed bridge, which spans the River Arth in the village of Aberarth, Ceredigion, Wales. It was completed in 1849, and carries the A487 trunk road between Cardigan and Aberystwyth.

The River Arth is a small river that rises in the hills near Bethania, Ceredigion, Wales, and runs west for 15 miles (24 km) and discharges into Cardigan Bay at Aberarth. Despite its small size it is one of the few rivers in Britain which has a bore when the incoming tide cause a tidal wave to run upstream. The bore is only a few inches high and it runs only for a short distance upstream; beyond the road bridge in Aberarth the terrain rises steeply, preventing the bore propagating any further. In the 1970s, the River Arth suffered severe intermittent agricultural pollution from a dairy unit not far from the village but improved pollution control and a change of ownership of the farm rectified that position.

Ysgol Gyfun Aberaeron is a bilingual comprehensive school for pupils aged between 11 and 18 years. The school is situated in the town of Aberaeron in Ceredigion, Wales. The school had 581 pupils on roll in 2022.34% of pupils are from homes in which Welsh is the main language. However, 70% of pupils speak Welsh as a first language or to an equal standard. As of 2016, over 80% of pupils in Year 10 and Year 11 study at least three examination subjects through the medium of Welsh.The school ranked very low in the Welsh league tables (153rd out of 217 schools in Wales) in 2013. The school reached first position in the Western Mail league tables the following year (2014). The school achieved a 5 star rating (the highest possible ranking) for teaching; attainment and finance. According to the paper the “School’s mission to ‘provide a inclusive centre of excellence within a bilingual community’ has doubtless been achieved.”

The Ceredigion Coast Path (Welsh: Llwybr Arfordir Ceredigion) is a waymarked long distance footpath in the United Kingdom, on the coast of Ceredigion, Wales. It is 65 miles (105 km) in length, running along the coast of Cardigan Bay from Cardigan (52.0810°N 4.6608°W / 52.0810; -4.6608 (Ceredigion Coast Path, southern end)) to Ynyslas (52.5271°N 4.0495°W / 52.5271; -4.0495 (Ceredigion Coast Path, northern end)). The path forms one section of the Wales Coast Path, an 870-mile (1,400 km) long-distance walking route around the whole coast of Wales from Chepstow to Queensferry, opened in 2012.

Alban Square, in the centre of Aberaeron, Ceredigion, Wales is a range of early 19th century townhouses. The town of Aberaeron was developed around 1810 as a port by the Rev. Alban Thomas Jones Gwynne, a local landowner. After his father's death in 1819, Colonel A.T.J. Gwynne engaged Edward Haycock Sr. to plan a major expansion. Leases were sold in the early 1830s and Alban Square was designed, but largely unbuilt, by 1834. The town grew as a centre for shipbuilding and commerce. The expansion of the railways, and their arrival in Aberaeron in 1909 brought these commercial endeavours to an end and the town became a seaside resort and a centre for local government. No.s 9-20 inclusive on Alban Square are Grade II* listed buildings, their Cadw listing records describing the square as "a well preserved terrace in a key location".

Aberaeron Hospital (Welsh: Ysbyty Aberaeron) was a community hospital in Aberaeron, Wales. It was managed by the Hywel Dda University Health Board.

The Castle Hotel, Aberaeron is located in a Grade II listed building in the coastal town of Aberaeron, Ceredigion, West Wales. The building is part of the original 19th century planned town and is located near the town harbour. It continues to operate as a pub and hotel. In recent times the interior decor of the building was updated interior designer Ann Hughes, who also designed the Harbourmaster Hotel. The hotel regularly takes part in the annual Aberaeron Seafood Festival. The hotel received a grant from the Welsh Assembly Government in 2008, and in 2011 won Bronze in the local 'Curiad Calon' Healthy Food scheme.

Aberaeron (Welsh pronunciation: [abɛˈrei̯rɔn]), previously anglicised as Aberayron, is a town, community and electoral ward in Ceredigion, Wales. Located on the coast between Aberystwyth and Cardigan, its resident population was 1,274 in the 2021 census.The name of the town is Welsh for "mouth of the Aeron". It is derived from the Middle Welsh aer (slaughter), which gave its name to Aeron, believed by some to have been a Welsh god of war.One of the main Ceredigion County Council office sites is located in Aberaeron.

Aberayron railway station in Aberaeron was the terminus of the Lampeter, Aberayron and New Quay Light Railway branch line of the Carmarthen to Aberystwyth Line in Ceredigion, Wales. The branch diverged from the through line at Lampeter.

County Hall (Welsh: Neuadd y Sir Aberaeron), formerly Aberaeron Town Hall (Welsh: Neuadd y Dref Aberaeron), is a municipal building in Market Street, Aberaeron, Ceredigion, Wales. The structure, which is now used as a public library, is a Grade II listed building.

The River Aeron (Welsh: Afon Aeron) is a small river in Ceredigion, Wales, that flows into Cardigan Bay at Aberaeron. It is also referred to on some older maps as the River Ayron.
