Kennebec Arsenal

The Algernon Bangs House is a historic house at 16 East Chestnut Street in Augusta, Maine. Built in 1892, it is a distinctive and idiosyncratic exhibition of Queen Anne architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, and now houses professional offices.

The Memorial Bridge, also known as the Kennebec Memorial Bridge, is a bridge in Augusta, Maine, that crosses the Kennebec River, joining the east and west sides of the city. It carries U.S. Route 201, U.S. Route 202, Route 11, and Route 100. The bridge is approximately 2,100 feet (640 m) long and has two lanes for traffic and a barrier-protected sidewalk for pedestrians on each side of the roadway. It was built in 1949.

The Maine Insane Hospital, later the Augusta Mental Health Institute (AMHI), was a psychiatric hospital in Augusta, Maine. It was the principal facility for the care and treatment of Maine's mentally ill from 1840 to 2004, and its surviving buildings represent the oldest surviving complex of mental care facilities in the United States. The complex is located on the east bank of the Kennebec River, immediately south of the former Kennebec Arsenal, and now primarily houses state offices. In 2004, the hospital was replaced by the Riverview Psychiatric Center, located just to the south. The hospital's core complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, with the listing enlarged to encompass the entire campus in 2001.

The Governor Samuel Cony House also known as the William Payson Viles House, is an historic house at 71 Stone Street in Augusta, Maine. Built in 1846, it is a fine example of a Greek Revival house altered with Classical Revival features in the 20th century. It was home for 20 years to Samuel Cony, Governor of Maine from 1864 to 1867, and also his son-in-law, Joseph Homan Manley. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

The Vickery Building is a historic commercial building at 261 Water Street in downtown Augusta, Maine. Built 1895 to a design by John C. Spofford, it is one of the downtown's few granite commercial buildings, built for Peleg O. Vickery, a leading publisher and three-term mayor of the city. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Cushnoc Archeological Site, also known as Cushnoc (ME 021.02) or Koussinoc or Coussinoc, is an archaeological site in Augusta, Maine that was the location of a 17th-century trading post operated by English colonists from Plymouth Colony in present-day Massachusetts. The trading post was built in 1628 and lies on the Kennebec River. The English primarily traded with bands of the Abenaki nation. Later the British colonists developed Fort Western, an 18th-century stockade fort, adjacent to this site. It became the center of development for the city of Augusta. The Cushnoc site is significant as it provides a window into trading, living, and construction practices in the early period of colonial settlement in New England. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1993.

The Journal Building (also known as the Gannett Building and Handley Hall) is a historic commercial building at 325-331 Water Street in downtown Augusta, Maine. Built in 1899 to a design by Arthur G. Wing, it is a fine local example of commercial Renaissance Revival architecture. It was for main years home to Augusta's leading newspaper, the Kennebec Journal. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. It is now occupied by facilities of the University of Maine at Augusta.

Cony Flatiron is a historic school building at Cony and Stone Streets in Augusta, Maine. Built between 1926 and 1932 and the high school building, along with the catwalk was demolished in 2008, it is locally unusual for its flatiron shape, and its social history as the city's third high school building. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The Masonic Hall is a historic commercial and fraternal society building at 313-321 Water Street in downtown Augusta, Maine. Built in 1894, it is a significant work of Boston architect John Spofford, and a good local example of restrained Renaissance Revival architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Old Post Office and Court House is a historic former federal government building at 295 Water Street in downtown Augusta, Maine. Built in 1886-1890, it is one of Maine's finest surviving examples of Romanesque Revival architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Fort Western is a former British colonial outpost at the head of navigation on the Kennebec River at modern Augusta, Maine, United States. It was built in 1754 during the French and Indian War, and is now a National Historic Landmark and local historic site owned by the city. Its main building, the only original element of the fort to survive, was restored in 1920 and now depicts its original use as a trading post.

Riverview Psychiatric Center, also known as Riverview Psychiatric Recovery Center, is a psychiatric hospital in Augusta, Maine, operated by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services. The center recruits for volunteers from the United Way for certain services.
