St. Patrick's Church, Chennai

The Butt Road Jama Masjid is a mosque located in St Thomas Mount on the outskirts of Chennai, India. Situated at a distance of 13 kilometres from Chennai city and 2 kilometres from Guindy on the Mount-Poonamallee Road, the mosque caters to the Muslim population of the suburb and the nearby cantonment.

St. Thomas Mount National Shrine Basilica is a national shrine located in Parangimalai in Tamil Nadu. The ancient Syrian Christian community of India traces the origin of their church to St. Thomas the Apostle. A shrine dedicated to "Our Lady of Expectation" (Mother Mary) was built in 1523 on top of the Mount. The altar of this shrine was built on the spot where St. Thomas' death is traditionally believed to have occurred. At the northern foot of the mount is a gateway of four impressive arches surmounted by a cross bearing the inscribed date 1547. A flight of 160 steps leads up to the summit of the mount. The steps leading up the hill were donated by the famous Armenian Coja Petrus Uscan. There are 14 Stations of the Cross on the way to the summit. The 500th anniversary of the church was celebrated in November 2023. Pope John Paul II visited the place on February 5, 1986. The shrine was elevated to the status of a minor basilica on 3 July 2025. The church is home to the Bleeding Cross of St. Thomas - a relic venerated as having been carved by the Apostle himself. Tradition holds that this Cross miraculously oozed blood on December 18th, the date commemorated as the martyrdom of St. Thomas, for 150 consecutive years. Parangimalai (known in English as St. Thomas Mount) is a small hillock in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, near the neighbourhood of Guindy and very close to Chennai International Airport. The ancient Syrian Christian community of India trace the origin of their church to St. Thomas the Apostle. From the 17th century, this part of Chennai was populated predominantly by Anglo-Indians. The St. Thomas Garrison Church is at the foot of St. Thomas Mount. The St. Thomas Syro Malabar Catholic Church is located east of the shrine at North Silver Street, footholds of the mountain shrine. The neighbourhood is served by the St. Thomas Mount railway station, on the southern line of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network. Integration of the Metro and MRTS with the suburban station in the neighbourhood, is expected to make the suburb the city's largest transit hub after Chennai Central.In the state assembly elections of 1967 and 1971, there was a constituency known as the Parangimalai.

Parangimalai Assembly constituency (Tamil: பரங்கிமலை சட்டமன்ற தொகுதி) is one of the 234 state legislative assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu, a state in southern India is now defunct. It was in existence in 1967 and 1971 assembly elections. At that time, this constituency was represented only by the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu M. G. Ramachandran. Later it was merged with Alandur assembly constituency from 1977 assembly election.

St. Thomas Garrison Church (also called St. Thomas English Garrison Church) is one of the oldest churches in the St. Thomas Mount area of Chennai, the capital of the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The Church was built by the British government at the request of the army officers in the area in 1830. The church was constructed with bomb-proof roof and rust-proof iron railings, and most of the materials for the construction were imported from Britain. It is located in the foothills of St. Thomas Mount and named after St. Thomas, one of the twelve apostles who resided at the place during his final years. St. Thomas English Garrison Church is a working church with hourly prayer and daily services and follows the Protestant Christian tradition. In modern times, it is under the dominion of Diocese of Madras of the Church of South India. The Church is declared as a heritage monument under the Chennai Circle of the Archaeological Survey of India.

Madras War Cemetery is located in Nandambakkam, Chennai (formerly Madras), Tamil Nadu, India. It was created to receive Second World War graves from civil and cantonment cemeteries in the south and east of India where their permanent maintenance could not be assured.

Arignar Anna Alandur Metro, commonly known as the Alandur Metro, is an elevated metro station that is part of the Blue Line and the Green Line of the Chennai Metro, and serves as an interchange station between the two lines. The station is one of the two metro stations where the two lines intersect, the other being the Chennai Central metro station. It is the city's first multi-level railway station. It is the only station where passengers from the two corridors can swap the direction of travel. On 31 July 2020, It has been named by Government of Tamil Nadu as Arignar Anna Alandur Metro to honor the DMK founder and the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu C. N. Annadurai.

Chennai Trade Centre is a permanent exhibition complex in Nandambakkam, Chennai, hosting several trade fairs and conventions round the year. It is the first fair infrastructure that has been developed by India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO)—the premier trade promotion agency of the Government of India, Ministry of Commerce and Industry—outside Delhi. A joint initiative of the ITPO and the Tamil Nadu Trade Promotion Organisation, which hold 51 and 49 percent stakes, respectively, the Trade Centre was designed by C R Narayan Rao, and was commissioned in January 2001, while the convention centre was commissioned on 1 November 2004. The exhibition hall was constructed at an estimated cost of ₹ 23 crore and the convention centre at a cost of ₹ 22 crore. Together, these centres cover 10,560 sq m and are fully booked for 75 days in a year. Built over an area of 25.48 acres, the centre comprises four modules of 4,400 m2 each of exhibition halls and support services to be built in a phased manner. In the first phase, two air-conditioned halls without pillars or columns encompassing areas of 5,000 m2 and 1,850 m2 were constructed. There are three halls, viz, Hall No. 1 (4,400 m2), Hall No. 2 (1,760 m2) and Hall No. 3 (4,400 m2). The halls feature a height of 6 m to display all merchandise including machinery. These have been supplemented recently with a modern, fully air-conditioned convention centre. All the halls are inter-linked, and Hall No. 3 is connected with the convention centre. The convention centre can accommodate 2,000 people with a provision for dividing the hall into two equal parts and has an audiovisual facility suitable for multi-purpose use such as conferences, conventions, cultural shows, and so forth. The Chennai Trade Centre is managed by Tamil Nadu Trade Promotion Organisation (TNTPO), a joint venture of ITPO and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO).

Nanganallur Road metro station is a metro railway station on the Blue Line of the Chennai Metro. The station serves the neighbourhoods of Alandur, Nanganallur and St. Thomas Mount, among others.

Kathipara Junction is an important road junction in Chennai, India. It is located at Alandur at the intersection of the Grand Southern Trunk Road, Inner Ring Road, Anna Salai and Mount-Poonamallee Road. Kathipara flyover is the largest cloverleaf flyover in South Asia.

Alandur is a legislative assembly in Chennai district and partially includes areas from Chengalpattu district and Kanchipuram District in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Its State Assembly Constituency number is 28. It consists of portions that includes the Alandur, Nanganallur, Adambakkam, Palavanthangal, Moulivakkam, Nandambakkam, Iyyapanthangal, Manapakkam, Mugalivakkam, Cowl Bazaar, St Thomas Mount cum Pallavaram Cantonment Board, Gerugambakkam, Kolapakkam, and some other parts of Chennai City and forms a part of Sriperumbudur constituency for elections to the Parliament of India. It is one of the 234 State Legislative Assembly Constituencies in Tamil Nadu, in India.

Alandur taluk is a taluk of the district of Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The centre of the taluk is the neighbourhood of Alandur. The headquarters of the taluk is Guindy division. On 4 January 2018, Chennai district was expanded by annexing Alandur taluk.
