Kanaker-Zeytun District

Kanaker (Armenian: Քանաքեռ; also Romanized as K’anak’err, Kenaker, Kanaker, and Qanaqer) was a village in Armenia to the north-east of the capital Yerevan. With the urban development of Yerevan in the 20th century, the village was gradually absorbed by the capital, thus becoming part of the Kanaker-Zeytun District.Notable natives of Kanaker include the writer and educator Khachatur Abovian and the composer Djivan Gasparyan. The town was home to many churches that were severely damaged during the earthquake of 1679. The oldest church of Kanaker is Saint Jacob Church (Surp Hakop) rebuilt in 1679 after the earthquake. Holy Mother of God Church (Surp Astvatsatsin) on a hilltop to the northwest was built in 1695. The Russian Orthodox Church of the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God was built in Kanaker in 1912. Kanaker played a key role in the Russian siege of Yerevan in 1827.

Surp Hakob Church (Armenian: Սուրբ Հակոբ Եկեղեցի; also, Saint Jacob of Nisibis) is located in the Kanaker-Zeytun District within the city limits of Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. Its sister-church, Surp Astvatsatsin (also, Holy Mother of God Church, built in 1695), is located upon a hilltop to the northwest within sight of the Church of S. Hakob.

Chinese-Armenian Friendship School (Armenian: Հայ-չինական բարեկամության դպրոց, Chinese: 中国-亚美尼亚友谊学校) is a school in Kanaker, Yerevan, Armenia. It serves grades 5 through 12. It is Armenian-medium with Chinese language being a major focus of study. The school, with a capacity of 405 students, opened on August 22, 2018. It includes a museum related to Chinese-relevant topics. Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister of Armenia, and Tian Erlong, the Ambassador of China to Armenia, attended the school's opening. The school building and supplies had a cost of over $12 million, and the funds to do so came from the Chinese government. It functions as a boarding school for students who are not from the Yerevan area.

Yerevan Champagne Wines Factory (Armenian: Երևանի Շամպայն Գինիների Գործարան (Yerevani Shampayn Ginineri Gortsaran)), shortly known as "Armchampagne", is the leading enterprise of Armenia for the production of champagne. The factory was opened in 1939 in Yerevan during the Soviet period. At the beginning, it was formed as a factory for sweet and dry wines. In 1954, the factory's production was extended to include sparkling wines. After the collapse of the Soviet rule, the factory of sparkling wines was privatized in 1995 to become an open joint-stock company.The factory is located on Tbilisi Highway 20, Kanaker-Zeytun District of Yerevan.

The Church of the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God of Kanaker (Armenian: Քանաքեռի Սուրբ Տիրամոր Ռուս Ուղղափառ Եկեղեցի (Kanakeri Surb Tiramor Rus Ughghap'ar Yekeghets'i), Russian: Храм Покрова Пресвятой Богородицы в Канакер), is an active Russian Orthodox church in the old area of Kanaker, Yerevan, Armenia.

Ayb School (Armenian: Այբ դպրոց), is a private educational complex in Yerevan, Armenia, opened in 2011 by the Ayb Educational Foundation. The school is named after the first letter of the Armenian alphabet Ayb (Armenian: Այբ). The school is a non-profit organization and functions as a foundation, legally registered as the Ayb Learning Hub Foundation. The motto of the school is "Know and Create" (Armenian: Իմա եւ արա). The school is directed by the board of trustees, headed by Ruben Arutynyan. The director of the school is David Sahakyan.

ErAZ or Yerevanskiy Avtomobilny Zavod (Armenian: ԵրԱԶ or Երևանի ավտոմոբիլային գործարան, Russian: ЕрАЗ or Ереванский Автомобильный Завод, lit. 'Yerevan Automobile Plant'), was an Armenian automobile manufacturer in Yerevan, Armenia, mostly known for producing the van RAF-977K (as ErAZ-762) from 1966 to 1996. Plans to establish the ErAZ factory came about on December 31, 1964, by the Council of Ministers of the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic. The original staff were trained at the Riga Autobus Factory in Latvia and UAZ in Russia. ErAZ was privatized in 1995, and declared bankruptcy in 2002.

Eurasia International University (EIU) (Armenian: Եվրասիա միջազգային համալսարան, romanized: Yevrasia mijazgayin hamalsaran) is a private and accredited institution of higher education, established in 1996 and headquartered in Yerevan.

Officially the Center for the Advancement of Natural Discoveries using Light Emission, more commonly CANDLE Synchrotron Research Institute, is a project and a research center-institute in Yerevan, Armenia. CANDLE is a project of 3 gigaelectronvolts energy, third generation synchrotron light source for fundamental, industrial and applied research in biology, physics, chemistry, medicine, material and environmental sciences. Overall the facility is expected to serve more than 40 research groups simultaneously supporting the spectroscopy, scattering, imaging and time resolved experiments. The project is claimed to be demanded by international scientific community and is expected to have a vast impact on development of science in Armenia.The government of Armenia allocated an area of 20 ha near the town of Abovyan for the upcoming projects of the center.

Izmirlian Medical Center (Armenian: Իզմիրլյան բժշկական կենտրոն), is a medical center and a research foundation located in the Armenian capital Yerevan. Opened in 1986, it is located in the Kanaker-Zeytun district and currently operates under the supervision of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. The Surb Nerses Mets Research and Education Center (Armenian: Սուրբ Ներսես Մեծ գիտաբժշկական կենտրոն), operates within the medical center.

The Yerevan Football Academy Stadium, officially the FFA Technical Center-Academy Stadium (Armenian: ՀՖՖ Տեխնիկական-կենտրոն ակադեմիայի մարզադաշտ), commonly known as the Yerevan Football Academy Stadium or the Avan Academy Stadium, is an all-seater football stadium in Yerevan, Armenia. It is located in the northern Avan District of the city, within the Technical Center-Academy complex of the Football Federation of Armenia. The stadium is sometimes known as the Avan Football Academy Stadium.

Nor Zeytun (Armenian: Նոր Զեյթուն, also Zeytun) is a neighbourhood in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. It is part of the Kanaker-Zeytun District of the city. To establish the Zeytun district in 1944, the Artsvabuyn Zeytun Reconstruction Committee was formed in Aleppo. After the repatriation of Armenians, in 1948, the members of the Committee received permission and established and constructed the new Zeytun district in Yerevan.
