Ramsgreave and Wilpshire railway station

Wilpshire is a village and civil parish in the county of Lancashire, England. It is 2.5 miles (4.0 km) north of Blackburn, and forms part of the town's urban area, although it is in the Ribble Valley local government district. In the 2001 United Kingdom census, the parish had a population of 2,569, increasing to 2,582 at the 2011 Census.The village is situated on the A666 Whalley Road, between the Brownhill area of Blackburn and the village of Langho. The local railway station is Ramsgreave and Wilpshire, on the Ribble Valley Line with train services to Blackburn, Manchester and Clitheroe. The only pub in the village is the Wilpshire Hotel, formerly known as The Red House. Wilpshire Golf Club is a private golf club in the village, was founded in 1890. Originally it was a nine-hole course but extended to an eighteen-hole course in 1907. James Braid was commissioned to redesign the course. Most of the reconstruction took place before 1924. In 1995 the course was altered by a new 17th hole.

Brownhill is a suburb of Blackburn, in the unitary borough of Blackburn with Darwen, in Lancashire, England. It is situated to the north-east of the town centre, in the Roe Lee ward which has an estimated population of 5,948. Other nearby places include Ramsgreave, Wilpshire and Sunnybower. Brownhill sports a number of local businesses including Brownhill Pharmacy, Brownhill Post Office, Brownhill Arms (situated approximately 0.3 mi (0.48 km) from Ramsgreave and Wilpshire railway station) and Videorama. In the centre of Brownhill is the junction of the A666 Whalley New Road and A6119 Blackburn Ring Road; when the ring road was built in the 1920s it was a roundabout with the Blackburn to Wilpshire tram route through the middle.Brownhill has three churches: Holy Souls (Roman Catholic), St Gabriel's (Church of England) and Trinity (Congregational). St Gabriel's is located on Brownhill Drive, and was built in 1933 to replace the original St Gabriel's Church, which was situated on Pearl Street. St Gabriel's is now somewhat of a famous Blackburnian landmark due to its 'light-up' red cross, which was installed in 1964, can be seen as far away as Clayton-le-Moors (approximately 8 mi (13 km)). The BP garage in Brownhill offers 24-hour fuel, off licence and grocery services.

St Gabriel's is an active English Anglican church in Blackburn, Lancashire. Designed by F. X. Velarde, St Gabriel's is regarded as a milestone in the development of Modern English ecclesiastical architecture. Constructed in the early 1930s, the building was the first Anglican place of worship designed by the architect.

Pleckgate High School is a mixed, Ofsted rated Outstanding secondary school located in Blackburn, Lancashire, England.Previously a community school and Mathematics and Computing College administered by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, in February 2016 Pleckgate High School converted to academy status. The school is now sponsored by The Education Partnership Trust, but continues to coordinate with Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council for admissions. The current Headteacher of the Academy is Aishling McGinty, who took up post in September 2022. Upon being inspected by Ofsted, in January 2019, the school received a judgement of 'Outstanding' in all categories.

Blackburn Cemetery, sometimes known as Blackburn Old Cemetery, is a public cemetery in the town of Blackburn, Lancashire which lies on Whalley New Road with views over the town. It opened on 1st July 1857.

Salesbury is a village and civil parish in Ribble Valley, located centrally in the county of Lancashire, England. The B6245 road runs straight through the village providing transport links to towns such as Blackburn, Preston and Burnley. Salesbury lies less than 5 miles north of Blackburn and approximately 2 miles south of the River Ribble. Copster Green is an area of houses a little north of Salesbury.

Bank Hey (also Sunnybower or Sunny Bower) is a suburb of Blackburn, Lancashire, England. It is located to the east of the town, north of Whitebirk and near the boundary with Hyndburn.

St Mary's College on Shear Brow (B6233), Blackburn, Lancashire, England was established by the Marist Fathers in 1925. It was a modern college for students aged between 16 and 18. Most students took what is known in the UK as Advanced-Levels (A-Levels) or, if in the first year; Advanced, Subsidiary Levels (AS-Levels). The college closed on 1 August 2022.

Clayton-le-Dale is a village and civil parish situated on the A59 road near Blackburn, in Lancashire, England. The population of the civil parish as of the 2011 census was 1,228. The village is in the Ribble Valley local government district. The parish is mainly agricultural. Since the foot-and-mouth crisis in 2001 local businesses have started to diversify; for example Dowsons started making ice cream on their dairy farm and supplying Asda and Booths supermarkets, as well as producing unusual flavours of ice cream including black pudding flavour.Other examples of diversification in Clayton-le-Dale include tourism, and the development of industrial units in the village with Fairfield Business Park giving home to companies such as Ski & Trek, Evabel Ltd, Paul Case Furniture, and Mellor Cars.

Ramsgreave is a civil parish in the Ribble Valley district of Lancashire, England. The parish is located on the northern edge of Blackburn although it is just outside the Blackburn with Darwen unitary district, and although the south and east of the parish is suburban, the parish also includes a rural area including Ribble Valley's only greenbelt land. The population of the civil parish taken at the 2011 census was 817. It is served by Ramsgreave and Wilpshire railway station. There are approximately 6 miles of footpaths and 2.5 miles of road within the parish. A former Roman road, between Manchester and Ribchester, passed through the parish, this is now almost entirely on private land.Ramsgreave has a sporting heritage. As a result of constant boundary changes in the twentieth century, Blackburn Rugby Club spans the border of the parish with pitches being located in both Ramsgreave and Blackburn separated by a small brook. This area has now become surrounded by new build housing up to the brook which is the border with Ramsgreave. The village was also briefly home Ramsgreave Rugby League Club. The team, which played on the Pleckgate municipal recreation grounds, existed between 1998 and 2004 and was largely the brain child of local students, disheartened by the lack of a local rugby league team. Ramsgreave RFC played in the North West Counties League until the league folded in August 2004. Notable alumni include Mark Abersock (Whynborough Reds) Greg Suligowski (North of England Colts) and Shilul Nituy (Shinti Warriors SA). The parish has no pubs, churches or public buildings within its boundary. It has several businesses including some farms producing poultry, lamb and beef and businesses housed on Ramsgreave Business Park off Pleckgate Road. Ramsgreave has an active Parish Council who meet every quarter at Wilpshire Methodist Church.

Whalley Range is an urban area in Blackburn, Lancashire. The area is a community with almost all residents being of Indian or Pakistani heritage. Houses in the area are predominantly terraced and go up on a hill in a typical Pennine mill town style.

Tauheedul Islam Girls' High School and Sixth Form College (TIGHS) is a secondary school for girls in Beardwood, Blackburn. It was founded by the charitable trust Tauheedul Islam Faith, Education and Community Trust (now known Star Academies). It serves as the flagship school of the trust.
