Pleckgate High School

St Mary's College on Shear Brow (B6233), Blackburn, Lancashire, England was established by the Marist Fathers in 1925. It was a modern college for students aged between 16 and 18. Most students took what is known in the UK as Advanced-Levels (A-Levels) or, if in the first year; Advanced, Subsidiary Levels (AS-Levels). The college closed on 1 August 2022.

St Gabriel's is an active English Anglican church in Blackburn, Lancashire. Designed by F. X. Velarde, St Gabriel's is regarded as a milestone in the development of Modern English ecclesiastical architecture. Constructed in the early 1930s, the building was the first Anglican place of worship designed by the architect.

Brownhill is a suburb of Blackburn, in the unitary borough of Blackburn with Darwen, in Lancashire, England. It is situated to the north-east of the town centre, in the Roe Lee ward which has an estimated population of 5,948. Other nearby places include Ramsgreave, Wilpshire and Sunnybower. Brownhill sports a number of local businesses including Brownhill Pharmacy, Brownhill Post Office, Brownhill Arms (situated approximately 0.3 mi (0.48 km) from Ramsgreave and Wilpshire railway station) and Videorama. In the centre of Brownhill is the junction of the A666 Whalley New Road and A6119 Blackburn Ring Road; when the ring road was built in the 1920s it was a roundabout with the Blackburn to Wilpshire tram route through the middle.Brownhill has three churches: Holy Souls (Roman Catholic), St Gabriel's (Church of England) and Trinity (Congregational). St Gabriel's is located on Brownhill Drive, and was built in 1933 to replace the original St Gabriel's Church, which was situated on Pearl Street. St Gabriel's is now somewhat of a famous Blackburnian landmark due to its 'light-up' red cross, which was installed in 1964, can be seen as far away as Clayton-le-Moors (approximately 8 mi (13 km)). The BP garage in Brownhill offers 24-hour fuel, off licence and grocery services.

Blackburn War Memorial is located in Corporation Park in Blackburn, Lancashire, England. It was originally designed as a memorial for people who lost their lives in the First World War but was later extended to also honour those who lost their lives in the Second World War.The main feature of this war memorial is Bertram Mackennal’s bronze sculpture known as Mother England or Sacrifice.Plans for the memorial and Garden of Remembrance were approved by the Blackburn War Memorial Committee in October 1922 and it was unveiled on 2 August 1924.

Corporation Park is a traditional Victorian park in Blackburn, Lancashire, England. It was landscaped by William Henderson and opened in 1857. Corporation Park is regarded as the main formal park in Blackburn and is used mainly by local people for general recreation, walking and dog walking, as well as for its tennis, bowling and football facilities.The park is registered by English Heritage as a Park and Garden of Special Historic Interest and is one of around 440 facilities of "exceptional historic interest" meriting a Grade II listing. The park has also been credited with the Civic Trust's prestigious Green Flag Award. Corporation Park also gives its name to a local government ward for Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council. The 18 hectare (44.5 acre) park occupies a relatively central location to the west of the main town centre precincts. The land is delineated to the north and south by two of Blackburn's main arterial roads. Revidge Road stretches for 490 metres (535 yards) along its northernmost edge; the grand southern entrance at Preston New Road (90 metres, 98 yards) arches away immediately along East and West Park Roads to reach its greatest width of 625 metres (685 yards) from Park Crescent to Brantfell Road. The grounds can be entered from the main southern entrance, two entrances aside the east and west porter's lodges or ten other gates on the perimeter of the park.

Wilpshire is a village and civil parish in the county of Lancashire, England. It is 2.5 miles (4.0 km) north of Blackburn, and forms part of the town's urban area, although it is in the Ribble Valley local government district. In the 2001 United Kingdom census, the parish had a population of 2,569, increasing to 2,582 at the 2011 Census.The village is situated on the A666 Whalley Road, between the Brownhill area of Blackburn and the village of Langho. The local railway station is Ramsgreave and Wilpshire, on the Ribble Valley Line with train services to Blackburn, Manchester and Clitheroe. The only pub in the village is the Wilpshire Hotel, formerly known as The Red House. Wilpshire Golf Club is a private golf club in the village, was founded in 1890. Originally it was a nine-hole course but extended to an eighteen-hole course in 1907. James Braid was commissioned to redesign the course. Most of the reconstruction took place before 1924. In 1995 the course was altered by a new 17th hole.

Tauheedul Islam Girls' High School and Sixth Form College (TIGHS) is a secondary school for girls in Beardwood, Blackburn. It was founded by the charitable trust Tauheedul Islam Faith, Education and Community Trust (now known Star Academies). It serves as the flagship school of the trust.

Ramsgreave and Wilpshire is a railway station on the Ribble Valley Line that serves the villages/suburbs of Ramsgreave and Wilpshire, just north of Blackburn in Lancashire, England. The station is 2+3⁄4 miles (4.4 km) north of Blackburn railway station. The present station was built 400 yards (370 m) south of the original Wilpshire station which served the Ribble Valley Line until its closure just before the Beeching Axe in 1962. When the line was re opened in 1994 a new site had to be found, due to the construction of houses which blocked access to the old station. The platforms which served as the old Wilpshire Station (also known as "Wilpshire for Ribchester") can still be seen.

Ramsgreave is a civil parish in the Ribble Valley district of Lancashire, England. The parish is located on the northern edge of Blackburn although it is just outside the Blackburn with Darwen unitary district, and although the south and east of the parish is suburban, the parish also includes a rural area including Ribble Valley's only greenbelt land. The population of the civil parish taken at the 2011 census was 817. It is served by Ramsgreave and Wilpshire railway station. There are approximately 6 miles of footpaths and 2.5 miles of road within the parish. A former Roman road, between Manchester and Ribchester, passed through the parish, this is now almost entirely on private land.Ramsgreave has a sporting heritage. As a result of constant boundary changes in the twentieth century, Blackburn Rugby Club spans the border of the parish with pitches being located in both Ramsgreave and Blackburn separated by a small brook. This area has now become surrounded by new build housing up to the brook which is the border with Ramsgreave. The village was also briefly home Ramsgreave Rugby League Club. The team, which played on the Pleckgate municipal recreation grounds, existed between 1998 and 2004 and was largely the brain child of local students, disheartened by the lack of a local rugby league team. Ramsgreave RFC played in the North West Counties League until the league folded in August 2004. Notable alumni include Mark Abersock (Whynborough Reds) Greg Suligowski (North of England Colts) and Shilul Nituy (Shinti Warriors SA). The parish has no pubs, churches or public buildings within its boundary. It has several businesses including some farms producing poultry, lamb and beef and businesses housed on Ramsgreave Business Park off Pleckgate Road. Ramsgreave has an active Parish Council who meet every quarter at Wilpshire Methodist Church.

Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School (QEGS) is a co-educational state-funded free school in Blackburn, Lancashire, England. Founded in 1509 as a boys' school, it is now a co-educational all-through free school with over 1200 students from ages 4 to 18. Pupils come from a very wide geographical area, from Bolton to the south and to Colne in the east. It consists of an Infant School (Reception to Year 2), Junior School (Years 3 to 6), Senior School (Years 7 to 11) and Sixth Form.

Whalley Range is an urban area in Blackburn, Lancashire. The area is a community with almost all residents being of Indian or Pakistani heritage. Houses in the area are predominantly terraced and go up on a hill in a typical Pennine mill town style.

Blackburn Cemetery, sometimes known as Blackburn Old Cemetery, is a public cemetery in the town of Blackburn, Lancashire which lies on Whalley New Road with views over the town. It opened on 1st July 1857.
