Shipley, Derbyshire

The American Adventure was a theme park in Derbyshire, England, quite close to both Nottingham and Derby on the edge of Ilkeston. The park for many years had a number of large white-knuckle attractions, but in 2005 was rethemed as a 'family' park aimed at the under-14 market. In January 2007, the owners announced that it would not reopen for the new season, and the rides would be sold off.

Marlpool railway station is a former railway station that served the village of Marlpool in Derbyshire, England. It was opened on a branch line from Ilkeston to Heanor on the Great Northern Railway (Great Britain) Derbyshire Extension line. Opened in 1891, passenger services finished in 1928. Today, the station building is a private residence.

Aldercar is a village in Derbyshire, England. It is located near Langley Mill, close to the county boundary with Nottinghamshire, and forms part of the civil parish of Aldercar and Langley Mill. The area is commonly known in Amber Valley thanks to Aldercar High School, the local secondary school. The area is also home to Aldercar Hall down Aldercar lane, one of the first houses in the area.

Langley Mill railway station was a railway station which served the village of Langley Mill in Derbyshire, England. It was opened in 1895 by the Midland Railway on its branch between Heanor Junction on the Erewash Valley Line and Ripley. There was already a station on the Erewash Line, known as Langley Mill and Eastwood, and a Great Northern station called Eastwood and Langley Mill, which opened in 1847 and 1876 respectively. Because this branch station had no passenger connection to the earlier one, it was regarded by the railway as a separate station and was even shown as such on Ordnance Survey maps even though the platforms were adjacent.

The station is 12 miles (19 km) north of Nottingham. The station lies between Nottingham and Sheffield and is managed by East Midlands Railway.

St Andrew's Church is the parish church of Langley Mill in Derbyshire, England. It was built in 1911 by J S Brocklesby and was dedicated to Saint Andrew in 1912 by the Bishop of Southwell. In 1926, the church became part of the Diocese of Derby. The church is an active place of worship and community hub. It was designated a Grade II listed building in 1988 by Historic England.

Using Raleigh as their brand name, it is one of the oldest bicycle companies in the world. After being acquired by Frank Bowden in December 1888, it became The Raleigh Cycle Company, which was registered as a limited liability company in January 1889. By 1913, it was the largest bicycle manufacturing company in the world. From 1921 to 1935, Raleigh also produced motorcycles and three-wheel cars, leading to the formation of Reliant Motors. Raleigh bicycle is now a division of the Dutch corporation Accell.In 2006, the Raleigh Chopper was named in the list of British design icons in the Great British Design Quest organised by the BBC and the Design Museum.
