The University of Medicine 1, Yangon (Burmese: ဆေးတက္ကသိုလ်(၁) ရန်ကုန် [sʰé tɛʔkəθò tɪʔ (jàɰ̃ɡòʊɰ̃)]; formerly the Institute of Medicine 1), located in Yangon, it is the oldest medical school in Myanmar. The university offers M.B., B.S. (equivalent of the M.D.) degrees and graduate (diploma, master's and doctoral) degrees in medical science. The university is perhaps the most selective university in the country, and admits approximately 400 students annually based on their University Entrance Examination scores. The University of Medicine 1 comprises three campuses: Lanmadaw campus (also known as St. John's), Pyay Road campus (also known as Leikkhon) and Thaton Road campus (former BOC College of Engineering and Mining). University of Medicine 1, Yangon is one of five schools in Myanmar recognized by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates.

Basic Education High School No. 2 Kamayut (Burmese: အခြေခံ ပညာ အထက်တန်း ကျောင်း အမှတ် (၂) ကမာရွတ်; abbreviated to အ.ထ.က. (၂) ကမာရွတ်; formerly, State High School Kamayut or St. Augustine's School; commonly known as Kamayut 2 High School) is one of the best known public high school located in Kamayut Township, Yangon, Myanmar (Burma). The school offers classes from kindergarten to 11th standard (Grade 1 to Grade 12).

Kamayut Township (Burmese: ကမာရွတ် မြို့နယ်, pronounced [kəmàjʊʔ mjo̰nɛ̀]; also spelt Kamaryut Township) is located in the north central part of Yangon. The township comprises ten wards, and shares borders with Hlaing township in the north, Hlaing township and Kyimyindaing township in the west, the Inya Lake, Bahan township and Mayangon township in the east, and Sanchaung township in the south. One of the most prosperous areas in Yangon (a prime upmarket area), Kamayut is also the "college town" of the Yangon. Pyay Road which cuts across the township is lined with many education and media related institutions such as Myanmar Radio and Television headquarters. Yangon University, the University of Medicine 1, Yangon, the Yangon Institute of Economics, the Yangon Institute of Education and affiliated TTC and University of Distance Education, Yangon are all located in the township. The township has twelve primary schools, two middle schools and five high schools.

The "Practising School, Yangon Institute of Education"(Burmese: ပညာရေးတက္ကသိုလ် လေ့ကျင့်ရေးကျောင်း), later, "Practising High School, Yangon University of Education"(Burmese: ရန်ကုန်ပညာရေးတက္ကသိုလ် လေ့ကျင့်ရေးအထက်တန်းကျောင်း) (abbreviated TTC Yangon) was the name of a high school in Yangon, Myanmar, which is currently called Basic Education Department Practising High School, Kamayut Township (Burmese: အခြေခံပညာဦးစီးဌာန လေ့ကျင့်ရေးအထက်တန်းကျောင်း၊ ကမာရွတ်မြို့နယ်). Although it is a high school in the technical sense, TTC's student body comprises students from Grade Kg to Grade Twelve or Matriculation, the highest standard in the Myanmar's new education system. The origin of the name of the school comes from the fact that TTC is part of the Institute of Education (former Teachers' Training College), whose trainee teachers are attached to the school as part of their course.

The Yangon University of Education (formerly the Yangon Institute of Education; Burmese: ရန်ကုန် ပညာရေး တက္ကသိုလ် [jàɰ̃ɡòʊɰ̃ pjɪ̀ɰ̃ɲàjé tɛʔkəθò]; abbreviated YUOE), located in Kamayut, Yangon, is the premier university of education in Myanmar. Primarily a teacher training college, the institute offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs in education to the country's prospective primary, secondary and tertiary school teachers. Its training high school known as TTC is considered one of the best high schools in the country.

West Yangon District is a district of the Yangon Region in Myanmar.

The Myanmar Academy of Arts and Science (Burmese: မြန်မာနိုင်ငံဝိဇ္ဇာနှင့် သိပ္ပံပညာရှင်အဖွဲ့, abbreviated MAAS) is Myanmar's national academy of sciences and humanities. The academy convenes an annual research conference. MAAS also publishes a research journal, the Journal of the Myanmar Academy of Arts and Science.

The Yangon University of Foreign Languages (also the University of Foreign Languages, Yangon) (Burmese: ရန်ကုန်နိုင်ငံခြားဘာသာတက္ကသိုလ် Burmese pronunciation: [nàɪɰ̃ŋàɰ̃dʑá bàðà tɛʔkəθò jàɰ̃ɡòʊɰ̃]), located in Yangon, is a university for the study of foreign languages in Myanmar. Yangon University of Foreign Languages is one of the two language universities in Myanmar alongside Mandalay University of Foreign Languages.

Info Myanmar University (Burmese: အင်ဖိုမြန်မာတက္ကသိုလ်; abbreviated IMU) is a private university in Yangon, Myanmar. Info Myanmar College (IMC), the computing arm of IMCS Co., Ltd. which achieved the success in the International ICT courses and vocational trainings since 2007, was established in 2014 with the strong commitment to firmly pillar the educational requirements of the age of knowledge-based society through transforming digital economy in Myanmar. IMC was promoted to Info Myanmar University (IMU) in 2019. IMU offers the Higher National Certificate In Computing, Higher National Diploma In Computing and B.Sc(Hons) in Computing programs in partnership with Edinburgh Napier University since 2017.

The Drug Elimination Museum (Burmese: မူးယစ်ဆေးဝါးပပျောက်ရေး အထိမ်းအမှတ်ပြတိုက်) is a museum in Yangon, Myanmar. It opened with ceremony on 26 June 2001. It is located at the corner of Kyandaw Road and Hanthawady Road in Kamayut Township, Yangon, Burma, on the former site of the city's largest cemetery, Kyandaw Cemetery. It is dedicated to the International Day Against Drug Abuse and illicit trafficking. The museum has three floors which contain exhibits on drug abuse and government efforts to contain the problem. The highlights of the museum include the eccentric dioramas, the random exhibits that demand interpretation, and the macabre displays depicting the detrimental repercussions of drug usage.

Kyandaw Cemetery (Burmese: ကြံတောသုသာန်), located in Kamayut Township, was Yangon's largest cemetery before it was demolished between 1996 and 1997 for redevelopment as the Yangon Drugs Elimination Museum. The relocation of graves was ordered by the Burmese government in December 1996. Descendants of the interred were given one month's notice to move the remains for reburial in Yangon's outskirts, at Yayway Cemetery and at Hteinbin Cemetery in Hlaingthaya Township. Kyandaw Cemetery occupied a 50 acres (20 ha) expanse of land about .5 miles (0.80 km) away from Yangon University. It was established during the colonial era. Kyandaw Cemetery was the city's common burial ground for Burmese Buddhists, but also included Christian, Chinese, Hindu and Islamic cemeteries. The Hindu section of the cemetery covered 1.6 hectares (4.0 acres).In 1991, the Yangon City Corporation (now the Yangon City Development Committee) ordered the relocation of graves at St. John's Cantonment Cemetery to Kyandaw. The graves included those of British soldiers. In 1994, the army moved the remains of the interred from Tamwe Cemetery to Kyandaw to build a supermarket.

Mandalay FM is a radio station that serves the Mandalay metropolitan area (90 miles around Mandalay), broadcasting on the FM band at a frequency of 87.9 MHz and on the Internet. Now the radio station is also serving 30 miles (48 km) around Taungoo and 60 miles (97 km) around Yangon. Mandalay FM radio will be able to tuned along the Yangon-Mandalay Highway in December. It is operated by the city government, MCDC. Mandalay FM is one of two radio stations available in Mandalay. Mandalay's sole FM station employs a pop culture-oriented format with a focus on Burmese and English pop music, entertainment programs, live celebrity interviews, etc., offering an alternative to the propaganda-laden programming of the state-run Myanmar Radio National Service. The station is a joint venture between MCDC and Forever Group, one of the country's few multimedia companies with close ties to the country's military government. Starting from 1 August 2024, Mandalay FM and Teen Radio Pyinsawadi merged, which resulted in Teen Radio Pyinsawadi's relay transmitters, which are located in the Ayeyarwady Region and the Rakhine State, starting to simulcast the same programs as Mandalay FM.
