Hairmyres

Gardenhall is an affluent area of the Scottish new town East Kilbride, in South Lanarkshire. Gardenhall is a residential district which lies on the town's south-western edge. It borders Mossneuk and Hairmyres to the East, and Newlandsmuir to the South. It is home to the terminus bus-stop of the First Bus Greater Glasgow 21 route. It also has the Gardenhall Inn within its boundaries. The East Kilbride local bus service, the First Bus M1 service, as well as the Mcgills services 395/396 and 399 also pass through the area.

Mossneuk is a predominantly residential area in the South-West of the Scottish new town East Kilbride, in South Lanarkshire. The area has very few facilities within it, as it is served by shops and conveniences by the nearby areas of Greenhills, Hairmyres and Gardenhall. The area, however, has a community hall, a church and a primary school, care home and a park. Mossneuk is the site of one of South Lanarkshire's 124 primary schools, the eponymous primary school - Mossneuk Primary School. As of 2011/2012, the school roll is approximately 450. The area also contains one of the town's nine Church of Scotland churches - Mossneuk Parish Church. The church is one of the few Eco-Congregations in South Lanarkshire and the minister, Rev. George Sneddon is also the Chaplain to Mossneuk Primary School. The church hosts the 7th East Kilbride Girls' Brigade and 11th East Kilbride Boys' Brigade. The area was also the site of the murder of local schoolboy, 16-year-old Jack Frew in May 2010

University Hospital Hairmyres is a district general hospital in the Hairmyres neighbourhood of East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The hospital serves one of the largest elderly populations in Scotland. It is managed by NHS Lanarkshire.

Hairmyres railway station is a railway station in the Hairmyres area of East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, Greater Glasgow, Scotland. The station is managed by ScotRail and is on the Glasgow South Western Line 10 miles (16 km) southeast of Glasgow Central towards East Kilbride. The line is single here with a passing loop approximately 398 metres (435 yd) east of Hairmyres Station, which extends for approximately 584 metres (639 yd) to Kirktonholme Road East Kilbride. It is crossed mid-loop by the A726 Queensway overbridge. Although the line was always single between Busby and East Kilbride, sidings existed to serve the former Radio Times factory in the College Milton Industrial Estate adjacent to the station. These were closed and lifted in the late 1960s. The Hairmyres Hospital and Department for International Development's office are located nearby. Up until the mid-1990s the area around the station was semi rural, but several new housing schemes have been built up in the area over the last decade or so giving far increased patronage to the station.

Peel Park is an area of East Kilbride in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is a business park, and home to the following companies:

Newlandsmuir is an area of the Scottish new town East Kilbride, in South Lanarkshire. It is a relatively modern residential development in the southern half of the town, separating Greenhills from Mossneuk. Its name comes from the former Newlandsmuir Farm, which was demolished during the summer of 2006 after permission was granted for a housing development. The stables and riding school operated at the farm have now moved to Sandford near Strathaven. The area is approximately half a kilometre in diameter, and sits near the town border to the south west.

Philipshill is an area of the Scottish new town East Kilbride, in South Lanarkshire. Its borders are unclear and the area it encompasses is also often considered to be part of Peel Park. The area features a garden centre, and Centre One - a Revenue and Customs call centre built as a replacement to the former building of the same name in East Kilbride's town centre.

Jackton is a small village lying just on the western periphery of East Kilbride in South Lanarkshire, on the B764 road (otherwise known as the 'Eaglesham Road') connecting it to the village of Eaglesham. It is also adjacent to Thorntonhall, and the two villages share a newsletter, the Peel News, derived from the name of the road connecting the two. The settlement, as well as an area of surrounding farmland going as far as Lindsayfield was designated as a Community Growth Area for East Kilbride in South Lanarkshire's Local Development Plan 2. The development of new build housing, additional retail locations, and a new primary school are planned and under construction as of March 2023. Jackton lies approximately 150 metres (490 ft) above sea level. It is also the site of one of the two Scottish Training Centres for Police Scotland. The area is served by Thorntonhall railway station, which is around 1+1⁄2 miles (2.4 km) away, and Hairmyres railway station, which is around 1.3 miles (2 km) away. The Gill Burn runs through the outskirts of the settlement. There is only one bus stop on each side of the road for the village. The only buses running through are the 395/396 run by Henderson Travel. The nearby fields to the immediate southeast of Jackton have received planning approval to be the site of a large Community Growth Area (housing estate) which will entirely engulf the small village. The development, creating a continuous built-up area over 1.5 square miles (3.9 km2) to connect with Lindsayfield, will include a primary school and a new link road. There will also be a large roundabout at the current hamlet. In 2019 it was approved to build a further 70 homes in the area, consisting of 4 and 5 bedroomed properties.In 2019, one of the streets in the area was the scene of gunfire, which caused a large police presence while it was investigated.The area is represented by the local Jackton and Thorntonhall Community Council. The community lies on the very western edges of the South Lanarkshire Council boundary, and also the UK Parliament constituency of East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow, as well as the Scottish Parliament Constituency of East Kilbride.

Westwood is an area of the Scottish new town East Kilbride. It was name-checked by one of its former inhabitants, Roddy Frame of Aztec Camera, in the song "Somewhere In My Heart". Part of the song's lyrics proclaim "From Westwood to Hollywood, The one thing that's understood, Is that you can't buy time, But you can sell your soul, And the closest thing to heaven is rock and roll".Westwood is home to one secondary School, which under South Lanarkshire Council's Schools modernisation programme, was the first of the new schools in the town to be built, near to the site of the original school building. It also boasts two primary schools, East Milton Primary School based in Vancouver Drive and Canberra Primary School which is located on Belmont Drive. Westwood like its other neighbourhoods has a parade of shops, being based in Westwood Square. Westwood is home to Westwood Amateur Football Club who play in the Strathclyde Saturday Morning Amateur Football League.

The National Museum of Rural Life, previously known as the Museum of Scottish Country Life, is based at Wester Kittochside farm, lying between East Kilbride in South Lanarkshire and Carmunnock in Glasgow. It is run by National Museums Scotland.

College Milton is an area of the Scottish new town East Kilbride, in South Lanarkshire. It lies on the western edge of the town, bordering West Mains, and consists of a large industrial estate, split into Northern and Southern halves by the A726 road.

Thorntonhall (Scots: Thorntounhauch, Scottish Gaelic: Dail Bhaile Dhealgaiche) is an affluent village in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, lying around 6 miles (10 km) to the south of Glasgow, and around 2+1⁄2 miles (4 km) west of East Kilbride. The village lies just east of the boundary of East Renfrewshire, close to Waterfoot and Jackton. In 2011, a street in Thorntonhall (Bowmore Crescent) was identified as having one of the most expensive average house prices within the Scottish property market, with an average house price of £908,000.
