Heidelberg is a suburb of the southern New Zealand city of Invercargill. It is located to the southeast of the city centre. The area was called Conyerstown by its first European owner, Thomas Agnew. He sold the land to settlers Joseph and Martin Metzger, who were both connected to Heidelberg in Germany.Notable features of the predominantly residential suburb include Elizabeth Park, a secondary school (Aurora College), and one of the city's main marae, Murihiku Marae. The suburb is roughly bounded by Regent Street in the east, Pomona Street in the west, and Centre Street and Tramway Road in the north and south, respectively. Murihiku Marae is located in Heidelberg. It is a marae (meeting ground) of the Waihōpai Rūnanga branch of Ngāi Tahu, and includes Te Rakitauneke wharenui (meeting house).

Newfield is a suburb in the New Zealand city of Invercargill. The sign at the Māori secondary school Te Wharekura O Arowhenua in Newfield was defaced with racist graffiti in December 2020. Police launched an investigation, and increased patrols in the Newfield area to reassure the community.

Te Wharekura o Arowhenua is a Māori high school (wharekura) located in Invercargill, New Zealand, teaching students from year 1–15 (aged around 5 to 18 years old). The school has 196 pupils, all of whom are Māori.

Verdon College is a co-educational Roman Catholic high school in Invercargill, New Zealand, teaching students from year 7 to 13 (ages 11–18). The College is named after Bishop Michael Verdon (1838–1918) who was the second Catholic Bishop of Dunedin (1896–1918). It has the highest rate of achievement in NCEA results for secondary schools in Invercargill city. In 2022, 91.9% of Year 11 students achieved NCEA Level 1, 82.9% of Year 12 students achieved NCEA Level 2, and 52.3% of Year 13 students achieved NCEA Level 3. In 2022, 19 students were given at least one Vocational Pathway Award.

Turnbull Thomson Park is a public park located in Invercargill, Southland, South Island, New Zealand. It is within the region of Southland Plains, covered with grass on low flatland with some trees around the large open space. The park is mainly used for sports and recreation purposes. As a natural reserve, it also has unique environmental and scenic value to the city.

The Bill Richardson Transport World and Classic Motorcycle Mecca sites both include a restaurant and café; The Grille Café is located at Bill Richardson Transport World, and the Meccaspresso Café at the Classic Motorcycle Mecca.

Southland Girls' High School is a state girls' Year 7–13 secondary school in Georgetown, Invercargill, New Zealand. The school was established in 1879. It is a single-sex state school for years 7 to 13 with a roll of 1047 students as of April 2023. From the 1880s to 1907 it shared a site with Southland Boys' High School and senior girls attended some classes at the boys' school. It moved to the current site in 1947.It consists of two main school blocks, one the former Tweedsmuir Junior High School. Students of all ages are mixed around the classrooms to involve all students thoroughly in school life, and one uniform is worn by all year levels. The students also wear red shoes with their uniforms. Two-yearly musical dramas are produced in conjunction with Southland Boys' High School. The 2005 NZQA report commended the school and staff for the very good practices and consistently high standards.A new school gymnasium was officially opened in 2007 by Sport and Recreation Minister Trevor Mallard.Enwood House is the Southland Girls' High School hostel for boarders between years 7 and 13. Enwood House provides 24 hour care for boarders with night staff on duty at all times. Girls can stay Monday to Friday or full-time, and short term stays are available.
