The SIT Zero Fees Velodrome, previously known as the ILT Velodrome and also known as the Invercargill Velodrome, is an indoor velodrome located in Surrey Park, Invercargill, Southland, New Zealand. It is next door to the ILT Stadium Southland and is part of the same complex. It is the main home venue of Cycling Southland and it serves as a training facility for three Invercargill sporting franchises – Southland Stags, Southland Sharks and Southern Steel. The velodrome was originally opened in 2006. The venue is owned by Southland Indoor Leisure Centre Charitable Trust. Invercargill Licensing Trust previously held the naming rights. Since 2013, they have been held by the Southern Institute of Technology.

ILT Stadium Southland is a multi-purpose venue located in Surrey Park, Invercargill, Southland, New Zealand. It was originally the home venue of the Southern Sting netball team. It currently serves as the main home venue of both the Southern Steel netball team and Southland Sharks of New Zealand's National Basketball League. It has also occasionally served a home venue for both the New Zealand national netball team and for New Zealand Breakers of Australia's National Basketball League. The venue is owned by Southland Indoor Leisure Centre Charitable Trust and the Invercargill Licensing Trust has the naming rights. Stadium Southland was originally opened in 2000. Following a roof collapse in 2010, it was redeveloped in 2014. The SIT Zero Fees Velodrome, which was opened in 2006, is adjacent to the main stadium complex. As well as hosting netball and basketball matches and tournaments, Stadium Southland has also hosted music concerts and tennis, badminton, boxing and wrestling events.

Surrey Park is a major sports venue, located in the Invercargill, New Zealand suburb of Glengarry, 2km to the east of the city centre. Surrey Park's facilities include three rugby grounds, three football grounds, four softball pitches, an athletics track, and the SIT Zero Fees Velodrome. ILT Stadium Southland, Invercargill's main indoor sports venue, is located at the southern end of the park, close to Tay Street, one of Invercargill's main arterial roads and part of SH 1. The park and stadium are the main venues for many Invercargill-based sports teams, among them the Southern Steel (netball), Queens Park AFC and Waihopai AFC (football), and the Southland Sharks (basketball).

Hawthorndale is a suburb of New Zealand's southernmost city, Invercargill. It contains the city's Eastern Cemetery, and also Bill Richardson Transport World, a truck and classic car museum.

Newfield is a suburb in the New Zealand city of Invercargill. The sign at the Māori secondary school Te Wharekura O Arowhenua in Newfield was defaced with racist graffiti in December 2020. Police launched an investigation, and increased patrols in the Newfield area to reassure the community.

Glengarry is a suburb in the New Zealand city of Invercargill. In a 2019 op-ed in the Southland Times, a woman who was brought up in Glengarry said the community "reflected the United Nations" with its diversity, and people were wrong to associate life in Glengarry with the impoverished lifestyles reflected in the film Once Were Warriors.It has hosted a range of events, including the Invercargill Fire and Light Show and Summer Sounds Concert.

Turnbull Thomson Park is a public park located in Invercargill, Southland, South Island, New Zealand. It is within the region of Southland Plains, covered with grass on low flatland with some trees around the large open space. The park is mainly used for sports and recreation purposes. As a natural reserve, it also has unique environmental and scenic value to the city.

Georgetown is a suburb of New Zealand's southernmost city, Invercargill.

Waverley Park is a sports ground in the suburb of Glengarry, in the northwest of the city of Invercargill, New Zealand. It covers 6.30 hectares (15.6 acres). The park's facilities are shared by four local sports, and it is the home ground for Old Boys' AFC and Star RFC. The Waverley Bowling Club is located in the park's northwestern corner, and the park is also used for matches in the Invercargill Cricket League. Facilities at the park include two football fields, two rugby fields, and two bowling greens. The part is popular with joggers, and has several trails especially for walkers, joggers, and hikers. Maintenance of the ground is overseen by Invercargill City Council. The park shares its name with the nearby Waverley Park School, a primary school located 250 metres to the northeast of the park.

Te Wharekura o Arowhenua is a Māori high school (wharekura) located in Invercargill, New Zealand, teaching students from year 1–15 (aged around 5 to 18 years old). The school has 196 pupils, all of whom are Māori.

Verdon College is a co-educational Roman Catholic high school in Invercargill, New Zealand, teaching students from year 7 to 13 (ages 11–18). The College is named after Bishop Michael Verdon (1838–1918) who was the second Catholic Bishop of Dunedin (1896–1918). It has the highest rate of achievement in NCEA results for secondary schools in Invercargill city. In 2022, 91.9% of Year 11 students achieved NCEA Level 1, 82.9% of Year 12 students achieved NCEA Level 2, and 52.3% of Year 13 students achieved NCEA Level 3. In 2022, 19 students were given at least one Vocational Pathway Award.
