83rd Street station is an electrified commuter rail station along the South Chicago Branch of the Metra Electric Line on the South Side of the city of Chicago. The station is located on 83rd Street at Commercial Avenue near Russell Square Park, and is 11.97 miles (19.26 km) away from the northern terminus, Millennium Station. In Metra's zone-based fare system, 83rd Street is in zone B. As of 2018, 83rd Street is the 200th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 74 weekday boardings.West of this station is another Metra Electric station along 83rd Street known as 83rd Street (Avalon Park) along the Main Branch. Station-side and on-street parking are available next to the 83rd Street railroad crossing. South of the station, the line curves southeast onto another abandoned railroad right-of-way as it heads towards 93rd Street Station.

St. Michael (Polish: Kościół Świętego Michała) is a church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago. The current church is located at E. 83rd Street and S. South Shore Drive in South Chicago, a neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. It is a prime example of the so-called "Polish Cathedral style" of churches in both its opulence and grand scale. Along with Immaculate Conception, it is one of the two monumental Polish churches dominating over the South Chicago neighborhood.

The Sawyer Water Purification Plant, formerly the South Water Purification Plant, is the first water filtration plant built in the City of Chicago. When completed in 1947, it was the largest such plant in the world.

Windsor Park station is a station on the South Chicago Branch of the Metra Electric District Line. It is located at 75th Street in the median of Exchange Avenue and is 10.88 miles (17.51 km) away from the northern terminus at Randolph Street Station. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Windsor Park Station is in Zone B. As of 2018, Windsor Park is the 202nd busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 68 weekday boardings.Part of 75th Street-Windsor Park station's name is also shared with another 75th Street Metra Electric station at Grand Crossing on the main branch. Parking is available along northbound Exchange Avenue between 75th Place and 75th Street and along both sides of Saginaw Avenue, south of southbound Exchange Avenue. The station was recently renovated in 2008.

The Lake-Side Terrace Apartments is a historic apartment building at 7425-7427 South Shore Drive in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Built in 1922–23, the building is an example of a courtyard apartment, a popular apartment style in early 20th century Chicago. As the building adjoins Lake Michigan, its courtyard opens toward the lake; the courtyard is also elevated to enhance its lake view. Chicago architect Eric Edwin Hall designed the Tudor Revival building. The four-story brick building features limestone entrance and window surrounds, Tudor arched entrances to the courtyard, and a battlement along the roof.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 13, 1984.

Las Casas Occupational High School was an alternative high school located at 8401 South Saginaw Avenue in the South Chicago area of Chicago, Illinois, United States. The school, a part of Chicago Public Schools (CPS), intended to educate autistic, cognitively delayed, and behavior disordered students so they could take jobs.By February 2009, CPS announced that the school would close because of building deficiencies and layout problems. The school was given a reprieve, and was eventually closed at the end of the 2010-11 school year.

South Chicago, formerly known as Ainsworth, is one of the 77 community areas of Chicago, Illinois. This chevron-shaped community is one of Chicago's 16 lakefront neighborhoods near the southern rim of Lake Michigan 10 miles south of downtown. A working-class neighborhood, it is bordered by East 79th Street on the north, South Chicago Avenue (the Chicago Skyway) on the southwest, a small stretch of East 95th Street on the south. With the Calumet River on the community's southeast side, South Chicago can be considered the gateway to the Calumet Region and the one of the four Chicago neighborhoods (East Side, Hegewisch and South Deering) that are considered by the locals as part of Chicago's Southeast Side. The Southeast Side is a description that the city itself continues to resist, including this neighborhood with all of Chicago's South Side communities.

The Windsor Beach Apartments, historically known as the South Shore Beach Apartments, is a historic apartment building in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The building was constructed in 1927–28, shortly before the Great Depression ended the initial wave of apartment construction in Chicago. Its lakefront location and the relative seclusion of its apartments, with no more than eight per floor, catered to well-off residents. Architect Robert S. De Goyler designed the building; his design blends Moorish elements with the newly popular Art Deco and Moderne styles. The thirteen-story building features patterned brickwork, an arched entrance path, and projecting window bays on its front.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 9, 1978.

87th Street station is a station on the South Chicago Branch of the Metra Electric Line on the southeast side of Chicago, United States. The station is located at 87th Street, two block East of Commercial Avenue, and is 12.51 miles (20.13 km) away from the northern terminus, Millennium Station. In Metra's zone-based fare system, 87th Street is in zone B. As of 2018, 87th Street is the 186th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 106 weekday boardings.Though Metra gives the address for the station as being at 87th Street east of Commercial Avenue, it is actually closer to South Baltimore Avenue. The tracks run along the east side of a one-lane alley behind South Baltimore Avenue, which spans only from 86th Street to 87th Street. West of this station is another Metra Electric station along 87th Street known as 87th Street (Woodruff) along the main line. Parking is available at this station, but only street-side along 87th Street, on the south side between Houston and Burley Avenues, and on the north side between the tracks and Baltimore Avenue.

The South Shore Bungalow Historic District is a residential historic district in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The district contains 229 Chicago bungalows and twenty other residential buildings built between 1911 and 1930. As homes became more accessible to families in early 20th century Chicago, thousands of bungalows were built to meet the housing demand. While bungalows were affordable mainly due to their uniform designs, their builders changed details such as color and entrance position to keep each home unique. The South Shore bungalows were among the first built in the city, as South Shore was already a popular neighborhood when the bungalow boom began, and the district contains many 1910s stucco bungalows; however, every bungalow built after 1917 is brick.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 10, 2008.

Baker College Preparatory High School (also known as Baker College Prep) is a public four-year charter high school located in the South Chicago neighborhood on the far south side of Chicago, Illinois. It shares its campus with Bowen High School. Baker is operated by the Noble Network of Charter Schools and is named for civil and human rights activist Ella Baker. It opened in fall 2013. Twice a year, students propose solutions to community problems that they have studied in groups that semester and that they hope to participate in solving.
