Spath is on the River Tean and is divided from Uttoxeter by the A50 road. In UK railway history, Spath is notable as the site of the first automatic (i.e. train-operated) level crossing in the United Kingdom (AHBC: automatic half barrier crossing), which came into operation on 5 February 1961.The railway closed four years later, and has now been dismantled, the road which crossed it via the automatic crossing is now gated and only leads to a farm and there is no remaining visible sign of the crossing. Spath was the original home of Stevensons of Uttoxeter, a bus company that celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2007.

Stramshall is a village within the civil parish of Uttoxeter Rural in the county of Staffordshire, England. The village is 2.1 miles north of the town of Uttoxeter, 16.3 miles north east of Stafford and 143 miles north west of London. The village lies 0.8 miles north of the A50 that links Warrington to Leicester. The nearest railway station is at Uttoxeter for the Crewe to Derby line. The nearest airport is East Midlands Airport.

Denstone is a village and civil parish situated between the towns of Uttoxeter in East Staffordshire and Ashbourne in Derbyshire. It is located next to the River Churnet. The All Saints village church, vicarage and school were built by Sir Thomas Percival Heywood, 2nd Baronet in the mid 19th century. Denstone College is situated to the west of the village. In the late 19th century and early 20th century, Denstone had a railway station of its own which closed to passengers in 1965. Part of this railway line is now preserved as the Churnet Valley Railway. It is hoped that one day the line would extend back beyond the village station site via Oakamoor, but this is unlikely due to the large number of buildings near the railway. The present Lord of the Manor of Denstone is Daniel J. Barton, stepson of the late Clifford Bailey.

Rocester Abbey was a medieval monastic house at Rocester, Staffordshire, England of which there is now no trace above ground level. The Augustinian abbey of St. Mary, Rocester was founded in Dovedale between 1141 and 1146 by Richard Bacon, a half brother-in-law of Ranulph, 6th Earl of Chester and a son-in-law of Hugh de Kevelioc, the previous earl. The Earls of Chester were the early patrons of the abbey until the death of the 7th Earl in 1237, after which the earldom was annexed to the Crown, who thereby took over the patronage. Nevertheless, the abbey, a relatively small one, was also commensurately poor. Improved funding in the 13th century and the granting to them of the right to hold a weekly market and an annual fair at Rocester improved their situation. In 1538, the abbey was finally dissolved as part of the Dissolution of the Monasteries. At the time the abbey was dissolved there were only 9 monks there, including the abbot. Most of the building was dismantled for its reusable materials and the land sold to Richard Trentham, the MP for Shropshire. He relocated his family there, where a manor house was built, and the property subsequently passed down in the Trentham family. The site today is known as Abbey Fields and is an open space with traces of an earlier Roman Fort.
