It belongs to the Queyras Regional Park. It is located in the valley of the Guil and is appreciated for its position along long and medium distance footpaths in a rural and preserved environment. It also hosts a small ski resort.

The Observatory of Saint-Veran (French: Observatoire de Saint-Véran) is a French astronomical observatory located on the Pic de Château Renard in the municipality of Saint-Véran in the department of Hautes-Alpes in the French Alpes. At 2,930 meter altitude, it is one of the highest observatories in Europe next to the Sphinx Observatory. The Facility is managed by the French amateur astronomy association "AstroQueyras". The observatory was built in 1974 as a branch of the Paris Observatory. In 1990 amateur astronomers were granted use of its 62 cm Cassegrain telescope. The main-belt asteroid 48159 Saint-Véran was discovered at and named for the observatory and its hosting village. Presumably, it was the first discovery made at the observatory on 16 April 2001, synchronous with 264476 Aepic.

The Queyras (French pronunciation: [kɛʁa]; Occitan: Cairàs) is a valley located in the French Hautes-Alpes, of which the geographical extent is the basin of the river Guil, a tributary of the Durance. The Queyras is one of the oldest mountain ranges of the Alps, and it was one of the last ones to be opened to public tourism towards the end of the 20th century, thus being relatively untouched by environmental destruction. The Queyras is also one of the 58 Regional nature parks of France. The GR58, also known as the Tour du Queyras ("The tour of Queyras" in French), is a long-distance walking route that forms a 108-km hiking loop in the Queyras. Lac de Souliers is a lake in Hautes-Alpes, France. It is located in the commune of Château-Ville-Vieille, under the Col d'Izoard.

Lac des Cordes is a lake in Hautes-Alpes, France. At an elevation of 2,446 metres (8,025 ft), its surface area is 0.02 square kilometres (0.0077 sq mi). It is located close to the northern wall of the Pic de Rochebrune. The lake can be accessed by hiking, starting either from the hamlet of Bourgea (1,950 metres (6,400 ft)) or from the refuge of Fonts de Cervières (2,040 metres (6,690 ft).
