Lake View High School (Chicago)

Mishkan Chicago is a Progressive Jewish congregation, located in Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. The congregation was founded in 2011 by Rabbi Lizzi Heydemann and was loosely modeled after IKAR in Los Angeles, where Heydemann served as a rabbinic intern. The congregation is a member of the Jewish Emergent Network.

The East Ravenswood Historic District is a primarily residential historic district in the Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Constructed between 1880 and 1940, the buildings in the district include the first parts of Ravenswood to be developed. Ravenswood was one of Chicago's first suburban neighborhoods, and the area's many trees and proximity to the Chicago River appealed to residents looking for less urbanized surroundings. Transit connections, including the new Ravenswood branch of the Chicago 'L', and the growth of Chicago as a whole brought new residents and greater density to the neighborhood over the ensuing decades. The district is mainly composed of houses and small apartment buildings, the designs of which reflect the transition from the Queen Anne and Victorian designs of the late nineteenth century to the Prairie School and revival styles of the twentieth. It is also noted for its many churches, which represent the variety of religious denominations in the neighborhood and showcase religious architecture of the period.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 3, 1991.

The Curt Teich and Company Building is a historic building at 1733-55 W. Irving Park Road in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The building was the headquarters and printing press of Curt Teich and Company, one of the first postcard companies and a major influence on the form's development. While the original building's construction date is unclear, the company moved to the building in 1910; a large addition was placed on the building in 1922. Teich traveled throughout the country, and eventually to other countries in North America, to take photographs for his postcards; his travels made postcards available from any sizable town, rather than just major tourist destinations, and produced a historical record of American towns in the process. The company was also responsible for several innovations in the printing and coloring process.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 7, 1990.

J.C. Deagan, Inc. is a former musical instrument manufacturing company that developed and produced instruments from the late 19th- to mid-20th century. The company was founded in 1880 by John Calhoun Deagan and initially manufactured glockenspiels. It was noted for its development of the xylophone, vibraharp, organ chimes, aluminum chimes, aluminum harp, Swiss handbells, the marimba, orchestra bells, and marimbaphone. Church bells were revolutionized by Deagan through his design of tubular bells, and the NBC chimes were his creation.Its former headquarters, the tower of which still bears the company name, is a landmark in the Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois.Since 1984, Deagan is a brand owned by Yamaha, which distributes and sells products with the Deagan name.

The Chicago Mosaic School is a non-profit school that teaches mosaic art and design. It is located in Edgewater, Chicago, on Chicago's North Side.

Graceland Cemetery is a large historic garden cemetery located in the north side community area of Uptown, in the city of Chicago, Illinois, USA. Established in 1860, its main entrance is at the intersection of Clark Street and Irving Park Road. Among the cemetery's 121 acres are the burial sites of several well-known Chicagoans.Graceland includes a naturalistic reflecting lake, surrounded by winding pathways, and its pastoral plantings have led it to become a certified arboretum of more than 2,000 trees. The cemetery's wide variety of burial monuments include a number designed by famous architects, several of whom are also buried in the cemetery.

Irving Park is an 'L' station on the CTA's Brown Line. It is an elevated station with two side platforms, located in Chicago's North Center neighborhood. The stations adjacent to Irving Park are Montrose, one half mile (0.8 km) to the north, and Addison, one half mile (0.8 km) to the south.

The Music Box Theatre is a historic movie theater located in Chicago, Illinois. Built in 1929, it has been operating continuously as an art-house and repertory cinema since the early 1980s.

Daiyuzenji is a Rinzai Zen Buddhist temple located on the north side of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. Daiyuzenji began in 1982 as the Illinois betsuin (branch temple) of Daihonzan Chozen-ji, a Rinzai headquarters temple founded in 1979 in Honolulu, Hawaii by Omori Sogen Roshi (1904-1994), a successor in the Tenryu-ji line of Rinzai Zen. Fumio Toyoda, a lay Zen master and martial art teacher who had emigrated to Chicago from Japan in 1974, was the driving force behind the founding and administration of the betsuin. Tenshin Tanouye Roshi and Dogen Hosokawa Roshi, two of Omori Roshi's successors who taught at Chozen-ji, traveled to Chicago beginning in the early 1980s to lead sesshin there. Eventually the Chicago betsuin developed a cadre of senior students, including several ordained priests. In 2005 it was designated a fully independent temple by Hosokawa Roshi, named Sokeizan Daiyuzenji (曹渓山大雄禅寺). So'zan Miller Roshi, one of Hosokawa Roshi's dharma heirs, was appointed the first Daiyuzenji shike (abbot). Daiyuzenji teachers are also involved with the establishment of Korinji, a new Rinzai Zen Buddhist sodo (monastery) in the Madison, Wisconsin area. Groundbreaking for this occurred in June, 2009. Daiyuzenji and Korinji together anchor a network of associated Zen practice groups called the Rinzai Zen Community (RZC).

Lillstreet Art Center is an arts center in Chicago, Illinois, United States. It is one of the oldest and most successful co-ops in Chicago and its facilities include classrooms for arts education, a gallery, an artist residency program, studio spaces, and a community outreach program.

Chicago Books to Women in Prison (CBWP) is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that provides free books to incarcerated women in state and federal prisons across the United States. On average, around 3,000 packages are sent per year, pulled from a collection that averages around 10,000 donated books.

Wunder's Cemetery (sometimes Wunder Cemetery; also known as German Lutheran Cemetery) is a 14.5-acre German Protestant cemetery in Chicago, in the U.S. state of Illinois. It was established in 1859. It is adjacent to Graceland Cemetery in Lakeview.
