Canton of Digne-les-Bains-Est

The canton of Digne-les-Bains-Ouest is a former administrative division in southeastern France. It was disbanded following the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. It had 12,820 inhabitants (2012). The canton comprised the following communes:

The Jardin botanique des Cordeliers is a botanical garden located at the Place des Cordeliers, Digne-les-Bains, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France. It is open weekdays in the warmer months; admission is free. The garden was created in 1986 within the cour d'honneur of Collège Maria Borelly, and named after its former 13th century convent site. It began as small conservatory of regional plants but in 1996 was extended to contain more than 350 plant species arranged in geometric groupings that include a collection of wild herbs, aromatic plants of the region and abroad, vegetables, and a sensory garden (created in 2005). The garden also contains a small labyrinth, sculpture, fruit trees and ornamental bushes, and flowers including dahlias and roses.

Digne-les-Bains (French pronunciation: [diɲ le bɛ̃] ; Occitan: Dinha dei Banhs), or simply and historically Digne (Dinha in the classical norm or Digno in the Mistralian norm), is the prefecture of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of Southeastern France. As of 2018, the commune had a population of 16,333. Its inhabitants are called Dignois (masculine) and Dignoises (feminine).

Digne Cathedral (French: Cathédrale Saint-Jérome de Digne) is a Roman Catholic church located in the town of Digne-les-Bains, France. The cathedral has been a monument historique since 1906. It is the seat of the Bishops of Digne, Riez and Sisteron, formerly Bishops of Digne. Construction began in 1490 by the order of the then bishop Antoine de Guiramand to cater for the movement of the town's population to a higher, more secure and defensible location round the local castle. The cathedral was renovated and expanded in the 1860s under the direction of architect Antoine-Nicolas Bailly. The previous cathedral in the old town, Notre-Dame-du-Bourg (Cathédrale Notre-Dame-du-Bourg de Digne), a late Romanesque building of the 13th century, still stands as a museum.

The Diocese of Digne (Latin: Dioecesis Diniensis; French: Diocèse de Digne) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Catholic Church in France. Erected in the 4th century as the Diocese of Digne, the diocese has been known as the Diocese of Digne–Riez–Sisteron since 1922. The diocese comprises the entire department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, in the Region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. The diocese was a suffragan diocese of the Archdiocese of Aix-en-Provence and Arles until 2002 and is now a suffragan diocese in the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Marseille. The Bishop of Digne's cathedra is found in Digne Cathedral at the episcopal see of Digne-les-Bains.
