Metaxourgeio

Kerameikou 28, also known as Communitism building, was a social art center in Athens, Greece. It was housed in a neoclassical structure located at the heart of the Greek capital in the Metaxourgeio district on Kerameikou 28 Street. Functioning as a self-managed social center, it drew together a community of national and international artists who relocated to Athens during Documenta 14 in the Metaxourgeio district. The transformation of the building into an artists hub elevated its status in the Athenian subculture art scene. It provided a venue for both emerging and established artists to exhibit their work and engage in creative pursuits outsied traditional galleries and museums. The building came to symbolize the vibrant artistic community of the city, hosting a variety of exhibitions, performances, and initiative projects. In May of 2023, Kerameikou 28 came to an end after disputes with the property owners surfaced as a result of the gentrification of the surrounding area . Consequently, the building was evacuated with the intent of listing it on the real estate market. Presently, Kerameikou 28 stands as a symbol of the contemporary art scene in Athens, encapsulating its radical spirit through the myriad exhibitions, performances, and projects that have unfolded within its historic confines.

Metaxourghio metro station is on Athens Metro Line 2. It is located west of Omonoia Square.

Avdi Square (Greek: Πλατεία Λέοντος Αυδή) is a public gathering place located in the Metaxourgeio neighbourhood of Athens, Greece, bounded by Leonidou, Kerameikou, Giatrakou and Germanikou streets. On the edges of the square stand the Municipal Gallery of Athens, several cafes, theatres, businesses and residential buildings. The City of Athens renovated the square in 2008, increasing the amount and quality of greenery, improving lighting and renewing tile surfaces. Since then, the square has also begun to bear signs of the neighbourhood’s steady revitalization by its residents through anonymous artwork, guerrilla gardening, festivals, and performances of dance, music and other artistic expression. The square’s 2008 overhaul was part of the city’s “We're Taking Note and Taking Action" program, which aimed to solve everyday problems in Athens' neighbourhoods. In Avdi Square, the city added 39 trees, 112 bushes, 500 flowers, 1,000 square metres of grass, and 271 square metres of new tile surface. On 21 July 2008, following the completion of the renovation, Mayor Nikitas Kaklamanis held a public ceremony to hand over the square to the area's citizens for caretaking and use as a recreational oasis. "This square will become the heart of culture and recreation in your neighbourhood,” he said during the launch of the revamped space.The square is named for Leon Avdis (1937–2000), a Greek lawyer and public servant who enjoyed wide respect across the political spectrum. In 1994 he was elected Municipal Councillor of Athens as head of the "Fighting Cooperation for Athens" coalition. Avdis was elected to Parliament in 1996 on the Greek Communist Party (KKE) ticket, then resigned in 1997 to run for mayor of Athens. His platform including improving living conditions in run-down areas and creating bicycle lanes in the capital.

Keramikou 28 is a neoclassical building in Athens, Greece, in the Metaxourgeio district on Keramikou 28 Street. The building has undergone various names, including ReMap, Kunsthalle Athena, and Communitism. It was used as a social art center between 2007 and 2023 by three different initiatives, each occupying it during separate periods, closely resembling the Kunsthaus Tacheles in Berlin. In 2017, it received significant attention among artists, serving as an artist hub for a community of national and international artists who had relocated to Athens during Documenta 14. The building was transformed into an arts center and used for exhibitions, performances, and initiative projects. It served as a venue to the Athenian subculture art scene, both for emerging and established artists to exhibit their work and engage in creative pursuits outside traditional galleries and museums.

The Municipal Gallery of Athens is a museum in Athens, Greece. It houses a rich collection of nearly 3,000 works from leading 19th- and 20th-century Greek artists. Formerly located on Peiraios Street on Eleftherias (Koumoundourou) Square, in October 2010 the gallery moved three blocks northwest to the corner of Myllerou and Leonidou streets on Avdi Square in Metaxourgeio. The move added another dimension to the gallery's draw, as its current building was designed in the early 19th century by prominent architect Christian Hansen. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 21:00 (10:00 am–2:00 pm and 5:00-9:00 pm). Open Sundays from 10:00 to 14:00 (10:00 am–2:00 pm). Closed Mondays. The Peloponnese Railway Station (Greek: Σταθμός Πελοποννήσου, romanized: Stathmos Peloponnisou) was a station on the Piraeus, Athens and Peloponnese Railways (SPAP) metre gauge line in Athens. Originally opened on 30 June 1884 it was the first railway terminal in the Greek capital. In 1904, a very short distance from the Peloponnese Station, the "Larissa Station" was inaugurated, the original owner of which was the Hellenic State Railways (SEK), which served trains to and from northern Greece. The station closed in 2005.

Vathi (Greek: Βάθη) is a neighborhood of Athens. It is located north of Athens' downtown and is part of the 1st suburb of the city. The center of the neighborhood is Vathis Square (Plateía Váthis).

Athens railway station (Greek: Σιδηροδρομικός Σταθμός Αθηνών, romanized: Sidirodromikos Stathmos Athinon) is the main railway station of Athens, and the second largest station in Greece. Located in the central quarter of Kolonos, the railway station resulted from the merger of two separate railway terminals in 2005—Larissa station (Σταθμός Λαρίσης, Stathmos Larisis) of the Piraeus–Platy railway towards central and northern Greece, and the Peloponnese station (Σταθμός Πελοποννήσου, Stathmos Peloponnisou) of the Piraeus–Patras railway that formerly linked Athens with the Peloponnese. The station is still colloquially known as Larissa Station, and is also the name of the adjacent Athens Metro station.

Athens "Liosion" Bus Station also known as KTEL Liosion Bus Station is the second busiest bus station in Athens. It is located in Patisia in Athens Municipality. There are routes to Central Greece, Thessaly, Pieria. There are a lot of passengers that use the Bus Station and it is the second largest bus station in Athens after Athens Kifissos Bus Station. 5 million passengers travel to Central Greece and Thessaly via this bus station. The busiest route is to Chalkida. There are routes per 30 minutes. There are new plans to build a bus station in Elaionas, Athens that will serve all routes of the entire nation. The new Bus Station will open in 2025.

Omonoia Square (Greek: Πλατεία Ομονοίας, Plateía Omonoías, pronounced [plaˈtia omoˈnias], "Concord Square", often simply referred to as Omónia [oˈmonia]) is a central square in Athens. Forming the centre of Omonoia. It marks the northern corner of the downtown area defined by the city plans of the 19th century, and is one of the city's principal traffic hubs. It is served by Omonoia metro station. Omonoia Square is one of the oldest squares in the city of Athens and an important shopping centre. It is located at the center of the city at the intersection of six main streets: Panepistimiou, Stadiou, Athinas, Peiraios, Agiou Konstantinou Street and 3rd Septemvriou Street.

The St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral (Greek: Καθεδρικός Ναός του Αγίου Γρηγορίου του Φωτιστού) also called Armenian Church of St. Gregory the Illuminator is an Armenian Catholic cathedral located at 2 Rene Pio, Neos Kosmos in Athens, Greece. It functions as the seat of the Armenian Catholic Ordinariate of Greece a jurisdiction created for Catholics of the Armenian rite that was established in 1925 by Pope Pius XI and directly under the administration of the Holy See. Currently the ordinariate is vacant so it does not have a bishop responsible. Father Hovsep Bezazian is the apostolic administrator.
