River Lyde

Bledlow-cum-Saunderton is a civil parish in the Wycombe district of Buckinghamshire, England. It contains the villages of Bledlow, Bledlow Ridge and Saunderton and the hamlets of Crownfield, Forty Green, Holly Green, Pitch Green, Rout's Green, Saunderton Lee and Skittle Green. It had a population of 2,469 according to the 2011 census.

Bledlow is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Bledlow-cum-Saunderton, in Buckinghamshire, England. It is about 1+1⁄2 miles (2.4 km) WSW of Princes Risborough, and is on the county boundary with Oxfordshire. In 1931 the parish had a population of 925. On 1 April 1934 the parish was abolished to form "Bledlow cum Saunderton".The toponym "Bledlow" is derived from Old English and means "Bledda's burial mound". A 10th century document records it as Bleddanhloew; the Domesday Book of 1086 records it as Bledelai. A more common derivation is from "Bled-Hlaw" meaning Bloody Hill which commemorates an undated battle between Saxons and Danes.

Bledlow Bridge Halt railway station was a halt on the Watlington and Princes Risborough Railway which the Great Western Railway opened in 1906 to serve the Buckinghamshire village of Bledlow. The opening of the halt was part of a GWR attempt to encourage more passengers on the line at a time when competition from bus services was drawing away patronage.

Skittle Green is a hamlet in the civil parish of Bledlow-cum-Saunderton in the county of Buckinghamshire, England. Skittle Green is northwest of the village of Bledlow, very near to the Oxfordshire boundary.

Bledlow railway station was an intermediate station on the Wycombe Railway which served the Buckinghamshire village of Bledlow from 1862 to 1963. It was one of two stations to serve the village, the other being Bledlow Bridge Halt on the Watlington and Princes Risborough Railway, which was 0.75 miles (1.21 km) to the south and closer to the village. The possibility of reopening the line through Bledlow, which is now part of a long-distance footpath, has been explored by Chiltern Railways, the franchise holder for the Chiltern Main Line which runs through Princes Risborough.

Chinnor Hill is a 26.8-hectare (66-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Chinnor in Oxfordshire. It is managed by the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust.This hill has species-rich calcareous grassland, juniper scrub, which is an uncommon habitat, mixed scrub and woodland. More than 300 species of vascular plant have been recorded and 65 of birds. Many passerines breed in the scrub, and thrushes such as redwings and fieldfares feed on berries in the winter.

Horsenden is a hamlet and former civil parish, now in the parish of Longwick-cum-Ilmer, in Buckinghamshire, England. It is approximately one mile West of Princes Risborough, seven miles south of Aylesbury and three miles south-west of Chinnor in Oxfordshire. The Icknield Way passes just to the north of the village from north-east to south-west, although there is no connecting road through the hamlet itself. In 1931 the parish had a population of 53.

Henton is a hamlet in Oxfordshire, about 3 miles (5 km) west of Princes Risborough in Buckinghamshire. Henton is in the civil parish of Chinnor, just off the Icknield Way, which has been a road since the Iron Age.

Saunderton is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Bledlow-cum-Saunderton, Buckinghamshire, England. It is in the Saunderton Valley in the Chiltern Hills, the village consists of three main areas: a linear settlement along Bledlow Road about 1+1⁄4 miles (2 km) southwest of Princes Risborough, Saunderton Lee, about 1+1⁄2 miles (2 km) further south and a residential area on the A4010 road around Saunderton railway station (on the Chiltern Main Line), about 4+1⁄2 miles (7 km) northwest of High Wycombe. This residential area, unlike the other two parts of the village, is in the HP14 postcode district, meaning its post town is High Wycombe, not Princes Risborough, the boundary between the two post towns passing just south of Grange Farm. In 1931 the parish had a population of 454.

Longwick is a village 1+1⁄4 miles (2 km) northwest of Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, England, on the A4129 road. The toponym is from the Old English for "long farm".With Ilmer, Owlswick, Meadle and Horsenden, it forms the civil parish of Longwick-cum-Ilmer which was created in 1934. In 1951 its population was 786, since when it has increased significantly to 1,267 in 2001. Longwick was the location for the Sunrise/Back to the Future Acid House party on 12 August 1989.
