Mynydd-Bach

Mynyddbach Chapel is the oldest Independent chapel in Swansea, Wales. In about 1640 a group of people met on the Sabbath and on week nights to read the Scriptures and have prayer in "Cilfwnwr" farmhouse near Llangyfelach and later at "Tirdwncyn". They continued to meet as a properly constituted church until 1762. In 1720–59 the minister at "Tirdwncyn" was Samuel Jones. A piece of land was leased in 1761 and a chapel built there shortly afterwards, at Tirdoncyn-newydd near Llangyfelach. In 1867 the new chapel was built; it was extensively renovated in the 1930s.When it was first built, the chapel was at the centre of the nonconformist movement in Wales. Because of the persecution of the nonconformists it had to be built at least five miles outside the town Boundaries of Swansea.In 2011 the chapel was being threatened with demolition, but a group of local people, together with the remaining members and trustees of the chapel under the leadership of Reverend Grenville Fisher, Melvin John Davies and many other trustees a Congregational minister, established the Mynyddbach Chapel Project. The aim of the project is to secure the future of the building and grounds as an Arts and Culture centre, to serve the local community and the wider area, whilst retaining its religious and spiritual significance.The Mynyddbach Chapel Project operates from the Calon Lân Centre which is based at Mynyddbach Chapel

Treboeth is a suburb and historical village in the Mynydd-Bach ward of Swansea, Wales. Gwyrosydd Primary School and Welsh language primary school Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Tirdeunaw are located in Treboeth. Gwyrosydd was the bardic name of Treboeth-born Daniel James, author of the popular Welsh language hymn Calon Lân, which is often sung in rugby matches, Welsh religious ceremonies and other events.The Swansea-Builth Wells National Cycle Route 43 passes through the village. The village is home to several places of worship including Caersalem Chapel, St Albans, Treboeth Gospel Hall and Mynyddbach Chapel, as well as the listed Cwmgelli Cemetery.

Mynydd-bach, formerly Mynyddbach (Welsh: Mynydd-bach) is the name of an electoral ward in the City and County of Swansea, Wales. Mynydd-bach is bounded by the wards of Morriston and Landore to the east, Cwmbwrla to the south, and Llangyfelach and Penderry to the west. The electoral ward consists of some or all of the following areas: Clase, Clasemont, Mynydd-Bach, Park View Estate, Penfillia Estate, Treboeth, Tirdeunaw, Pinewood, Mynydd Garnlywd and Bryn Rock, in the parliamentary constituency of Swansea East. For electoral purposes, Mynydd-bach is broken down into the polling districts of: Mynydd Garnlwyd, Bryn Rock, Treboeth, Penfilia, Tirdeunaw, Clasemont and Clase. Mynydd-Bach returns 3 councillors to the City and County of Swansea council. In 2022 the ward was officially renamed Mynydd-bach on the recommendation of the Welsh Language Commissioner.

Clase is a suburban district of the City and County of Swansea, Wales within the Mynydd-Bach ward. Clase approximates to the housing area south of Clasemont Road between Morriston and Llangyfelach.

Cwmgelli Cemetery, also known as Cwmgelly Cemetery, is a cemetery located in the Treboeth area of Swansea, Wales. The cemetery is listed on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales, where it is designated Grade II for "its historic interest as a small Victorian garden cemetery".

Bishop Vaughan Catholic School is a coeducational Catholic secondary school in the Morriston area of Swansea. It is under the remit of the Diocese of Menevia. The school was founded in 1966 by people of Swansea. It comprises a number of buildings: the main teaching block, a four-storey block, craft block, music suite, dining areas and gymnasiums.

Morriston ((Welsh:Treforys or Treforus)) is an electoral ward in Swansea, Wales. It is coterminous with the Morriston community. Morriston is one of two five member wards in the City and County of Swansea local authority area. In population terms, it is the largest ward in the Welsh Assembly constituency of Swansea East and it is the largest ward the City and County of Swansea.The electoral ward consists of some or all of the following geographical areas: Caemawr, Cwmrhydyceirw, Graig Felen, Morriston, Parc Gwernfadog, Pant-lasau, Ynysforgan and Ynystawe, in the parliamentary constituency of Swansea East. The ward is bounded by the wards of Llansamlet and Clydach to the east; Bonymaen and Landore to the south; Mynydd-Bach and Llangyfelach to the west; and Mawr to the north. The ward is broken down into a number of polling districts by the local council. These are: Parc-y-Duc, Glantawe, Pentrepoeth, Tircanol, Caemawr, Cwmrhydyceirw East, Cwmrhydyceirw West, Parc Gwernfadog and Ynystawe.

Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bryn Tawe is a Welsh-language comprehensive school based in Penlan, Swansea , southwest Wales. It opened in 2003 to complement Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr and to provide additional capacity following the increased demand for Welsh-medium education in the area. Upon its opening, it held only its own fresh intake, taking none of Gwyr's existing pupils. As a result, the school only reached its full complement of years 7-11 (ages 11–16) with its fifth intake of September 2007. As of September 2012 it has approximately 900 pupils on roll. The site was previously occupied by Penlan Senior Comprehensive school for boys which had been attended by Welsh international rugby union players. In September 2008, the new sixth form partnership was opened with Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr and pupils have access to subjects on both sites.

Llangyfelach is an electoral ward in the county of Swansea, Wales, UK. It covers the communities of Llangyfelach and part of Mawr.The electoral ward consists of some or all of the following settlements: Llangyfelach, Pantlasau, Treboeth and Felindre, in the parliamentary constituency of Gower. The ward is bounded by the ward of Clydach to the east; Morriston, Mynydd-Bach and Penderry to the south east; Pontarddulais to te west; Pontlliw and Tircoed and Penllergaer to the south west.

Llangyfelach is a village and community located in the City and County of Swansea, Wales, United Kingdom. Llangyfelach is situated about 4 miles north of the centre of Swansea, just west of Morriston. It falls within the Llangyfelach ward. To the west is open moorland. The population was 2,371 as of the 2021 UK census. The name is seemingly derived from a combination of 'llan' and 'Cyfelach' (the name of a saint), with a mutation to combine them for Llangyfelach.

Brynhyfryd is a small village in Swansea, Wales mostly within the Cwmbwrla ward. The area is mostly residential. Brynhyfryd approximates to the area around Llangyfelach Road where it intersects with Brynhyfryd Road. Brynhyfryd Infant School and Brynhyfryd Junior School are the local schools in the area. Other local amenities include the Brynhyfryd public library. There are a few shops on Llangyfelach road and the area has a Grade II listed church – the Brynhyfryd Baptist Chapel.

The New Siloh Congregational Chapel, also known as the Siloh Welsh Independent Chapel or simply the New Siloh Chapel, is a Grade II* listed chapel building at the top of Siloh Hill in Landore, Swansea, Wales. The prefix 'New' distinguishes it from the nearby Old Siloh Chapel, built in 1829. The New Siloh Chapel was designed by Thomas Freeman, who had previously worked with the chapel's minister-architect, Reverend Thomas Thomas. It opened in 1878. Together with its gallery level (which circles around the entire perimeter of the interior) it could seat 1100 people. Above the congregation was an elaborate ribbed, elliptical ceiling. There was also a large, polygonal pulpit and a church organ with exposed, decorated pipes, installed in 1926.The exterior frontage has three bays, separated by pediments and decorated with acanthus capitals and parchment scrolls. It became Grade II* listed in 1987, because of its "strong exterior presence and particularly fine and unspoilt interior".After the congregation had reduced to only six people, the chapel finally closed with a farewell service in early January 2016.In 2017, the chapel was handed over to a new congregation called Liberty Church, part of Assemblies of God, who have begun renovation work and continue to meet in the chapel today.The chapel was featured on the BBC's Songs of Praise on 9 May 2021.
