Groet

Hargen is a hamlet in the municipality of Bergen], in the provinces of North Holland, the Netherlands. The hamlet was first mentioned between 822 and c. 825 as in Horgana, and means "sacred place". Hargen has no place signs, but there is a directional sign pointing to Hargen. It was home to 171 people in 1840. The current population is difficult to determine, because it has been added to the much larger Groet in the statistics.

Bregtdorp is a hamlet in the municipality of Bergen, North Holland in the north-western Netherlands. The village was first mentioned in 1843 as Bregdorp, and means "settlement of Bregt (person)". Bregtdorp has place name signs. The southern part of the hamlet was annexed by Schoorl. It was home to 109 people 1840. Nowadays, it consists of about 150 houses and 30 apartments in a retirement home.

Catrijp is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Bergen, and lies about 9 km northwest of Alkmaar. The name already appears in 1680 as Catryp. This name refers to a strip of land along water, probably water in the dunes. The first part (cat) of the name is unclear and has multiple meanings. Catrijp has no place name signs.

Schoorl transit camp (Dutch: Kamp Schoorl, German: Polizeiliches Durchgangslager Schoorl), originally a Dutch army camp (1939–1940), was a Nazi concentration camp (1940–1941) near the village of Schoorl in the Netherlands.

Merlet is a hotel and restaurant in Schoorl, Netherlands. It was awarded a Michelin star in 1998, which it has maintained (as of 2023).GaultMillau awarded them 17.5points out of 20. It was named Dutch restaurant of the year 2012 by restaurant guide Grootspraak.Merlet is a member of Alliance Gastronomique Néerlandaise.Head chef Alan Pearson was the first Merlet chef to be awarded a Michelin star, which was still in place in 2023 following several changes of chef. In 2001 Pearson was succeeded by Wilco Berends, who in turn was succeeded by Timo Munts in 2007. Munts left in 2013 and was succeeded by former sous-chef Frank van Enter, and by Jonathan Zandbergen in 2015.

Krabbendam is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Schagen, and lies about 10 km north of Alkmaar.

Schoorl is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Bergen, and lies about 8 km northwest of Alkmaar. Until 2001, Schoorl was also a municipality of its own. Schoorl is a village in between the polder area of North Holland and the Kennemer dunes. The village is about 8 km (5mls) long and never wider than 2 km (1mls). The village is heavily protected by the highest and widest dunes of the Netherlands, which reach about 54 m (164 ft) above sealevel right behind the center of Schoorl, and are more than 5 km (3mls) wide. Schoorl is a major local tourism location in the summer and counts over 25 campsites, the largest concentration of campsites in the Netherlands. The village, earlier named Scorel contains evidence of a long history in the form of two raadhuisjes (town hall) aging from 1600. The Dutch painter and evangelist Jan van Scorel was born here. Meidenmarkt is the most renowned yearly festivity that is celebrated once a year on the second day (Monday) of pentecost (see also this list of dates to see when Pentecost begins). The celebration is a 100-year-old tradition where the local youngsters can meet partners of the opposite sex. The celebration takes place on the klimduin in the center of town. This klimduin is a century-old attraction and many Dutch people have visited it as part of a school trip. During World War II, Kamp Schoorl was a concentration camp originally built as a Dutch army camp. Jews and political prisoners were imprisoned there and some were then deported in camps in the east where they were later murdered.

Burgervlotbrug is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Schagen, and lies about 15 km north of Alkmaar. Burgervlotbrug is considered part of Burgerbrug. It has place name signs.The village is named after a floating bridge ("vlotbrug" in Dutch) in the Noordhollandsch Kanaal. The bridge is still in operation. There is a little Mennonite church from 1869 which is nowadays a residential home.

The village was first mentioned in 1840 as "Burgerbrug of Eenigenburgerbrug", and is named after the bridge over the Groote Slot. Burgerbrug was settled soon after the polder was created in 1597. It is a cross shaped settlement with one part along the Groote Sloot and the other part along the road.The Catholic Birth of Out Lady Church is an aisleless church built in 1866 as a replacement of the clandestine church. Burgerbrug was home to 185 people in 1840. Three polder mills are still present in Burgerbrug. Two of the windmills probably date from 1597.

Aagtdorp (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈaːɣdɔr(ə)p]) is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Bergen, and lies about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) northwest of Alkmaar. The hamlet was first mentioned between 1215 and 1226 as Ekthorp, and probably means "settlement in the corner/border". Aagtdorp was home to 111 people in 1840. From the 1950s onwards, camp sites were established in Aagtdorp and it became a recreational area.

Bergen aan Zee is a village and seaside resort on the North Sea coast in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Bergen, and lies about 9 km west of Alkmaar.

Bergen (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈbɛrɣə(n)] ) is a municipality and a town in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. Its North Sea beaches and forests make it a popular destination for tourists. In 2001, the municipality was formed from a merger of the former municipalities of Egmond, Schoorl, and the smaller community of Bergen proper that had existed since 1811. Since about 1900, Bergen has been the home of many painters, writers and architects. Some of the work of this "Bergen School" is on exhibit at Museum Kranenburgh. The neighbourhood of Park Meerwijk, constructed in 1915, is made up entirely of villas in Amsterdam School style. There are regular art fairs in Bergen, as well as an annual music festival (the Holland Music Sessions in August) and arts festival (the Kunsttiendaagse in October). North of the town of Bergen are the Schoorlse Duinen, a nature area with the highest and widest dunes of the Netherlands, which reach about 59m (195 ft) above sea level, and are more than 5 km (3.1 mi) wide in some places. Other points of interest in the municipality include the aquarium in the seaside village of Bergen aan Zee, the Auto Union Museum in Bergen with a collection of classic cars, and the historical museums Het Sterkenhuis (Bergen) and Museum van Egmond (Egmond aan Zee). The town of Bergen has been home to the European School, Bergen, since 1963. In July 2021, the decision was made to move the school to Alkmaar.
