Barizoni (pronounced [baɾiˈzoːni]; Italian: Barissoni) is a small settlement in the City Municipality of Koper in the Littoral region of Slovenia.

The Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta is the parish church of Muggia Vecchia, in Muggia, near Trieste, Italy. In the past it was believed that the town of Muggia Vecchia had ceased to be inhabited after its destruction by the Genoese of Pagano Doria in 1353. Indeed, it was destroyed, leaving the basilica standing, by the Triestines, in constant struggle against the people of Muggia due to the salt pans. It is thought that before the current church there existed a previous one, of which some parts of the structure have been preserved. The current village of Muggia Vecchia is a place that arose relatively recently. It is currently the seat of the diocesan vocation center of the diocese of Trieste and has been run since 24 June 2014 by Don Andrea Destradi who is also parish priest of the parish of the Muggia Cathedral.

The Municipality of Ankaran (pronounced [aŋkaˈɾaːn]; Slovene: Občina Ankaran) is a municipality on the coast of the Adriatic Sea in southwestern Slovenia. Its seat and only settlement is Ankaran. It was formed in 2011, when it was split from the Municipality of Koper.

Cerej (pronounced [tsɛˈɾɛi̯]; Italian: Cerei) is a settlement next to Hrvatini in the City Municipality of Koper in the Littoral region of Slovenia, right on the border with Italy.

Ankaran (Slovene pronunciation: [aŋkaˈɾáːn]; Italian: Ancarano [aŋkaˈraːno]) is a town in the Municipality of Ankaran, located near the border with Italy, in the Littoral region of Slovenia. It is less than 5 km from the Italian town of Muggia near Trieste, about 2.5 km from the Italian-Slovenian border, 6.5 km from Koper, and 33 km from the nearest Croatian town, Buje. In the entire municipality both Slovenian and Italian are official languages.

Hrvatini (pronounced [xəɾʋaˈtiːni]; Italian: Crevatini) is a village in southwestern Slovenia in the City Municipality of Koper.

The Valdoltra Orthopedic Hospital (Slovene: Ortopedska bolnišnica Valdoltra) is one of Slovenia's most important treatment facilities. It is located in Ankaran on the coast of the Adriatic Sea in southwestern Slovenia. Its beginnings go back to 1909, when it began receiving patients with skeletal tuberculosis.

The Slovenian Naval Barracks (Slovene: Vojašnica Slovenski pomorščaki) is the sole barracks of the Slovenian Navy. It is situated in Ankaran, a settlement on the coast of the Adriatic Sea in southwestern Slovenia. The barracks were first used by the Slovenian Navy detachment in 1999. It is one of the smallest and newest barracks in Slovenia.

Muggia (Venetian, Triestine dialect: Muja; German: Mulgs; Friulian: Mugle; Slovene: Milje) is an Italian town and comune in the south-west of the Province of Trieste, in the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia on the border with Slovenia. Lying on the eastern flank of the Gulf of Trieste in the northern Adriatic Sea, Muggia is the only Italian port town in Istria. The town's architecture is marked by its Venetian and Austrian history, and its harbour hosts a modern 500-berth marina for yachts (Porto San Rocco). Muggia lies in northern Istria. Its territory, limited on the sea-side by a shoreline of more than 7 kilometres (4 mi) featuring a coastal road and on the border side by a hill system, Monti di Muggia, including Mt. Castellier, Mt. S. Michele, Mt. Zuc and Monte d'Oro, that dominate over a vast landscape of Triestinian and Istrian coast, is characterized by a rich sub-continental vegetation of both Karstic and Istrian type. It has a border crossing, known as San Bartolomeo, with Slovenia and the extreme east of the comune at Lazaretto. The Slovenian border crossing is called Lazaret in the Municipality of Koper.

The Church of Saints John and Paul is the main place of Catholic worship in Muggia, in the province of Trieste, seat of the homonymous parish belonging to the diocese of Trieste.

Premančan (pronounced [pɾɛmanˈtʃaːn]; Italian: Premanzano) is a village in the City Municipality of Koper in the Littoral region of Slovenia on the border with Italy.

The Danaé was a 44-gun Consolante-class frigate of the French Navy.On 12 March 1811, she was part of Bernard Dubourdieu's squadron sailing to raid the British commerce raider base of the island of Lissa. The squadron encountered William Hoste's frigate squadron, leading to the Battle of Lissa. Danaé was damaged by HMS Volage and had to retreat to Lesina for repairs. In the night of 4 September 1812, she exploded in the harbour of Trieste.
