Ankaran

The Municipality of Ankaran (pronounced [aŋkaˈɾaːn]; Slovene: Občina Ankaran) is a municipality on the coast of the Adriatic Sea in southwestern Slovenia. Its seat and only settlement is Ankaran. It was formed in 2011, when it was split from the Municipality of Koper.

Barizoni (pronounced [baɾiˈzoːni]; Italian: Barissoni) is a small settlement in the City Municipality of Koper in the Littoral region of Slovenia.

The Valdoltra Orthopedic Hospital (Slovene: Ortopedska bolnišnica Valdoltra) is one of Slovenia's most important treatment facilities. It is located in Ankaran on the coast of the Adriatic Sea in southwestern Slovenia. Its beginnings go back to 1909, when it began receiving patients with skeletal tuberculosis.

The Slovenian Naval Barracks (Slovene: Vojašnica Slovenski pomorščaki) is the sole barracks of the Slovenian Navy. It is situated in Ankaran, a settlement on the coast of the Adriatic Sea in southwestern Slovenia. The barracks were first used by the Slovenian Navy detachment in 1999. It is one of the smallest and newest barracks in Slovenia.

Kolomban (pronounced [kɔlɔmˈbaːn]; Italian: Colombano) is a settlement in the City Municipality of Koper in the Littoral region of Slovenia on the border with Italy.The local church is dedicated to Saint Bride and belongs to the Parish of Ankaran.

The Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta is the parish church of Muggia Vecchia, in Muggia, near Trieste, Italy. In the past it was believed that the town of Muggia Vecchia had ceased to be inhabited after its destruction by the Genoese of Pagano Doria in 1353. Indeed, it was destroyed, leaving the basilica standing, by the Triestines, in constant struggle against the people of Muggia due to the salt pans. It is thought that before the current church there existed a previous one, of which some parts of the structure have been preserved. The current village of Muggia Vecchia is a place that arose relatively recently. It is currently the seat of the diocesan vocation center of the diocese of Trieste and has been run since 24 June 2014 by Don Andrea Destradi who is also parish priest of the parish of the Muggia Cathedral.

The Urban Municipality of Koper (pronounced [ˈkoːpəɾ]; Slovene: Mestna občina Koper, Italian: Comune città di Capodistria) is one of twelve urban municipalities of Slovenia. It lies at the coastline of the Adriatic Sea in southwestern Slovenia and was established in 1994. Its seat is the town of Koper. The area has been included in Coastal–Karst Statistical Region since 1995. The municipality is bilingual (Slovene and Italian).

The Gulf of Koper or Koper Bay (Slovene: Koprski zaliv, Croatian: Koprski zaljev, Italian: Golfo di Capodistria) is located in the northern part of the Adriatic Sea, and is a part of the Gulf of Trieste.
