Balfron High School

Balfron (Scottish Gaelic: Both Fron) is a village in the Stirling council area of Scotland. It is situated near Endrick Water on the A875 road, 18 miles (29 km) west of Stirling and 16 miles (26 km) north of Glasgow. Although a rural settlement, it lies within commuting distance of Glasgow, and serves as a dormitory settlement.

Ballikinrain is an independent residential school in Stirling, central Scotland. It is run by CrossReach, a social care outreach arm of the Church of Scotland. The school is housed in the 19th-century Ballikinrain Castle, situated in the Parish of Killearn, 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) south-east of Balfron and 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) west of Fintry.

Boquhan (pronounced Bowhan) is a hamlet in Stirling, Scotland, sometimes known as Wester Boquhan to distinguish it from the other nearby Boquhan, near Kippen. The hamlet lies 1 mile (1.6 km) southwest of the village of Balfron and 1.25 miles (2.01 km) northeast of Killearn.Just east of Boquhan is Boquhan Old House which dates from 1784.Boquhan is in the catchment area for Balfron Primary School and Balfron High School.

Balfron railway station was a railway station that served the village of Balfron in Scotland. The station was served by trains on the Strathendrick and Aberfoyle Railway and the Forth and Clyde Junction Railway, both of which closed in the 1950s. The station was about 2 miles (3 km) away from the village that it served, therefore passengers and goods had to be transported by horse and cart to the village. A hamlet known as Balfron Station has since grown up around the site of the former station.

Buchlyvie railway station served the village of Buchlyvie, Stirling, Scotland, from 1856 to 1959 on the Forth and Clyde Junction Railway.

Killearn (Scottish Gaelic: Cill Fhearann, from orig. Ceann Fhearann, "Head/End of (the) Land/Territory" – until the 15th century when Ceann was replaced by Cill; denoting the presence of a house of worship) – is a small village of approximately 1700 people in the Stirling council area of Scotland. The village has its own primary school, a local Co-Op store, a pre and post school club - The Little Outdoor Classroom, and two nurseries - Mulberrybush Montessori and Heron HouseThe village is approximately 15 miles (24 kilometres) north of Glasgow, 7 miles (11 kilometres) east of Loch Lomond, and sits on the northwest flank of the Campsie Fells, most predominantly in the shadow of the volcanic plug of Dumgoyne, overlooking the confluence of the Endrick Water and Blane Water. The Glengoyne whisky distillery, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park and West Highland Way long-distance walking route are situated close to the village. The residential special school of Ballikinrain is also located in Killearn Parish, and caters for boys with special needs from throughout Scotland. (The school has been earmarked for closure in July 2015). The Church of Scotland congregation at Killearn Kirk falls under the Presbytery of Stirling, within the Synod of Forth. Within the Roman Catholic Church, Killearn falls under the Parish of Saint Anthony within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Saint Andrews and Edinburgh; although the Catholic community in Killearn is served by St. Anthony's Church in the neighbouring town of Balfron.

Buchlyvie is a village in the Stirling council area of Scotland. It is situated 14 miles (23 km) west of Stirling and 18 miles (29 km) north of Glasgow. Lying within the Carse of Forth, to the north is Flanders Moss and to the south are the Campsie Fells. The village lies on the A811, which follows the line of an eighteenth-century military road between Stirling and Balloch. According to the 2001 census the village's population was 479.

Earl's Seat (578 m) is the highest hill of the Campsie Fells in Central Scotland. It lies on the border of Stirlingshire and East Dunbartonshire in central Scotland. Located on a plateau in the heart of the Campsies above the village of Strathblane, its summit is marked by a trig point.

Dumgoyne is a hill prominent on the edge of the Campsie Fells and is a well-known landmark visible from Glasgow. It is a volcanic plug and is 427 m (1,401 ft) high. The plug is readily reached from a path beside Glengoyne Distillery or via a water-board track from the contiguous villages of Strathblane and Blanefield 3 miles (5 kilometres) to the east or Killearn to the west. From Strathblane-Blanefield, the path begins as Campsie Dene Road, which almost immediately becomes a private road after passing between the village's war memorial and the grounds of St. Kessog's Catholic Church. Public parking is not permitted on the private road, but several cars can be parallel parked on the church-side of the road between the main road and the driveway to the church (the Number 10 bus from Glasgow also stops close by), and the walk begins by following this private road for approximately 2 mi (3 km). After passing several gates on the way, turn to the right where there is another gate. Follow this path up and around the side Dumfoyn, and from here the path steepens, as it goes up Dumgoyne. The summit is marked by a small standing stone erected some years ago by local Rotarians. This route to Dumgoyne passes close to the Spittal of Ballewan (545811) the former site of a medieval Knights Templar hospital.Close to Dumgoyne is Dumfoyn (547825; 421 m (1,381 ft)) a similar but less remarkable and much less climbed hill. From these hills the much smaller but heavily wooded Dumgoyach (531810; 108 m (354 ft)) can be seen. Dumgoyach due to its association with the Edmonstons of Duntreath provides a historic link with Alice Keppel and Queen Camilla.

Dumfoyn is a hill in the Campsie Fells of Scotland. It is a volcanic plug, and rises to 426 metres (1,398 ft). It sits beside another hill, Dumgoyne which is a popular ascent for walkers due to its close proximity to Glasgow.

The Campsie Fells (also known as the Campsies; Scottish Gaelic: Monadh Chamaisidh) are a range of hills in central Scotland, stretching east to west from Denny Muir to Dumgoyne in Stirlingshire and overlooking Strathkelvin to the south. The southern extent of the range falls within East Dunbartonshire. The range overlooks the villages of Strathblane, Blanefield, Milton Of Campsie, Lennoxtown and Torrance to the south; Killearn to the west, and Fintry and Strathendrick to the north. The Fintry Hills lie further to the north; Kilpatrick Hills lie to the west and the Kilsyth Hills to the east.

Dumgoyne railway station served the village of Killearn, Stirling, Scotland from 1867 to 1951 on the Blane Valley Railway.
