South Bank Piazza

The South Bank Grand Arbour is a kilometre long arbour located in the South Bank Parklands in Brisbane, Australia. The structure functions as a pedestrian walkway which connects the Griffith Film School on the corner of Dock Street and Vulture Street to the Cultural Forecourt adjacent to QPAC, as well as the rest of the South Bank Parklands through which it runs.The arbour was designed by Melbourne-based architectural firm Denton Corker Marshall, and was officially opened in 2000. The structure is composed of 443 steel tendrils upon which a bougainvillea canopy is grown.

The wharf consists of two jetties, numbered 1 and 2 are used by RiverCity Ferries' CityCat services.The wharves sustained moderate damage during the January 2011 Brisbane floods. Both reopened after repairs on 14 February 2011.

Plough Inn is a heritage-listed hotel at South Bank Parklands, South Brisbane, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by Alexander Brown Wilson and built in 1885 by contractor Abraham James. In 1922, it was extended to a design by George Henry Male Addison and Son and built by Robertson and Corbette. It is also known as Plough Inn Hotel. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992.

The Wheel of Brisbane (also Brisbane Eye) is an Observation Wheel in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is 60 metres (197 ft) tall.It was erected in 2008 at the northern entrance to South Bank Parklands, the transformed World Expo 88 site by the Brisbane River, as part of the 20th anniversary of World Expo 88 and the 150th anniversary of the State of Queensland 1859–2009 celebrations. Its August opening coincided with the annual Riverfire event.Each of the 42 air-conditioned capsules can seat up to six adults and two children providing a total passenger capacity of 336. The ride lasts for approximately 12 minutes and provides 360° views across the city.During the 2011 Brisbane floods, the Wheel was damaged by water.

The parkland, on the transformed site of Brisbane's World Expo 88, was officially opened to the public on 20 June 1992.The South Bank Parklands are located on the southern bank of the Brisbane River, at South Bank, directly opposite the City. The parklands are connected to the City by the Victoria Bridge at the northern end, and to Gardens Point by the Goodwill Bridge at the southern end. The parklands consist of a mixture of rainforest, water, grassed areas and plazas as well as features such as the riverfront promenade, the Streets Beach, the Grand Arbour, the Courier Mail Piazza, the Nepalese Peace Pagoda, the Wheel of Brisbane, restaurants, shops and fountains. The parklands are also home to the Queensland Conservatorium. South Bank and its parklands are one of Brisbane's most important cultural precincts and they regularly host large scale festivals and events. Approximately 11,000,000 people visit South Bank Parklands each year.

Allgas Building is a heritage-listed commercial building at South Bank Parklands, South Brisbane, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was built in 1885. It is also known as Caledonian House, Queensland National Bank, South Brisbane Gas & Light Co. Building and All Gas House. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992.

The Queensland Performing Arts Centre (also known as QPAC) is part of the Queensland Cultural Centre and is located on the corner of Melbourne Street and Grey Street in Brisbane's South Bank precinct. Opened in 1985, it includes the Lyric Theatre, Concert Hall, Playhouse and Cremorne Theatre.

The Neville Bonner Bridge is a footbridge spanning the Brisbane River in Brisbane, Australia, connecting the incomplete Queen's Wharf precinct in the Brisbane central business district to the South Bank Parklands in South Brisbane. The bridge opened to the public on 28 August 2024. It is named after Neville Bonner, a Queensland politician and Australia's first Indigenous member of the Parliament of Australia. The design concept for the bridge, by Grimshaw Architects, is an arch and single mast cable-stayed bridge with continuous shading supported by one mid-river pier. A large observation deck is located in the centre of the bridge. Up to 10,000 people are expected to use the bridge every day. Cyclists will not be permitted to use the bridge. The cost for the bridge's construction was estimated in 2019 to be around $100 million. Prior to the official opening in 2024, a preview event for approximately 500 pedestrians was held on 2 September 2023.

The capsize of the ferry Pearl occurred on Thursday 13 February 1896 in the Brisbane River, Queensland, Australia. Many lives were lost.
