Glencoe is an unincorporated community in Alamance County, North Carolina, United States on North Carolina Highway 62, north-northeast of downtown Burlington. It is located on the Haw River. Glencoe is located north of Morgantown, and west-northwest of Carolina, a neighboring unincorporated settlement also on the Haw River. Glencoe is also home to Textile Mill Town, and Textile Heritage Museum. The Glencoe Mill Village Historic District and Glencoe School are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Glencoe School is a historic school building located near Glencoe, Alamance County, North Carolina. It was built in 1936 with Public Works Administration to serve the Glencoe Mill community and nearby families. It is a one-story, frame school with brick veneer influenced by the Colonial Revival and American Craftsman styles. A cafeteria addition was built in 1951. The school remained in use until 1963, then served as administrative offices for the County Board of Education.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

Glencoe Mill Village Historic District is a national historic district located at Glencoe, Alamance County, North Carolina. It encompasses 48 contributing buildings and 6 contributing structures built between 1880 and 1882 in Glencoe. The district consists of three parts: 1) a manufacturing and commercial complex; 2) a power and water system; and 3) a residential and social unit. The complex includes a three-story, Italianate style main mill building, a wheel house, a one-story picker house, a dye-house, finishing room and napper house, cotton warehouses and other storage buildings, and an office and company store complex. The original 250 by 8 foot (76.2 m × 2.4 m) log and stone dam from the grist and saw mill which occupied the site from the early 1860s provided 130 horsepower via a double turbine Poole & Hunt Company water wheel measuring 66 inches (1.7 m). Steam engines were added to the Dye House, Finishing and Napper rooms by 1905.The power and water system includes a concrete dam across the Haw River, tail race, and a generating plant. The residential and social unit includes 41 frame dwellings, some with detached kitchens and outbuildings, a lodge, and the ruins of the village church.The 38.9 acres (15.7 ha) property was purchased on January 26, 1878 for $8000 by E. M. Holt & Sons. An additional 148.2 acres (60.0 ha) was purchased the following year. The Holts established other cotton mills throughout Alamance County because of the "abundant water power drew workers from and supplemented local agriculture" according to a Historic American Engineering Record prepared in 1977.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. The building which once housed management offices and the company store was established as a museum in 2002.

It encompasses 108 contributing buildings, 3 contributing structures, and 2 contributing objects in a planned residential subdivision of Burlington. Most of the buildings are houses, one to two stories high, built between about 1919 and 1959 in I-house, Tudor Revival, American Craftsman, Colonial Revival, and Mediterranean Revival styles of frame or brick construction.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Horner Houses, also known as the Earl Horner House and Charles Horner House, are two historic homes located at Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina. The Earl Horner House was built about 1921, and is a two-story bungalow form frame dwelling. It features a gable-roofed porch. The Charles Horner House dates to 1924, and is a two-story, stuccoed frame dwelling in the Mission/Spanish Revival style. It features 66 windows and porches with terra cotta tiled floors. Earl Horner served as Burlington's mayor from 1919 until 1944.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Holt–Frost House, also known as the Dr. Frost House, is a historic home located at Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina. It is a two-story, L-shaped, Queen Anne style dwelling. It has a rear one-story wing that may date to 1860. It has a slate gable roof, multi-colored glass window panels, porches, and an abundance of sawn and turned millwork.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
