Northeast Philadelphia

Philadelphia Mills (formerly and still referred to as Franklin Mills) is an enclosed shopping mall in Northeast Philadelphia, bordering Bensalem in Bucks County and 15 miles (24 km) from Center City. Formerly named for Benjamin Franklin, the mall is home to 125 stores, a movie theatre, a food court, and seven theme restaurants and was visited by an estimated 18 million people in 2006. The anchor stores are Dave & Buster's, Forever 21, Urban Planet, Saks Fifth Avenue, Marshalls, HomeGoods, American Freight, Walmart, AMC Theatres, and Burlington. Three currently vacant anchor stores once housed Phar-Mor, JCPenney, and Modell's Sporting Goods. Opened in 1989, Franklin Mills was the second built and formerly owned by the Mills Corporation and is now managed by the Simon Property Group. Along with the King of Prussia mall, Simon has control of Pennsylvania's two largest malls. On September 16, 2014, Simon Property Group renamed the mall from Franklin Mills to Philadelphia Mills.

Liberty Bell Park was an American race track in Northeast Philadelphia that held harness racing and Thoroughbred horse racing from 1963 until 1986. The site, northeast of the intersection of Knights and Woodhaven Roads, was derived from several farms and smaller farmettes. Gordon's Mill Rd, a street off of Knights Road east to the bridge over the Poquessing Creek, was stricken and vacated from the Philadelphia city plan in 1962 to make way for the racing facility. Gravel Pike, now Byberry Road, extended east to the Poquessing Creek where a small bridge carried the road into Bucks County; now it is a closed bridge. Creek Edge Gardens is still located in the 4300 block of Byberry Road, one of the last vestiges of the pre-1962 style of homes and business in this once pristine area. The harness track was a .625 miles (1.006 km) track, but when thoroughbred racing was made legal in 1968, a 1 mile (1.6 km) track was built using the homestretch and front of the harness track until Keystone Race Track (now Parx Casino and Racing) was built in 1974. The Philadelphia Mills shopping center now stands on the site, along with other stores such as Dick's Sporting Goods and Big Lots.

Normandy is a neighborhood in Northeast Philadelphia. It is located east of Roosevelt Boulevard, in the vicinity of Woodhaven and Byberry Roads, built in 1955- 1956. All of the streets in this neighborhood begin with the letter N. The neighborhood is made up of Cape Cod-style single-family homes, with frame construction. Most of the homes have received additions over the years. The original landowners were Joseph Buckman, who owned 73 acres (300,000 m2) and John Rieger, who owned 18 acres (73,000 m2). The old Nabisco/Mondelez International plant at the southwest corner of Roosevelt Boulevard and Byberry Road was demolished in 2017-2018 to pave way for a present Wawa. Provco Group who owns the real estate is in the process of building a Topgolf facility and is proposing a pair of strip mall-style buildings and a standalone restaurant along Roosevelt Boulevard. Those would be adjacent to the Wawa, which opened near Byberry Road as part of the first phase of the redevelopment of the site.. Devon Self-Storage occupies what used to be Best products, also what was the original Normandy Square market.The Northeast Village was a wartime military housing project just south of the present Normandy Village.

The Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush (also known as Benjamin Rush, Rush Arts, or simply Rush) is a public, magnet high school located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Rush Arts opened in September 2008 after a two year remodeling (it was previously a middle school) and typically has about 630 students each year with roughly 500 females and 130 males. It is generally one of the top 10 schools in the School District of Philadelphia each year when state rankings are published. Byberry is a neighborhood in the far northeast section of Philadelphia, in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. Originally it was incorporated as the Township of Byberry and was the northeasternmost municipality of Philadelphia County before the City and County were consolidated in 1854. Its approximate boundaries are the Poquessing Creek to the north, Woodhaven Road to the south, the Roosevelt Boulevard to the west, and Thornton Road to the east. Byberry had a strong abolitionist presence and may have been an original stop on the Underground Railroad. Today, the area occupied by the township is mostly synonymous with the neighborhood of Somerton, as the neighborhoods of Byberry and Somerton tend to overlap.

St. Elizabeth's Convent was a historic Roman Catholic convent located at 1663 Bristol Pike in Cornwells Heights, Bensalem Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. From 1892 to 2017 it served as the motherhouse of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, founded by St. Katharine Drexel as the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament for Indians and Colored People. The complex was also home to the Saint Katharine Drexel Mission Center and National Shrine. Saint Katharine was entombed in a crypt in the chapel until the entire crypt was moved to the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Philadelphia and established as a new shrine.

Parkwood is a neighborhood located in the Far Northeast section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. The neighborhood's boundaries include the Byberry East Industrial Park to the north and northwest, Poquessing Creek to the east, Knights Road to the southeast and Woodhaven Road to the southwest. The neighborhood was developed by Hyman Korman in the 1960-62 as a planned residential community. The predominant housing type is the brick row house. The Parkwood Shopping Center is a local shopping destination, while the Philadelphia Mills mall is a regional shopping destination on Knights Road to the east of Parkwood's residential area.

Cornwells Heights-Eddington was a census-designated place (CDP) in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 3,406 at the 2000 census. For the 2010 census, the area was split into two CDPs, Cornwells Heights and Eddington, that are adjacent unincorporated communities within Bensalem Township. Cornwells Heights is located a bit southwest of Eddington. Both communities use the Bensalem ZIP code, 19020. The CDP was bounded on the south by Interstate 95, on the east by Street Road, on the north and west by Hulmeville Road, and on the west by Woodhaven Road. The Philadelphia city boundary is less than a mile to the west and north. The Delaware River is located 3.5 miles (5.6 km) to the south-southeast. Like neighboring Andalusia, the area consists of middle-class single-family homes along a series of grid-style streets. The main roads are generally accepted as Street Road, Hulmeville Road, and Brown Avenue.

Cornwells Heights is a census-designated place located in Bensalem Township in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The community was formerly part of Cornwells Heights-Eddington, but was split into two separate CDP's. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,391. The Cornwells Heights station is located in the community and serves SEPTA Regional Rail's Trenton Line and Amtrak's Keystone Service and Northeast Regional services along the Northeast Corridor. The train station also has a park-and-ride with access from Interstate 95.

Eddington is a census-designated place located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The community was part of Cornwells Heights-Eddington, which was split into two separate CDPs. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,906. The community is served by the Eddington station along SEPTA Regional Rail's Trenton Line.

Cornwells Heights station is a train station in Cornwells Heights, Pennsylvania. Located on Station Avenue near Bristol Pike in Bensalem Township, it serves the northeast suburbs of Philadelphia. It is served by SEPTA's Trenton Line commuter trains. On weekdays only, a limited number of Amtrak Keystone Service and Northeast Regional trains also stop at the station. In 2017, Cornwells Heights saw 1,505 boardings on an average weekday, making it the busiest station outside of Center City. The station has a waiting room and a large park and ride facility, with direct access to and from Interstate 95 and Pennsylvania Route 63. The parking lot was built by PennDOT in anticipation of construction on I-95 and opened in 1997. It has 1,600 parking spaces, making it by far the largest parking lot in the SEPTA system.

Millbrook, also known as Chalfont, is a neighborhood in the Northeast section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. The neighborhood is adjacent to Franklin Mills. The neighborhood consists of row homes, twin and twin rancher homes and has subdivision names such as Robindale, Chalfont, and the DiMarco Homes. The neighborhoods were constructed between 1956 and 1962, with newer areas near the Poquessing Creek built after 1970-1975. There were several Polish family farmettes, including Stopyra, Bushel, Strezlecki, Wyszynski and Grabowski occupying much of this area prior to the subdivision's construction. The neighborhood parish and Roman Catholic School is Our Lady of Calvary, located at 11024 Knights Road and Aloysius Fitzpatrick Elementary Public School is on the northeast corner of Knights Road and Chalfont Drive. Millbrook is also home to a magnet school specializing in the performing arts, The Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush.
