The Horse Hospital is a Grade II listed not for profit, independent arts venue at Colonnade, Bloomsbury, central London. It has a curatorial focus on counter-cultural histories, sub-cultures and outsider as well as emerging artists. It delivers through frequent events, underground film and artist's moving image screenings, and exhibitions. Founded in 1992 by Roger K. Burton, the venue opened with Vive Le Punk!, a retrospective of Vivienne Westwood's punk designs in 1993.The building was originally built by James Burton in 1797 as stabling for cab drivers' sick horses.

Russell Square is a London Underground station opposite Russell Square on Bernard Street, Bloomsbury, in the London Borough of Camden. Russell Square is a large garden square in Bloomsbury, in the London Borough of Camden, built predominantly by the firm of James Burton. It is near the University of London's main buildings and the British Museum. Almost exactly square, to the north is Woburn Place and to the south-east is Southampton Row. Russell Square tube station sits to the north-east.It is named after the surname of the Earls and Dukes of Bedford; the freehold remains with the latter's conservation trusts who have agreed public access and management by Camden Council. The gardens are in the mainstream, initial category (of Grade II listing) on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.In 2005, two terrorist bombings occurred nearby; one on a tube train between Kings Cross St Pancras and Russell Square, the other on a bus (Route 30, on diversion) outside the HQ of the British Medical Association on Tavistock Square. In condolence and commemoration the public and public institutions laid flowers at both squares; Tavistock Square has a later monument. In 2016 the Russell Square stabbing took place.

Russell Court is an architecturally notable modernist apartment block in Woburn Place, in the Bloomsbury district of London, on the corner with Coram Street just north of Russell Square. It was designed by George Val Myer and Francis Watson-Hart on an L-shaped plan with a curved recess on the corner and a motor garage below. It is one of a number of large apartment blocks built in London in the 1930s and has 501 small "bachelor flats" intended for students and people of modest means. Today, the freehold of the property is collectively owned by the flat leaseholders.

The Russell Institution (fuller titles: Russell Institution for the Promotion of Literary and Scientific Knowledge, and the Russell Literary and Scientific Institution) was an organisation devoted to scientific, literary and musical education, based in London. It was founded by private subscription in 1808, taking as models the Royal Institution and the London Institution, both at the time popular.

Bloomsbury is a ward in the London Borough of Camden, in the United Kingdom. It covers much of the historic area of Bloomsbury, and also some of Covent Garden and Fitzrovia. The ward has existed since the creation of the borough on 1 April 1965 and was first used in the 1964 elections, although its boundaries have evolved significantly over time, meaning that it no longer reflects the historical boundaries of Bloomsbury. Marchmont Street is located in the London Borough of Camden. It is the main high street serving southern Kings Cross and eastern Bloomsbury. It links the Brunswick Centre and Russell Square tube station at its south to Tavistock Place at its north, where it becomes Cartwright Gardens. The street is almost entirely commercial, with small retailers covering the northern half of the street, and a large hotel and the regenerated shopping centre covering the southern half. The Marchmont Association, which serves the entirety of the area between Woburn Place and Gray's Inn Road, is based on Marchmont Street, where it has a street-front office. The street is home to Gay's The Word - one of three LGBT bookshops in the country - and The School of Life. The street was built in the first decade of the 19th century. Most of the western side of Marchmont Street (numbers 39–73) is Grade-II listed, as is the Brunswick Centre, which makes up most of its eastern side.The English actor and comedian Kenneth Williams lived on the street for a significant time, and is honoured with a blue plaque on his former residence.
